Slightly disappointing

I would agree with most of the movie being scary enough to get on the list, but Hostel and Final Destination. Hostel was disturbing not scary I couldn't stand watching the torture scenes because they just ripped at me in depressing and disturbing emotion, but not exactly fear. Plus the plot of the movie seemed a bit one track to be considered good. I mean if your going to consider Hostel in the list then I guess you've never seen The Human Centipede because that just knocks many disturbing films off the charts I hear. My friends couldn't even eat, sleep, or function properly after watching the film. They advised other to not see it, saying that had to throw up during parts of the film. I, myself have refrained from seeing the film because it was sooo hard to stomach the trailer. Emotionally scarred is how I felt after the trailer. Final Destination was a great twist to horror movie plots, however it comes off as more of a thriller/suspense than a horror per se (it straddles the fence between those genres). It just didn't have that real creepy/spooky factor to it. I mean you basically knew who would die next and if you were cunning you good figure out how they died. It wasn't really a movie that scared audiences into eye shutting moments and shrieks, but instead it captured people in suspenseful ways, but not on your edge of the seat I would say. In other words I would sat that it just didn't give you the scare factor of could I be a victim or could that monster or killer be real. Another movie added to the list was Paranormal Activity. Now that I definitely don't agree with although I know it is 50/50 with people meaning you'll love it or hate it. I was one of those people who hated it. Boring is the first word that comes to mind when I describe this movie along with bad characterization, dialog, and plot. I mean anybody in that situation would run straight to church if that happened to them not taunt the ghost. Also the guy didn't believe his girlfriend even after evidence showed up. I mean what a moron. The parlor tricks didn't help either and I have the imagination of an artist which caused me to see this as totally fake. For example the feet imprinted in the baby powder resembled that of a over-sized chicken foot or a turkey foot. I mean he should have don't something more hulking and sinister looking to cause for a better effect. All in All this list was a bit disappointing, lacking many great movies, which were replaced by mindless garbage. I'm surprised Signs didn't get into that list because that movie was astounding in terms of characterization and plot along with scary, scary moments. I do however applaud The Ring, especially getting the placement that it did, The Mist, and The Descent. All bone chillingly scary movies. Oh and one last thing, the first Saw was great in every aspect of what goes into making a great movie. However the rest that follow in suit fell short some more than others. They even lost Jigsaws originally beliefs and motives for his crimes. He first started as someone who captured bad people and tortured them into living life to the fullest and not taking it for granted, including doing bad things, yet in the movies that followed, people whom did not appear to be in such category as the bad people from the beginning, people who were actually good people ended up in locked in another of jigsaws puzzles. Jigsaws beliefs and the basis of the entire movie had a huge loop hole, who is jigsaw to play God, to think he is soo special that he can make judgments on those of the living. And yet he does just as bad or worst to his victims as they do to themselves or others. Can you say hypocrisy. In all I'm just saying The Saw as a series doesn't deserve the recommendations and awesome critiques. However The first Saw is one of its own, separate from the rest in the series in term of the quality and making of the film.

Chiller 13: The Decade's Scariest Movie Moments (2010)

Fun documentary counting down the thirteen scariest movies from the decade. Various actors, writers, directors, fans, critics and other personalities talk about the films and their favorite scare scenes from them. In alphabetical order the films included are: 28 DAYS LATER, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, CLOVERFIELD, THE DESCENT, DRAG ME TO HELL, FINAL DESTINATION, HOSTEL, THE MIST, ORPHAN, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, THE RING, SAW and THE STRANGERS. Obviously, whenever a list like this comes out no one is ever going to agree with it but that's part of the fun because it leads to some good conversations and debate. My #1 pick for the decade is on the list but didn't quite make the top spot but I won't mention which film that is. For the most part I thought the documentary was fun and especially when you get to hear from others about what they thought was frightening. Yes, some of the people interviewed were a tad bit annoying but we can't have everything perfect. If you haven't seen a film and it comes up on the list it would probably be best to skip over it because each film has major spoilers given for it.
