Warning: Spoilers
I have continually asked for an ending that makes sense, we couldn't get one that pleased everyone, but we certainly could have gotten something better than this.

Jennifer Coolidge running around the house scared for 5 minutes is like something we would expect to see in Scary Movie, not a show on Netflix in 2022.

And we never even got a real resolution. Was it one of them? Was it no one? Leaving it to the viewer's imagination is fine, but then to have both Nora and Dean resort to being watchers is in the end was simply too much.

A fun show that was muzzled and maybe wrecked by a poor ending here.

Allows you to make your own conclusions.
Sleepin_Dragon20 October 2022
Theodora's health takes a turn for the worse, and she makes a shocking revelation to Dean.

Well, I enjoyed it, even if it was ambiguous, if you're someone that was looking for concrete solutions, a black and white answer, than this could perhaps leave you a little frustrated.

I think the writer did something a little different, spinning some pretty wild ideas, and instead of offering up a definitive, or even semi definitive conclusion, I think you're left to make up your own mind, putting the pieces together as you see fit.

Good use of the neighbours once again, they came across as wonderfully zany, a collective of very strange individuals.

Was it brilliant? No, is it what I was expecting? Absolutely, 7/10.

The Ending
d_sa20 October 2022
I really enjoyed this show and I think we deserve an ending to the story. This finale feels like a mid season episode. It's not just that it has no conclusive ending But also There's development in the story and the characters in the finale which makes no sense to end it there. The show should have had more episodes or a second season.

The Writing was good at giving all suspects a motive for terrorizing the family in the house So that anyone could be the watcher. So why not conclude the story as scam performed by all the beneficiary suspects. Form the real state agency, LLC, the detective, Camera boy, and the weird neighbors. This would've been the perfect ending to the show IMO.

Haunted House

Warning: Spoilers
This Episode begins with Nora, her exhibition evening is going on this evening. Theodora tells Dean that she was the owner of his house, she sold it to Dean. Theodora is The Watcher, what a shock. Mo tells to Dean that Theodora never lived in Dean's house. Theodora died. It gets clear that Mitch died, this was not clear till now. Karen bought the house. Karen runs away when The Watcher appears. Karen sold the house for 2.6 million, she lived in the house for 48 hours. Dean speaks to the new owner named Ben. The Watcher case keeps unsolved. Solid Last Episode of The Watcher Season 1, this was a disappointing last episode. Let's hope for a good second season next year!

Up to the Viewer

As several possibilities are presented. The odd neighbors and their house guest look likely. Series has some touches of black humor, the cop Christopher McDonald plays it light with subtle gags, playing off his stereotype. Connie Britton the real estate lady also plays her usual self, not really a fan of her act. The other supporting cast go for the tongue in cheek chuckles also. Naomi Watts does more in the last three episodes as her character deals with the increasingly unhinged husband. Some slow spots in a few of the episodes, doesn't really hold the interest fully, but all in all a good try at an open-ended case.

Inconclusive
florisklaver7615 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The series is too drawn out yet fails to resolve or conclude most major elements of the storyline.

In the end Dean himself becomes one of the wacko people obsessed with this house. The ending is quite unsatisfactory I mean it's clear the creepy neighbors along with Jeff Graff, who seems to secretly live with the Amish looking neighbor and the mute guy, are the ones messing with whoever buys the house next by breaking in through the tunnels. But is it really only to protect the monumental value of the home or are they just petty and prey on the rich out of jealousy and don't think these people deserve the house? Theodore made up a story about this Jeff person but at the same time he is there but they call him William, is he actually Jeff? If yes what did happen to his family if they weren't killed? In the end we are left with so many questions because the way it's written it makes you think everyone may have had something to do with it, and perhaps that's the conclusion we have to make.

Sometimes you just have to move on...
rustademily25 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this show. It was very suspenseful and keeps you guessing. A lot of people are complaining about the inconclusive ending, but it's based on a true story that hasn't been solved. Sometimes in life, mysteries aren't solved and you just have to learn how to move on and live your life. I think that the inconclusive nature of the ending leaves room for imagination on behalf of the viewer and makes it even creepier. I found myself thinking it might be like a Phantom of the Opera situation where it's just some creepy dude living in the bowels of the house and making an appearance once in a while. Probably not true, but the open-endedness let's your mind go there and isn't that what makes a scary story actually scary?

