I really enjoyed the animation, action and bloody violence. The dialogue was pretty awful. Reminded me of the latest Predator movie where all the mercenaries make 13 year old dick jokes that are not funny. The giant bear terminator was pretty awesome as well. I can't say I hated Kill Team Kill. If only it wasn't written by a ten year old.

Mayhem, music, and wisecracks but it falls short
disturbednakedchild-6585620 May 2022
Subtlety goes out the window with this exercise in animated violence.
Our familar trope of US marines encountering the unexpected takes a turn for the absurd in the form of a mechatronic grizzly.
The mayhem, music, and wise cracks are all cranked to 11/10 which will be enough to please some viewers.
But, the episode ends up feeling merely like an exercise in action animation which would be better suited as an ingredient for a larger series.
On its own, it falls a little short without delivering high calibre visuals or an engaging short story.

This short is testosterone to the max! Which can be a bit much at times but it's full of fun characters, blood & action. I could see this being a show on Adult Swim that I'd put on when I want to watch something entertaining & mindless. Animation is great I liked how fast & stylized the movements of the characters were at times. Not the greatest short from season 3 but I had fun with this one.
Pretty fun episode

Warning: Spoilers
A bunch of soldiers try and kill a cybernetic bear. It's as simple as it sounds, but I personally enjoyed it. The animation was great, as always. The soldiers were all extremely obnoxious and juvenile, but that's the point. We're supposed to hate the soldiers so that their deaths are funny. I'm giving this episode a 6.5/10, rounding up to a 7 because it did everything it achieved to do.
Bear with me.

Netflix's "Love, Death and Robots" series returns for a Third run. Overall, I enjoyed the first two seasons and wrote short individual reviews for each episode and I think I'll take the same approach here.
A military team is on patrol, when the come across the bloody remains of another squad. They soon discover that the team were torn apart by a bear, but not just any bear, a cybernetically enhanced bear, with a steel trap jaw and skin resistant to small arms fire. Their savour comes from an unlikely source, and one who'll explain that this secret weapon comes from much closer to home than they can imagine.
Generally, I've not enjoyed the episodes of L,D & R similar to this one, but whether it just caught me in the right mood, or had just enough referential humour undercutting the more tedious dialogue but I thought that this was reasonably entertaining. A central triumvirate, voiced by Gabriel Luna, Seth Green and Joel McHale just about keep their characters interesting enough.
I liked the 2D animation, produced by Titmouse and similar to something like "The Venture Brothers". It's nothing ground-breaking, save for one extraordinary moment that I'll not spoil here, but it's certainly effective enough for this story.
Nothing ground breaking but as pure action shorts have gone in this series this is one of the better ones.

Crude Dudes with Annoying Attitudes

What is the obsession with making your cartoon characters swear? I can always feel the feeble screen writer peppering their dialogue with f-bombs to try and heighten the situations or comedy of their cardboard characters. But having weak characters bark obscenities in an act of realism and empathy just comes off as crass and stupid. The point here is that your f-bomb needs to be earned. Much like "Kill Team Kill" none of it was earned.
The colorful sleek saturday morning animation is really gorgeous. Most of the blood drenched gore on screen is rendered like a cocaine fueled GI Joe for the parents. The antagonizing robo-beast is even a relatively fun design. However, a weak story that does little other than shuffle our vapid all american bros to the next bloody cartoonish death is emblematic of this meandering 13 minute short.
There are no real stakes besides the lives of our stock action squad, but the only loss here was such brilliant animation wasted on a DOA concept.

It's got great action, tons of violence and gore, and the comedy is nearly spot-on. It's a manly, kind of manly manmade man man-short for manly men. Either bust a cyborg nut or turn in your man card. It's got laughs, and "Oh s***!" moments. Cool animation, gotta say if this is the lowest rated episode of season 3, this might be the best season yet.
Generic Action
ernaneflopes25 May 2022
In my opinion, the weaker episode of the season.
Although this, it's funny, but not so funny mainly because is kind of generic. It's not anything that anyone didn't have seen before and will see again with the same story, archetypes and design
Based mainly in explosions, shots and a lot of testosterone.

Great retro visual style, really awful dialog
yepsure27 May 2022
Visually this episode was great - straight up 80s style action cartoon.
But the dialog and writing was completely at odds with what was on screen. Imagine Predator, with all these tough guy soldiers but instead of talking like Arnie and co. They instead talk like Gen Z Twitch streamers playing Fortnite. The story was ridiculous but still fun... but that dialog was pure cringe inducing and really brought the overall episode down.

The creators of this short do not seem overly conccerned with what the audience might think of it. It doesn't aim to do anything but be fun, crack some jokes, shoot some guns and show some gore. I for one, am very okay with this. I suspect the studio had some former/active service guys around, because the lingo was dead-ass correct for some marine grunts.
The CIA-bro was the best. I need to get me a pink zippo.

Incredibly Bad
barbarasocialdumpemail26 May 2022
Boring action and shooting like it has been done many times before in the past decades, a nice yet generic style of animation paired with the humor of a group of 13-year olds. I cannot believe that this made it into the series.

Warning: Spoilers
If you're into mood for 80s/90s testosterone C-action flicks, then this is yours: a gory, violent guilty pleasure no brainer.
There is a lot of shooting, over-the-top violence, one-liners and of course, some government conspiracy.
Apparently the makers of this season mistook the formula 'violence + gore = intelligent entertainment'.
This is not the only episode in this third season that looses its stories in a lot of action, violence and gore and forgets about the telling of smart, intelligent stories.
Meh, not good.

Warning: Spoilers
People seem to be taking this Traditional 2D animated episode seriously despite literally getting pissed on by one of the Characters during the opening shot.
This scene sets the tone for the entire episode. A group of Roided Up, Hyper-Cliche, Rated-R G. I. Joes looking for squadmates stumble upon a giant Cyberbear. Lots of Swearing, Blood, Guts and Laughs follow for the rest of the episode as they try to find and kill the bear.
It knows what it is, and its not supposed to be taken seriously in the slightest. Enjoy the over-the-top action, amazing 2d animation.. and goofy inappropriate jokes akin to those you might find on Archer or Venture Bros.

Just Why?
ShadowsBeneathTheLight21 May 2022
The whole episode is about macho men being torn to pieces and getting ripped apart by an even more macho robotic bear/honey badger. The art style was lame and while the episode was violent, the quality of the animation just made the blood and guts look silly. Am thinking this is just some dig at soldiers and men being manly, after all it opens with a guy literally waving his exposed dick around. Hard pass on this episode.
This show has it all!

Don't take it literally !
damienliquard-8202113 June 2022
Not mentioning the beautiful animation, colours and visuals, this story seems to be a parody of action movie like Predator or Terminator and is designed to be that way.
Well aware of its own purpose the story with never ending plot twist fulfills its comedic role and leaves us of 13 minutes of pleasure and fun.
So, don't take it literally.

Just so dumb
christenphaneuf-138797 June 2022
This episode was written by a thirteen year old who just learned about cursing yesterday. Not funny. Not interesting. Not entertaining. The saddest part is that writers probably thought they were something "edgy" as if this hasn't been done a million times before.
Great old school animation and legitimately funny
Ottodane8 June 2022
Not sure what the bad reviews are all about. I found it thoroughly entertaining and funny throughout. I would actually like to see more of this in a tv show of its own. I guess not everyone agrees but I really liked it.
Mindless
MovieMattic20 May 2022
I guess you've got to throw some mindless action into some of the episodes. The action was good, but the story and animation were average. It kind of reminded me of some old GI Joe episodes from the 80's and 90's but with bad language and lots of blood.
