It seems like you can’t navigate through any of Netflix’s menus or functions without stumbling across at least one Adam Sandler movie, with the actor becoming an almost ubiquitous presence on the streaming service since first signing an exclusive deal to produce a string of original films that are generally terrible, but also hugely popular with subscribers.
Netflix plan on riding the Sandler gravy train for a while yet, too, following reports that they’re keen to tie the 53 year-old down for even longer even though the two sides only renewed their agreement in January of this year, with Happy Madison Productions picking up $275 million for their near-constant contributions to the Top 10 most-watched list.

“The challenge when you’re designing anything that’s futuristic is trying to keep it grounded and keep it believable,” says “Altered Carbon” costume designer Ann Foley. Otherwise you risk “taking the audience out of the story.” This Netflix series imagines a future where consciousness can be digitized and stored. When a prisoner (Joel Kinnaman) returns to life in a new body he must solve a mind-bending murder in order to win his freedom. “Our visual effects and production design were so beautifully elaborate,” Foley adds, so “the most important thing was to make sure my costumes integrated perfectly and beautifully into this amazing world.” Watch our exclusive video interview with Foley above.

In a TV world where some services offer up brand new TV shows every week, it’s all the more impressive when a network can maintain quality with only a handful of new series each calendar year. One such channel? FX, which for the better part of the last 20 years, has been a place that’s helped push the boundaries of what’s allowed and what’s successful on TV.
Particularly since 2002 (the year when two of the shows in this collection premiered), FX has become a force for compelling dramas, surprising comedies, and a few shows that proudly defy falling into either category. Not all their efforts have been critical or audience successes (for every “The Shield,” there’s bound to be an “Anger Management”), but there’s a certain consistency to the FX banner that’s come without having a particular house style.
So which of these shows are most worthy of praise?...

The “Anger Management,” “Cristela” and “Friends With Benefits” alum says she was fired from a gig after being sexually harassed by a senior staff member she identified as “Carlton.” Haggar, who per IMDb was once a task producer and consultant on “The Apprentice,” did not identify which series the story was referring to — but she shared her motivation for the essay’s timing. “I had drinks with a group of friends — all younger female writers,” Haggar wrote for Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner’s website.

Selma Blair is set to star in Heathers, but not as an actual Heather. Instead, Blair will simply be Heather-adjacent, co-starring in the upcoming TV adaptation of the Winona Ryder dark comedy classic, which has just been moved from its starting spot at TV Land over to the Paramount Network. That’s per Deadline, which notes that Blair has been cast as “the gold-digging stepmother” of Brendan Scanlan’s character, Heather Duke. Blair announced the part with an Instagram post showing her character, complete with a line riffing on one from the original film:
