What happened? Warning: Spoilers
I honestly didn't think I would ever write a review for an episode of a show I watched, and yet here I am. After watching the latest episode I just felt the urge to add my two cents and that's already telling enough. Take this from a casual viewer. One of the people who always tune in but go on with their lives after watching, not really engaging in fandom or fan theories. I only watched every episode of 911 once. No rewatches or overanalyzing any scenes. I'm more like the person from the outside looking in, pun intended.

Anyway, I was really looking forward to 5b after 5a felt like it was a whole different show. It felt oddly disconnected and I was hoping we'd get the missing pieces back this half of the season. Especially after watching the first promo. I was really hyped up but then I watched the first episode and everything went up in smoke. There are still a few episodes coming, so it could change and fuel my excitement again.

Don't get me wrong, it overall wasn't a bad episode. It had a lot of good scenes and writing too. Especially the action ones. There were some incredible stunts! The homage to the movie 'Speed' was great. I loved the acting, everyone did a fantastic job. The passion they portrayed the characters with was outstanding. Also the setting of the scenes, the angles and the lightning were amazing. The scene with Eddie and Christopher- perfect.

BUT I had really high hopes for the new female character Lucy Donato (played by an incredibly talented actress whose work I love), only for her to be reduced to yet another love interest or whatever she's supposed to be- being all over one of the main male characters within like five minutes of her introduction. Can't say I'm a fan of that, if anything I'm greatly disappointed by how that played out. I mean, seriously? That's the route you're going with her? I was looking forward to having more rep of badass female firefighters without them being tied to any male character immediately or at all. Especially in the way you did with her storyline here. It's safe to say I'm not amused.

We didn't even get to know her a little bit better and she didn't even have more than a few lines before everything went down a road I'd rather have avoided. Can't women be their own person just for once, having a separate storyline? Do they need to have a sexual attraction to the males all the time? What happened to women and men just being platonic pals? That's not uncommon, you know? You claim that two male characters (with undeniably crazy chemistry I might add) can just be platonic friends, so why can't a man and a woman too? Just asking for a friend.

And no, I'm neither a Buddie shipper nor do I ship BuckTaylor. I'm not that much of a shipper, but if I had to ship anyone, it would probably be Bobby and Athena. Not that it's important to my review but I felt like I needed to clarify.

Anyway, back to the episode. I really wish you had introduced Lucy differently. There's no doubt she would have been received way better by people if you had taken another direction with her character. You didn't even give her a chance to grow on and be liked by the audience. I'm sure she could have been (she still can be) a great addition to the show. Maybe her rocky entrance does serve a higher purpose I don't know of yet, but it still doesn't make the storyline any better. At least not for me. Of course, everyone else is entitled to have their own opinion and I'm sure there are people who might like what you did with her character so far.

Lucy and Buck kissing while he's still in a relationship with Taylor Kelly and then lying about it definitely killed the vibe. I don't know why you chose to do that, but I feel like it wasn't the best choice character-wise. Not for Lucy or for Buck.

Buck has grown so much as a character throughout the show and now it feels a little like his whole character development went down the drain just within a few minutes. Believe me when I say that I get that he isn't okay. He has a lot of trauma going on with everything he went through and yeah. Sometimes people who are in a dark place make mistakes, regress to old ways, or even do something out of character.

And yet, I feel like it still didn't have to be this way. There were other possibilities to make him realize he isn't happy with his relationship or his life in general at the moment. I know he's feeling adrift with all the changes and the people he's missing. And I also know it's a drama show but there are other ways to create said drama. It didn't have to end in a cheating arc that hurt a lot of people. It also felt kinda rushed and unnecessary. Or I just don't get the greater picture yet.

It's a good thing I'm a firm believer in second chances. People make mistakes, sometimes really bad ones. And while I think what he did isn't okay by any means, he's still redeemable. I don't give up on anyone that fast and I won't give up on Buck even though I don't like his actions.

Also it's your show and you can do whatever you want and yes, I'm still going to watch until the very end, no matter where you take it. I won't quit a show just because I don't like every single storyline. I'm aware that you can't please everyone.

