It all starts with an introduction from Hemsworth and co-star Brian Tyree Henry, who voices Megatron when he was known as D-16. Other cast members include Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, Scarlett Johansson as Elita and Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion. Check out the latest look at the film—which is directed by Josh Cooley ( Toy Story 4 ) and written by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari ( Ant-Man and the Wasp )—below. Since then, he has worked on many acclaimed projects – both in TV and cinema – and has even been nominated for an Emmy, for his work on the neo-crime drama, Justified. The initial trailer for MaXXXine has been released ahead of its highly anticipated premiere in theaters this summer.
This new installment in the X series marks the third entry, following the original film and its prequel Pearl, both released in 2022.
Returning as the protagonist Maxine, Mia Goth reprises her role as the adult film actress who emerged as the lone survivor of the events depicted in X. However, this time, she’s supported by an impressive ensemble cast.
Among the cast are Giancarlo Esposito from Better Call Saul, Lily Collins from Emily in Paris, Elizabeth Debicki from The Crown, Bobby Cannavale from Ant-Man and The Wasp, and the iconic Kevin Bacon.
While X was set at the end of the 1970s in rural Texas, this film moves the action into the ’80s and to the glamour of Los Angeles, as Maxine attempts to pursue a career as a big Hollywood starlet.

Kevin Feige and his team had big ambitions when they started the MCU back in 2008. The plan was to introduce key members of the Avengers including Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America in their solo films first to make audiences care about the characters. The solo storylines would ultimately culminate in a crossover film which became The Avengers in 2012.
The original six Avengers in 2012’s The Avengers
The big risk paid off as the MCU’s Avengers team incredibly resonated with audiences. Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, The Hulk, and Hawkeye became the original 6 Avengers. However, director Joss Whedon almost included the Wasp in the film, played by Zooey Deschanel, who was supposed to have a major presence in the film.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to welcome the Fantastic Four. The group, led by The Last of Us fame Pedro Pascal, will pit an older group of superheroes against Silver Surfer and Galactus, two well-known villains. After keeping us guessing for months, Marvel has finally revealed that Julia Garner—best known for starring in the Netflix series Ozark—is being cast as Silver Surfer.
Doug Jones as the Silver Surfer in a still from Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
It should be noted, however, that this version will be Shalla-Bal, Silver Surfer’s romantic interest in Marvel Comics. But it seems not everyone is happy with the latest Marvel update on the upcoming flick.
Lakeith Stanfield, best known for his dynamic acting range in films such as Sorry to Bother You and Judas and the Black Messiah, expressed disappointment when Garner was announced as the new Silver Surfer.

The first Avengers film was inarguably a true masterpiece. With its star-studded cast and even more brilliant storyline, casting, and actors’ performances, the Joss Whedon-helmed film was perfection at its peak. But before it was finalized to hold all the elements that it did, the film almost took a different turn; one that could have brought about Zooey Deschanel’s Marvel debut.
2012’s The Avengers.
As surprising as it may seem, filmmaker Whedon almost had Deschanel debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the same role that later went on to Michelle Pfeiffer. And had Scarlett Johansson’s scheduling conflicts for the same persisted, fans just might have seen a different plot in the saga — one that included Deschanel as a young Janet Van Dyne!

It began with 2008’s “Iron Man,” a film that introduced the world to Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark with the hint that he could be part of something greater. Thirty-two films later, the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still being told, albeit with various tributaries and detours that introduce new characters and new worlds that may or may not cross paths one day. Each film in the MCU stands on its own to some degree, but like building blocks, they all connect as part of one interconnected universe. And in that way, watching the Marvel movies in order tells one grand story.

Halloween isn't for another few months, but this week's Empire Podcast delivers a hat-trick of horrors nonetheless, as Chris Hewitt has spooky sitdowns on Zoom with the stars of three scary fillums that are all out this week. First, Sydney Sweeney, star and producer of nun-more-black horror, Immaculate, talks about sticking the landing and possession. [21:24 - 37:37 approx] Then, David Dastmalchian, star of stylish found footage shocker, Late Night With The Devil, dials in from his trailer in Toronto, where he's currently working, to talk that movie, The Dark Knight, life goals, Ant-Man And The Wasp and more. [55:16 – 1:15:44 approx.] And finally, a man who ain't afraid of no ghost, it's original Ghostbuster, Ernie Hudson, aka Winston Zeddemore, who has a chat about Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire that was shorter than usual due to Chris having issues with hotel wifi from Dublin. The results are in on the 2024 Razzie Awards, and it was a very big (but not necessarily great) night for one movie and one actress this year.
The annual awards show, which took place one day before the 2024 Oscars on Saturday (March 9), hands out awards to performers and movies that have been deemed the “worst.”
Going into the ceremony, Expend4bles led the pack of nominees with 7 nods in categories such as Worst Picture and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off of Sequel.
However, when it came time for the awards to be handed out, another movie swept the field, picking up five Razzies. One actress also won big, being named Worst Actress and Worst Supporting Actress.
However, one Hollywood icon received redemption this year!

