Are we supposed to empathize with someone who is completely egotistical? She goes around completely ignoring her friends's needs (poor Peter!) asking her job back, at the expense of a single mom, from someone she's just insulted.
She might be "funny", but I don't see why Tom would like her: she whinges about getting a present when she hasn't even gotten one herself.
