Dog Ed Pursuit

The story about Ed bonding with the dog is very cute. Seeing him singing Rootbeer, who is an adorable dog, a lullaby was very sweet. So was to see him sing that lullaby to Vince. but all this psychoanalysis didn't seem to be well done, no need to think much about why you love that dog, Ed, lol

The story with Henry and his "date" was interesting. I think it shows the problem of our society looking at males being sexually abused differently, since a similar story would never happen if Henry was female. But I think the change in the attitude I wish for is to see a joke for a joke in both cases. It is not like the show tried to make it acceptable, more like they tried to show that one should be careful about what one wishes for. "wild" (or in this case I would just say crazy) is not always a good thing. Then again I am sure he could find something in between a crazy dominatrix and someone whose passion is to watch paint dry

"Dog-Ed Pursuit" Funny? Or disturbing?

Warning: Spoilers
I love this show (didn't know it was possible to review single episodes!) but I have mixed feelings about this episode. I have to agree with the other reviewer that the "date" Henry had with Katie (Bonnie and Vince's creepy and apparently sadistic boss) was handled in the typical double standard way. If Henry had been a woman, this show wouldn't have dared to make "fun" or make "light" of the fact that he was obviously sexually abused by Katie. Truly, what kind of "consensual" sex results in someone returning home in torn clothing, walking strangely, and spitting out his own teeth? I mean, sure, I know there are people who LOVE painful sex. And I know Henry wanted someone "crazy", but...

Again, if Henry had been a woman, her obvious "beaten and raped" appearance would have sent red flags up, and we would have immediately expected an outcry from Henry's family. If Katie had been a male, nobody would have found this funny at all, and Katie would probably have been arrested...or lynched by night's end.

I know I'm being very serious, but double standards never sit well on my stomach. This is a comedy, but is there no room to perhaps examine what happened and maybe offer a commentary about a woman of mean spirit and questionable morals and an unwitting man who was "traded" for a real estate listing? And what parent, male or female, would stand by and do nothing if a woman had said, "I'm going to go cry in the shower?"

Men who read this are saying, "Shut up, idiot! Men love sex whatever way they get it." I reply with, "No, you shut up...and stop lying!"

Again, I love this show. I love its commentary on family dysfunction, healing, and even being proud of who you are (especially when Ed speaks up in defense of his gay friend/housekeeper, Tim). But when I see episode after episode of Ed comparing Henry to a "woman" and always sort of gently belittling him by feminizing him, I'm a bit shocked that Ed didn't take this incident seriously.

Just something to think over. And I do talk a lot when I think about these things.