That, however, doesn't mean I can't hope that you won't drag this storyline out forever because that would be something I'm really not looking forward to. Lucy and Buck being friends? Yes. I would love to see that. But Lucy and Buck becoming a thing? No, I'd be so not here for that. They don't seem to be the right fit. The possible potential gone after that introduction. And no matter what you might have in store for those two, I just can't see it going anywhere anymore. This just wasn't a great start for a possible, healthy relationship. Well, maybe that's just me again. But it just doesn't feel right for them to become a couple now. Besides, Buck dating the female version of himself- that would be kinda weird.

I feel like you always write yourself into a corner when it comes to Buck's love interests. Abby left, Ali too, Taylor Kelly doesn't make him happy even though she stays, Lucy isn't good for him, making him turn back to old ways- maybe it's a pattern and just not meant to be or there is another reason they just never work out.

At this point, I feel like you either need to write in a complete new love interest who finally completes him in all the good ways or let him stay single for a while to heal- or maybe the right person for him has been right there all along? You know who I mean. And yes, I might not be a shipper but I must have been blind not to see it. I could name countless scenes (and I only watched everything once) where I thought- wait a minute? Could there be more? Did they really just do that?

And looking back on it now, I actually think it would be a good opportunity to possibly create the greatest slow burn in history. At least it would finally be something meaningful after all the failed relationships. Maybe that's what's been missing before? Just a thought.

Who knows. I'm not the writer here, you are. But quite a lot of times it felt like it was implied that there was something deeper, something more going on between them.

Anyway, like I said. The episode wasn't all bad but there were quite a few things I thought weren't beneficial to the plot and characters and made me not overly enthusiastic for more. But again- that's just me. I don't really know where you're going to take it from here because it's only the first episode of 5b and maybe everything you did will make sense as soon as the finale airs. I really hope so.

Because right now? The show really isn't the show I used to love so much. But it doesn't have to be like that. Here's to hoping I'm gonna love it again.

Eddie Diaz saves the day
legrawrestling29 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Gonna start by saying that this isn't a bad episode. They did stupid things with characters, and ruined character development, but it wasn't bad, Ghost Stories was worse. Now that I got that out of the way, lets get to it. I don't have a ton of opinions on Lucy and Jonah, we haven't seen enough of them. I think they can be interesting characters. Athena is amazing as always. I'm loving the Linda and Eddie friendship. Buck and Hen BOTH felt out of character to be me. The scene with Bobby and Eddie is amazing, I'm looking forward to see what they do with that. The scene with Eddie and Christopher was so important for the both of them, I'm so happy they had that conversation. Ravi is amazing! Give us more of him! The dinner scene with Eddie, Buck, Christopher, and Taylor felt a little awkward, scenes with MW are always a little awkward. Eddie had such a good storyline this episode, he was honestly the best part of this episode, I'm so incredibly excited for Eddie's storyline this season.

torn about rating but loved eddie
bruhnuts29 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I want to emphasize how excited I and a lot of others are for eddies mental health storyline. His character arc is tying along so well, from his relationship with Ana and his struggle to be who he thinks people expect him to be, to all these feelings building up and exploding. The lashing out at Bobby was a perfect addition because it truly captured how eddie isn't acting or feeling his best. I'm excited to see his growth once he gets help and how his journey progresses because of it. It's leaning in the perfect direction for buddie and I could go on but y'all get it.

However, as far as I know, no one liked Lucy's entrance in particular. The cheating plotline was unnecessary and undid so much of bucks character development. I don't like Taylor, but the cheating was odd. It especially bothered me that the writers had Hen debate if Buck should tell Taylor. Her and Karen are constantly brought back to this cheating storyline, coincidentally the only lesbian couple, and it's exhausting. They need more screen time together. Pls. Anyways, if Bucklucy is gonna happen, we DO NOT want it. If it's to bring Buck into a character arc of his own because he's going through something and Lucy is bringing out the worst in him so he can see it, then that would make more sense. Nothing that lasts tho. Would make no sense and revert us back to 5a😐 Episode was actually amazing overall and interesting in the other areas just didn't like the cheating plotline whatsoever.

