Honestly, I haven't laughed this hard at an episode of MST3K in quite a while. I loved the table-turning stunt and, if they're this funny, hope that they'll do it more often. The setup for the switcheroo is quite clever, and I don't want to ruin it here, but it certainly breathed some fresh air into the formula. I hope to see more episodes set on the Simulator of Love. The movie they show is pure hokum. I love the older films, they had such an earnest tone to them. I think a lot of newer films try to be so bad that they're good, but only wind up being bad. There's such an innocence to the crassness of Beyond Atlantis that it makes it ripe for riffing, and the cast and writers do a great job, hitting the target virtually every time!

Made Me Laugh Like 1990s MST3K

Beyond Atlantis was a great watch. I watched it with commercials on Pluto TV so that was OK because it reminded me of watching it on cable in the 90s. Stay around for the ending and credits which were not shortened. They play this rap music called mother crabbers and its very funny. I was a snob of 2nd gen MST3K but I have watched a few episodes after the first season and was cracking up. BTW, Pluto TV did NOT speed past the doners who gave to this on the web which is pretty cool. Wow, I stayed for the ending credits stinger at the very very very end while typing this and the crazy guy who played Ralph in Spider Baby said "Some Mother Crabber tried to set a trap!" Interesting huh?

Seems to me that was unnecessary. I guess I sort of get the guest host thing, though it takes me out too.
Then again, the only change I liked in MST3K was Mike in place of Joel. I thought Mike was the best of the hosts.
Still, I've been giving Jonah Rey the benefit of the doubt, and he's meh. Middle of the road, not great but not obnoxiously bad.
This girl they have subbing? Not so good.
That, plus the completely horrid voiceover work by the fake Crow, takes me right out of this.
