From the very beginning ,if you are going to appreciate this miniseries ,you 've got to forget Maurice Leblanc : the writers only kept some elements of the plot and throroughly modernized it .
By and large, the first two episodes are the most satisfying :much to the readers' surprise, Christine is living with her husband Raphael Vorsky ,but why not after all?
The scene on the ferry , the arrival on the island where she "might bring bad luck" and mainly the half-wit Rémy who has amazing visionary powers are downright intriguing and the new screenplay seemed to go in a good direction ; like in the book (this is one of the rare similarities) , Christine's father seems to have been murdered by her own son -and it occurs in the cemetery ,much to the writers' credit.
Besides ,there's that strange prophecy which will come true when "she" comes back ;and "she" ,it's Christine ,soon to become the bête noire of the island.