The Díaz boys saving a horrible premiere
stillnotyourbusiness22 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The emergencies were meh, including the one based on Speed, it was such a let down.

Then they decided to destroy Buck's character and he took Hen down with him. This cheating storyline makes no sense and it's just disgusting. I don't even like Taylor and I hated how Buck acted.

He gave me secondhand embarrassment throughout the whole episode, but that was just horrible. And then instead of feeling guilty he asks her to move in. This guy was lecturing Eddie 10 episodes ago about how to treat someone you love.

I don't know if the show will ever recover from this horrible season. They're literally copying what they did in season 3 when Buck was out of work, but making it worse.

Bobby making the same mistakes again, Eddie is now Buck in season 3 and Buck is Eddie. I've got to say that Eddie's fighting arc was more intersting than this one, at least he didn't cheat, lie and then acted as if nothing happened.

Jonah, the new guy, was kind of funny but it won't bring too much to the show since he'll be gone in two episodes or so.

Lucy, Arielle's character, was awful and as a woman I'm tired of these writers creating misogynistic female character to develop men and then throw them out as if they were a trash bag (see Tatiana, Shannon, Taylor, Ana, Lena and Ali - these last two are the least problematic ones to be honest -). I can't believe they thought this was a good idea and someone would like her.

And finally, it's worrying that they keep replacing poc for white people who don't even know how to pronounce their last names. They have Ravi, Jamal, Linda, Karen and the main characters and they keep bringing new people that aren't interesting. Kristen Reidel should just give up because after two seasons it's pretty clear that she doesn't have a clue on how to run a show.

Why such low rates?
UserUserIMDB23 March 2022
Why are you people giving low rates to this episode and the entire season? I undersrand that this isn't the same as seasons 2 or 3, but that doesn't mean it's bad. This episode was maybe 8/10 for me but i'm giving it 10 because it deserves more.

Great Eddie Storyline
ancasteffanescu23 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I get people hated Buck's cheating plot. Not a fan of it either, but I'll give the writers the benefit of the doubt for now, that this is going in a good direction for the character, where his issues regarding intimacy and self worth are going to be properly addressed.

The highlight for me was Eddie starting to spiral because of years of repressed traumas, I think this is very consistent with his character and am very happy the writers decided to go for this storyline. The acting was great, the scenes were strong, particularly the one between him and Chris, very moving, and him lashing out at Bobby, which was harsh, but understandble given his mental state at the moment.

I loved everything EXCEPT
clumsyliz22 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
How Buck and the writers are doing Taylor dirty.

I was having a great time watching the show and yeah it definitely seemed different then the beginning of the season, but it was starting to feel like everything they did in 5a was intentional and not just "crap we're scrambling".

Eddie's storyline - DANG. Awesome. Love it. He's doing great with it.

New characters? Begrudgingly like them.

Buck's? What the heck. I never excepted buck to do what he did, and yeah I know he didn't go all the way and at least he got a ride home with hen, but he definitely knew what he was doing. He could have immediately said he had a girlfriend when Lucy got him that first drink. What's the point of all Taylor's character and story development if they are just gonna throw it away? In 5a yeah, there was more off moments for buck (where you could tell something was going on in his head) when he was around Taylor, but why have him go to her in Oklahoma and be there for her? There was hardly any happy flirty moments in the beginning half of the season and that bothered me intensely because it was different from their season 4 relationship. I'm getting off track but ANYWAY why go to all the work in the two seasons for Taylor only to make it seem like a breakup is on the horizon? It feels like fan service to the loud minority.

Lucy and buck are interesting together but my like for them together went down the drain as soon as they kissed and buck knew full well he had a girlfriend (and then didn't tell his girlfriend he kissed someone!) I hope this just makes buck and Taylor stronger, but I'm not holding out much hope.

I really enjoyed this episode, honestly. But the buck and Taylor and lucy thing really put a downer on it for me. Hopefully it turns around.