Slasher film Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey swept the five categories it was nominated in for at the 44th annual Razzies, which “honor” the worst of filmmaking. The awards were announced today.
‘Winnie the Pooh’ won the Razzie in the picture, director, screenplay, screen couple and remake/rip-off/sequel categories. The film, based on the beloved children’s literary character, follows Pooh and Piglet, who have become feral and bloodthirsty murderers. They terrorize a group of young university women and the returning Christopher Robin.
The Razzie Redeemer Award, bestowed on a past contender who has “gone on to better things” since being nominated for a Razzie, went to “The Nanny” actor and SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher for her leadership during the 2023 actor strike.
Drescher was nominated in 1998 for worst actress in the romantic comedy film The Beautician and the Beast.

Awards season tends to give movie fans all of the glitz and glamor that we love about Hollywood…That is, until it doesn’t. As is tradition, the weekend of the 96th Academy Awards also saw the industry honoring the worst in motion pictures, with the Golden Raspberry Awards aka the Razzies giving out statues to the likes of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, Sylvester Stallone and Megan Fox.
While Expend4bles had the most nominations going into this year’s Razzies with seven, it was Blood and Honey – which popularized a hopefully limited trend of public domain horror – that won the most with five.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey – Winner

Since its establishment in 2018, Gaumont Germany has produced a wide range of series and TV movies, among them such timely shows as the critically acclaimed “Deutsches Haus” (“The Interpreter of Silence”), which was nominated for the Critics Choice Awards, and the Ukrainian series “In Her Car.”
A subsidiary of the French entertainment powerhouse, the Cologne and Berlin-based company also created such ambitious shows as Netflix’s historical epic “Barbarians” – the first season of which was one of the streamer’s most successful non-English-language series worldwide – and the award-winning Sky Original comedy “The Wasp,” about a professional dart player seeking to return to his former glory.

Jonathan Majors’ controversy is certainly a massive blow to Marvel Studios as they set up their Marvel Cinematic Universe around his character, Kang the Conqueror. Majors was immediately dropped from the franchise after the jury found Majors guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and guilty of harassment.

Expend4bles tops the not-so-coveted list of Razzie Award nominations this year, with seven chances to take home a dubious honor.
Tying for a close second were The Exorcist: Believer and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, each receiving five noms.
“After strikes, lingerings of a worldwide plague and a general sense of universal agoraphobia, the decline of the cinematic experience goes without saying,” Razzie organizers said in announcing today’s nominations. “Thankfully, a doll pic and a bomb movie jump-started The Industry, which still left a trail of Pooh behind for the Razzies to pick up!”
This year’s acting contenders feature former Oscar winners Jon Voight, Russell Crowe and Dame Helen Mirren, as well as Razzie Repeat Offenders Sylvester Stallone, Megan Fox and Jennifer Lopez.
Results were determined by the votes of Razzie Members. Five top contenders were chosen in each of nine categories. The 44th annual Razzie “Winners” (for whom there will literally be no red carpet) will be unveiled on the now traditional “Oscar Eve,” Saturday, March 9.

Expend4bles leads the nominees for the Golden Raspberry Awards — aka the Razzies — which were unveiled Monday morning.
The film earned seven nominations for the Razzie Awards, which honor the worst of the year and are announced annually ahead of the Oscars noms announcement, which takes place Tuesday morning.
Expend4bles is one of five movies competing for “worst picture” of the year. The nominees in that category, along with the Razzies’ comments, are:
— The Exorcist: Believer: “a 50-years-later remake/rip-off that was horrifying in unintended ways”
— Expend4bles: “another installment of a franchise that’s fading faster than Razzie ‘winner’ Donald Trump’s mental acuity”
— Meg 2: The Trench: “a fishy tale about a snarky shark that flopped across all seven seas”
— Shazam! Fury of the Gods: “one of 2023’s several comic book movies failing to save the superhero genre”

It looks like it’s Shah Rukh Khan’s box office day today because just after writing about his unmatched stardom in Germany, we’re back with yet another record he created in 2023, and this time it’s North America. Amidst the bundle of many memorable films in the year, Yash Raj Films’ Pathaan became the only Indian film to earn this prestigious record.
Pathaan released on 25th January 2023 when James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water was ruling the American box office. It not only managed to grab a day from it to become the top-grossing domestic movie in North America but also became the only Indian film to do so.

