Like in the fourth episode and in the prologue of the miniseries , a flashback makes us meet Aurélien , whom the audience has briefly seen before ,to make us understand, shouldn't we have got it, that there are two young men , Abel and Cain of sorts : guess who's the bad one?

The episode is partly saved by Jean-François Stevenin's short appearance and by the good secondary character ,Rémy ,perhaps the only one who generates some interest .

After having underplayed during almost five episodes , Raphael Vorsky (played by highly talented Charles Berling ,in a really thankless part) reveals himself in his true colors ;but his motivation, which he explains in the final episodes, is utterly unconvincing : he was also the villain of the novel ,but he did think that by making the prophecy come true,it would allow him to find the miraculous stone of the Gods ,and to become thus the master of the world.

The red herring (Stéphane, played by Stanley Weber ,is responsible for the massacre because he wanted Christine ) is a damp squid.