Eddie's Storyline Saved the Episode
kmt03010-476-25686428 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I am absolutely loving Eddie's storyline! The scenes with him and Chris were absolutely adorable. I loved the one in the kitchen where they finally talked and Chris told Eddie he never wanted him to stop being a firefighter and that he could be brave too. It was so touching. I love their relationship so much.

I also really liked Athena's scenes in this episode. She is incredible and I love how it tied back to the bomb at the beginning of the episode.

The only reason I took a star off for this episode was because I really hate Buck's storyline. I also hate that they introduced a new woman firefighter just to have her be used as a love interest and be used to make Buck cheat on Taylor. I was really excited about Lucy's character because both Hen and Lena were incredible but the writers had to ruin it in the most sexist way possible. Also I really wanted Buck and Taylor to break up but not because he cheated. And I really hate that, that is the way the writers decided to go.

Also I hope they give some kind of explanation about why Josh was so harsh on Eddie. That seemed out of character for Josh and was just awful. A supervisor talking to another employee like that is so inappropriate and I don't understand why it happened other than to further show how out of place Eddie is right now.

Ehh, it was okay.
itz-mare23 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was decent, but not the 9-1-1 I know and love.

The team feels off without Maddie and Chimney. I was under the impression they'd come back soon, but since they just introduced two replacements, I guess not. Otherwise, why go through the trouble just to only have them for a few episodes? It's quite difficult to like the replacements this way.

The first emergency felt a little rushed and odd, but I liked the other case, it was easy to connect with the parents and felt really suspenseful. I'm happy that Eddie will finally get a PTSD-storyline, but right now it seems too similar to Buck's storyline when he wanted to go back to work and Bobby declined.

Another storyline that's reused is the cheating storyline. Aside from that it's an overused plotline in tv-shows/movies in general, we've already seen this with Hen. If they really wanted to show that Buck was not happy in his relationship with Taylor, they should've created more build-up to that moment. Also, I feel like it wasn't that true to Buck's character.

So, overall, this episode was watchable but not very original or entertaining. The next episode about Maddie and Chimney looks better and I will be watching.

Not that bad.
mdcyg22 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
To me, the episode really was not that bad. I think it's setting everything up for the back half of this season. Sure, I get being mad at Buck for cheating, but it's showing an underlining problem in his current relationship that he made on impulse. I actually like Lucy so far, she's not that bad. As for Jonah, I'm not sure if I care for him because like how Hen feels, nobody can replace Chimney; and Lucy can't replace Eddie, either. As for Eddie lashing out at Bobby, it is very clear he is showing symptoms PTSD. Sometimes people just lash out when upset and they need someone to take it out on, even when unintentionally. And lastly, as for copying s3, I kind of enjoy it. I'm a buddie shipper so for me, this is going to make the edits quite good! And I'm excited to see how Buck will support Eddie through him getting help. I'm also excited to see Madney back next week, it's going to be a very emotional episode and I've missed one of my favorite couples on the show SO much.

Overall, the episode wasn't that bad for me. Definitely better than most of what 5A gave us. Maybe give this back half a chance, since Oliver and the rest of the cast is excited and says it 'feels like old 9-1-1'? I'm not paying attention to the writers since the show is more than just them; producers, set designers, the actors themselves, etc make the show and how things are interpreted. The show isn't over yet, who knows what the show will bring us and bring the characters.

More than a Kiss
Emelyemmma23 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I read a lot of harsh reviews about this episode beforehand. Now the episode is available on iTunes and I finally got to see it. I don't understand a lot of fans. Yes, cheating is wrong. But it's something that happens in relationships. And I admire the courage to deal with this topic. It was a kiss And then the panic to confess it to the partner. True, the character of Buck has grown over the past few years. But he's still full of trauma and insecurities. And why did the kiss even happen? That doesn't happen when you're happy in a relationship. The important thing now is how they deal with it in the next few episodes. What are they doing for Taylor.