Loki's Season 2 finale on Disney+ included an important reference to Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
In many ways, Ant-Man 3 was the result of events from Loki Season 1 due to the presence of Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror and the reveal of He Who Remains' promise of countless versions of himself.
Now, in true Loki fashion, the God of Mischief's Disney+ series just brought things full circle by including a key connection to the McU's first Phase 5 film.

Hollywood success stories often have a lot of overlap, but not in the case of Loki executive producer Kevin R. Wright.
The Philadelphia native postponed his film school dreams to enlist in the Marine Corps just a few months before 9/11, and he ended up serving as a combat correspondent for four years. From there, he enrolled at Philadelphia’s University of the Arts and majored in writing for film and television. Upon graduating as valedictorian, Wright moved to Los Angeles and paid his dues as an intern for a few years. He nearly gave up his pursuit until a chance meeting with Marvel Studios presented itself.
Wright then joined the Marvel ranks as a development assistant before working as the production and development manager on Doctor Strange (2016). That led to an associate producer position on Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018), which put him on a path towards becoming a full-fledged producer.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny didn’t land so well. Of course, that can change over time since anything is possible in the film industry. But the fact that the fifth installment is both behind in the domestic and international markets simply isn’t a good sign. However, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny isn’t the only big-budget flop in recent times. The Flash didn’t hold up any better. Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quatuamania and Shazam! Fury of the Gods were no better financially. Transformers: Rise of the Beast and Fast Five were notable declines as well. The year...

Sunday Update, writethru: Universal’s Fast X has gotten off the starting blocks with an estimated $319M global opening. While that’s just a skosh lower than where we had it yesterday (see below), this is still the 2nd best worldwide debut of the year, behind only The Super Mario Bros. Movie, as well as the 3rd biggest global launch for the franchise.
Overseas, the weekend take is $251.4M from 84 markets. This is the top international opening of the year and, for the series, the 2nd best start, after The Fate of the Furious.
In like-for-like markets at today’s dollars, excluding China and previews, the international opening is the No. 3 best of the franchise: 77% ahead of F9, 36% ahead of Hobbs & Shaw, and 13% and 17% below The Fate of the Furious and Furious 7, respectively.

Jeremy Renner shared an adorable note written by his nephew on his Instagram Story on Wednesday (15 March).
The Avengers actor was rushed to hospital on New Year’s Day after being run over by a 14,000-pound snowplough outside his home in Nevada.
The 52-year-old had been crushed after attempting to re-enter the runaway snowplough after worrying it was headed for his nephew.
“I am very lucky because my uncle is Hawkeye (which is one of the Avengers),” Renner’s nephew wrote to him in the handwritten letter. “I am also very lucky that my uncle is alive from his accident.”
Renner captioned his post: “Love my little man. Love you, Auggie.”
The actor was recently spotted out in LA for the first time since the accident.

The following post contains spoilers for "The Mandalorian" season 3, episode 3, "The Convert."
The first two episodes of "The Mandalorian" season 3 focused heavily on Din Djarin's (Pedro Pascal) quest to redeem himself in the living waters of the Mines of Mandalore and the cuteness of Grogu. In episode 3, "The Convert," we take a detour. Din and Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) bookend this episode, though the balance of it takes place on Coruscant, the governmental base of the New Republic as it was for the Empire. We rejoin Dr. Pershing (Omid Abtahi), who has been given amnesty after his capture, and meet a new character named Elia Kane (Katy M. O'Brian, who you might remember as Jentorra from "Ant-Man and The Wasp."
Between the return to Coruscant, the switch in focus to Dr. Pershing, and Bo-Katan's entrance into the Mandalorian covert, there is a lot to unpack in this episode in terms of Easter eggs.

Just as they promised last month, Illumination and Nintendo have released the final trailer for The Super Mario Bros Movie, and I continue to be surprised by just how fun the movie looks.
“While working underground to fix a water main, Brooklyn plumbers Mario (Chris Pratt) and brother Luigi (Charlie Day) are transported down a mysterious pipe and wander into a magical new world,” reads the official synopsis. “But when the brothers are separated, Mario embarks on an epic quest to find Luigi. With the assistance of a Mushroom Kingdom resident Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) and some training from the strong-willed ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), Mario taps into his own power.” The final Super Mario Bros Movie trailer leans heavily into multiple aspects of the long-running video game franchise, including Mario Kart. The last half showcases a thrilling race along the rainbow bridge, with Mario learning...