Also, I could listen to Noma Dumezweni talk for hours. She was great. Nice to see Christopher McDonald as well. It takes me back to y 90s/early 2000s childhood.

WATCH the SENTINEL (1977)
TheFearmakers19 October 2022
For anyone let down by this LOST-style no-answers-to-many-questions finale, you need to watch, or maybe just read about, a horror movie by British director Michael Winner about a woman who, like the main character here, goes crazy trying to find out what's with the haunted apartment she lives in, full of eclectic weirdos that may or may not even exist...

By the end, the hero of The Sentinel becomes just what the family patriarch who bought this haunted house becomes...

HE now and SHE before morph into, basically, the new Watcher of the show, or Sentinel, both meaning the same thing (a sentinel watches)...

And so, while this series seemed like The Shining meets American Beauty along the way, what it amounts to is The Sentinel...

The difference is, that movie didn't set up so many questions, being a mere 2hr movie instead of 7hr miniseries, which this epic fail should've been as well. But getting to the point isn't Ryan Murphy's thing.

Old School Haunted House Tale
kalibeans17 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Don't let the lower reviews on this episode keep you from watching it or the series. The ending, wonderfully summing up all is traditionally creepy. It's horror is FAR more subtle being filmed in the daylight, on manicured lawns, with no frightening soundtrack or shadows.

This is a 21st century old school haunted house tale, with a brilliant twist. Just the right amount of occasional humor to lure you into relaxing a bit. A dangerous thing in this house! You are given your first clue when it is the children that are first aware something is amiss in this old house. The teen daughter not so much, readily accepting the lipstick and not quite connecting the change in her that comes with it. The most innocent youngest child, the son, is aware from day 1.

The writers (and casting) did a Fantastic job choosing the supporting characters who have already become altered by the house and do it's bidding as protectors, helping the house survive.

It seems many watchers of the series are frustrated because they were searching for a "who"; not considering a "what".

Perhaps it would have tied it up with a bow and brought closure to those frustrated at the ending if a sentence would have scrolled at the very ending, "Have you ever considered a house is born bad?" (The Haunting?, can't recall precisely).

I enjoyed it start to finish in one go and look forward to more from these writers. I imagine this does qualify as a spoiler, so will mark it as such.

Very Good Series!!

Could have been so good
charliemouse-0673318 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode ruined it for me. A good story in spite of the John graff /list story but it could have been a horror classic movie. But the super twist of the end?! Really Theodora admitting to several twisted plots... the real story was very creepy so the tunnel graff and Theodora plot weren't really needed. I think they went too far to surprise the public. I found it disappointed the police the creepy neighbors that wasn't enough? Even the odd teacher.. but I need 135 characters . The club of weirdos at the end so stupid preserving the interiors... really? What can I s y it's a metaphor for white supremacists.

YAHOO! Fantastic Ending Alert!
tennismenace16 February 2023
Wow, what a surprise and delightful season finale we got us here. I had no idea where the show was going to wrap up season one, but to be honest, this ending far exceeded the ending I possibly could have conceived. BRAVO AND HATS OFF TO THE WRITERS for this gem of a show, especially the finale. I'm not going to say one word so I won't have to put "spoilers" up on this review. Seriously though, you shouldn't want anyone to spoil it for you...it's that awesome.

What can I say about the whole season? Love and kisses to everyone involved- directors, producers, and of course all the actors. EVERYONE who got FaceTime was a delight and awesome in their role. Of course, the lead family- the Brannocks- were nothing short of stupendous. I fell in love with Naomi Watts when I viewed Mullholland Drive, and she has never disappointed me since. She had to wear many hats in this series and she wore them well. Mr Brannock matched her step for step, if that is even possible. But, I shouldn't stop there because like I previously said- Every secondary actor/actress was spot on and believable. If i had to single out just one actor to write about, which is not really fair, but if i had to, i would look to the divine actress with a very cool voice who played Theodora, the private eye who was hired by the Brannocks. I could listen to her all day long just reading the phone book, she is that mesmerizing.

I guess I've said enough...I definitely can't wait to see the path season 2 will be taking. I'm sure I won't be let down. Again to all involved in this production- WELL DONE! I know some people didn't like it as I do, and I respect their opinions, but it would be a shame if people missed out seeing this series because of those reviews that obviously I don't go along with.