The rest of the episode was also full of action and emotions. The Bomb. Eddie and his new job. The conversation with Bobby. Heartbreaking. Give the episode a chance. Try to stay objective. And trust the authors. I'm sure it's going to be a great story. And let's honor the great performance of the actors. (English is not my first language)

Fire Kristen already
sandovalpsandrap22 March 2022
What was once an interesting show about first responders is now the setting for Kristen's wattpad-like storytelling where she's the most special girl and our main boy falls for every iteration of her. She's once again pushing OG characters aside to make room for her now two white woman self inserts.

Where's my show?
TIN-370-91832722 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The way the show runners and writers have managed to ruin everything I loved about this show in one season.

I have several issues. One... why spend so much time focused on Taylor during the first half of the season to torpedo Buck's entire years worth of character development in one episode? There are so many ways they could have showed Buck struggling.

Second... I do not care about new characters. The cast is over inflated and the new "Buck" doesn't bring anything to the table. It was sloppy and an eh introduction, that has been extremely hyped. She was brought in to simply make Buck a cheater. What is the entire point of this plot? Did they run out of ways to actually further his growth? Unsure of what to do with women characters? Cheating is an old and tired plot point and the show runners spent interview after interview this week patting themselves on the back for it. I've never liked Taylor, but I had high hopes that Buck would be the one to end it, simply because he was growing and understanding it's not what he wanted. But, now I cannot wait for Taylor to end it.

I love Eddie and Chris and Eddie were the only things I enjoyed about this entire episode. Eddie and Chris finally have a conversation that was long overdo and Gavin and Ryan play so well off each other. I can't say enough about how much I loved their entire scene. I have no doubt that Ryan will kill this arc, hopefully his material will continue to shine. Cause the rest of the episode was a mess.

Amazing episode for Eddie Diaz lovers
kabiraencore200528 March 2022
I've been waiting too damn long for eddie to get a storyline that had nothing to do with love interests, and I'm not letting anything ruin this for me. This episode introduced this storyline beautifully, and I'm soo hyped to see it all come out in the episodes after 5x12.

As for whatever they're doing with Buck... I honestly don't think anyone should really care that much. Trust the writing, guys, they know what they're doing and it'll be good in the end.

But yeah, Eddie saved the episode in every way. 10 stars because when is an Eddie-centric episode ever bad?

Actually a decent premiere
YouGotTimeForASinner29 March 2022
To be honest, I have never been more weary going into a premiere. Was excited for months and then certain interviews days before left me kind of taken aback. Regardless, this episode was entertaining, well paced and covered quite a bit of ground to set up what MAY really be a really great season in terms of character development. I am so invested in Eddie's story, and was really impressed by Ryan. LOVED seeing Christopher (Gavin). He makes any episode 1000x better. A little superstar. Also the moment with Bobby (Peter) was amazing work by both of them.

The emergencies were intense and interesting and well done (shout out to the stunt team). I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Hen and Buck together, they have excellent chemistry and I love them as an underrated duo - it's always nice to see them have each others back.

The elephant in the room obviously is the introduction of Lucy and her interactions with Buck. IF this is a set up for a long term love interest story line then... good luck? But also why? I am going to hope it's not (honestly would be the worst thing the show has done and there's been some real taylor kelly style misteps) and reserve judgement for now. I mean, the direct reference to Buck's own comment in "Buck Actually" about girls at the bar and margaritas really makes me want to believe this is a regression point for him which he will have to overcome...Whilst many had valid concerns that it felt like a huge out of character moment for Buck (and I agree, disloyalty isn't really his M. O.), it really depends on where the story heads. There probably was better ways to end the Buck and Taylor relationship that was doomed from the start, but I don't enjoy perfect characters and it does at least set up some good conflicts. I really hope the execution and journey is worth it.

It is, however, really hard to get on board with a new character when they are introduced like that. Also - the parallels to how Eddie was introduced/some of the choices in the episode feel WAY to on the nose for show runners who claim the audience is interpreting a relationship wrong?? (Pro tip: try not to gaslight an audience for deliberate writing). Paired with all the interviews pushing Lucy as a new character, in a season that should really be focusing on its existing characters since the first half of the season felt like a complete waste, it's all just very..Meh. 5 minutes of screen time and I'm already kind of over the character. Guess we will see! I have no real thoughts on Jonah yet because he doesn't feel like much more than a temporary plot device - definitely feel he was a bit shady though and curious as to where that goes (twists and turns were teased).

911 is back
pipkinhill12 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I loved this episode start to finish! The eddie storyline has me begging for more, we've waited a long time to see the fallout of everything he's been through and it's finally here and stretching over multiple episodes. I know a lot of people are mad about what happened with buck and are saying it's ooc. It's really not! Buck's always had an unhealthy relationship with intimacy so seeing him regress when he's lost maddie, chim, and eddie isn't a big shock. Character development going backwards isn't a bad thing always when it's for the plot. I'm excited to see where this season takes buck too and hope people realize he isn't in a great place either, he made a mistake and that's all it is. Hopefully he'll be able to realize he keeps himself in these unhappy relationships out of fear of being alone.

EDDIE IS YOUR BACK HURTING?
iri-3242922 March 2022
I'm so sorry to give this episode a 5 but literally the only thing that saved it from a 0 were Eddie's scenes. Really happy and proud he finally will be able to process his trauma and ptsd. He carried the whole episode hope his back is not hurting. I'm not even gonna comment the rest cause I will pretend it never happened.

I don't even know anymore
feeling_young22 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I've been sitting here for the past hour thinking what to write... I guess I'll start with the things I liked.

The Eddie and Chris escenes are always amazing. I love them, I love their dinamic. The scene of the both of them talking at the dinner table was my favorite thing on this ep. I also enjoyed the scene of Eddie at dispatch, such a competent king. And the scene of him and Bobby? What a way to give us a heartache.

Now, moving on on the things I didn't like. Oh, boy.

I just, what's even going on with Lucy and Buck? How does that even make sense? Buck waited a long time for Abby to come back, and now, while he's in a relationship with Taylor, he has no problem going and kissing Lucy.

And the kiss isn't even the worst part. Hen telling him he shoulnd't tell Taylor, then changind her mind and telling him he totally should tell her. At that point I just though he was /considering/ not telling her, not that he would actually go and lie to Taylor to her face, tell her he loved her and asked her to move in. I mean, I knew they were moving in together, but I didn't think it was going to be under this circumstances... I don't even like Taylor, but she doesn't deserve this. I wanted him to realize his relationship with Taylor wasn't working, but not through a cheating plot that feels cheap and tasteless.

And now, we have Kristen Reidel and Arielle Kebbel talking about Buck & Lucy as if they already were a sure thing... And it's kinda insulting because they're literally pairing them up already only because they're hot and a man and a woman. Eddie has been there for literal years, he and Buck share such a bond, are linked by so many things, but are only ´very good friends´. All of this without mentioning how homophobic Kristen has sounded in her interviews. It's just. I can't.

The three stars are literally only thanks to Eddie and Chris.

What?
brittybear-0335122 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Anyone else sick to their stomach? Me too! An episode full of decent action ruined by complete and total character assassination. I was excited for Arielle to join - I'm a fan - and I absolutely hate everything she represents because she just aided in destroying 4 seasons of character growth for Buck. He's my absolute favorite and he's a lot of things, but a cheater is not one of them! I am so angry at the writers for assassinating his character like this. I don't even like Taylor and I cannot believe Buck is a slimy cheater. I'm not coming back from this - I am done! Congrats Tim, hope focusing on LoneStar and letting KR take over was worth it because a fan favorite has been ruined and my favorite show is now trash! Buck would never cheat - how do you not even know your own characters? Gross!

This episode was a masterclass in butchering a beloved character so much he isn't recognizable, misogynistic storytelling where the only point of a new female character is to be a love interest - one that is there purely for a cheating plot at that, and an egotistical 'this is MY story not yours' leadership by the showrunners. I do not recognize this show as the one I fell in love with.

Lucy is not a breath of fresh air. Lucy is quite possibly going to be the reason people switch off for the rest of the season and it isn't even her fault. What an incredibly awful episode. What terrible storytelling. What an appalling way to snub fans overall.

Waited three months for this??

Warning: Spoilers
I was looking forward to the return of 9-1-1 for so long, but ended up being utterly disappointed with what we got. So much so, that it's really making me question the competence of the decision-makers here.

Sorry, but Buck's storyline this episode was disgusting. Full stop. Far be it from me to stand up for Taylor because I loathe her as much as the next person, but Buck kissing Lucy and then lying about it was just wrong. It's so obvious from the interviews that have come out that they're trying to push some future romance with Lucy and Buck, but this was a god-tier awful way of going about it. They somehow managed to make TAYLOR look like the sympathetic figure, while making Buck and this thing he's trying to develop with Lucy look just downright pathetic. Who in their right mind is actually going to root for Buck and Lucy to get together after this?? It's not cute. And nice going Kristen, turning what could've been awesome female representation into nothing but a sexual object for a man to pine over. A+ for feminism right there. Just awful.

Sorry, but my hopes aren't high if this season continues this way. The cast is already bloated, and I don't need this godawful Buck/Lucy "will they/won't they" taking up valuable screentime, when we all know any relationship born from cheating is bound to crash and burn anyway. If the show tries to condone it at all, or even attempts to make this whole "flirty" situation between the two of them look cute, I'm out.

Copy and paste of season 3
mallorygoudin22 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This thinly veiled set up to copy and paste the back half of season 3 fell flat. Buck cheating is gross and the new characters are unnecessary (and replacing diverse characters of color with white people is bland at and annoying at best). It's just more wasted airtime on secondary characters no one cares about that plagued the first half of the season.

The only bright spots were Eddie and Christopher's discussion and Eddie confronting Bobby - which even that felt eerily similar to Buck's confrontation with Bobby in season 3.

Overall I am not looking forward to the rest of the season, not am I likely to watch. I'd give it zero stars if I could.

This season is overall the weakest and Kristen Reidel is terrible at her job. She has no original ideas - and shelving deep and meaningful relationships that we spent three seasons building for overused "love interest' tropes (read - heteronormative) is so early 2000's. It's 2022. Be bold and groundbreaking, not tired and predictable.

Why?
idontbelieveinmagic22 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Expectations were low but I didn't think so much!

The only good thing are the Diaz boys, Christopher is truly a national treasure and seeing, finally, father and son talking to each other was truly touching and the highlight of the whole episode. Eddie's torment is a punch in the gut and the worst is yet to come, but right now his story is the only thing holding me back from leaving the show.

For everything else, I am speechless.

How they managed to completely destroy Buck's progress in the space of an episode is something I can't explain.

Basically, the moment Eddie told him to move on, he kissed the girl who is Eddie's replacement at 118 and in the end, Buck is not only a cheater, but also a liar to his girlfriend and a hypocrite for what he told Eddie 10 episodes earlier.

What a way to screw up a character, there is no going back from this, and if the purpose was a BuckTaylor breakup, then there were a thousand better and more respectful ways to do it. I never liked Taylor, I want her gone, but she doesn't deserve this and neither does Buck's character.

But after all the horrible interviews over the past few days, I should have seen that coming.

In Kristen's mind, Buck cheating with this "breath of fresh air" is a good and believable storyline while Buck and Eddie's chemistry and potential are just fandom imagination, but writers can make fun of this same fandom by inserting "little jokes" because obviously "no matter how, as long as you talk about it".

Maybe Tim & Co. Should take their own advice and read some fanfics because they clearly lack ideas - this Eddie story arc is a carbon copy of Buck's season 3 lawsuit era and Lucy is both Lena and Eddie - it's unnerving! And maybe, by reading some good things, they could learn that when you create a character, then you have to take an interest in him, his development and his emotions, as the writers of fanfiction do, otherwise the story is going to fail.

This is just embarrassing.
danevanzyl-8119022 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know what is going on anymore. Reusing old plots, continuously bringing in new women for the SOLE PURPOSE of being love interests, throwing the character development of MULTIPLE CHARACTERS down the drain in ONE EPISODE? They can't even keep track of their current mains and now they're bringing in new ones?

Would not be surprised if season 6 gets rejected. Get new writers in that room asap, because the current ones? Yikes.
