The daughter!
vickiekay17 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was a good but very frustrating episode. I couldn't believe the husband was chastised for smashing the daughter's phone. That kid is an entitled and annoying character. They should show more of the son.

Mia Farrow does a great job at making her character unlikeable and I wish they hadn't killed off Margot Martindale's character so early!!

I love the storyline and can't wait to find out who the watcher is!

I can't help but feel like the realtor friend is a jerk because she is obsessed with selling the house if they choose to list it again. She's not a very good friend.

I think more people are in on this than just the watcher.

Anything goes in New Jersey.
Sleepin_Dragon20 October 2022
Theodora continues to dig away, she finds an interesting piece of information, one that possibly points to the identify of The Watcher.

Is the whole town against Dean, the whole state? Every time he tries to get an answer, all he gets is.....it's fine in New Jersey, I have a feeling there'll be a triple murder, but it'll be fine, it's New Jersey.

Interesting, with some surreal events and happenings, the best moment perhaps coming right at the end.

I think this was a really enjoyable episode, definitely more interesting than the last, now you really can see life spiralling out of control, for Dean, Nora, and their dismal daughter.

Karen, definitely deserves the name, the only thing that she's missing, is the outfit, consisting of a long nose, pointed black hat, and cape.

I am really intrigued, and can't wait to learn exactly what's going on, so far it's been good, I think they git everything pretty spot on here, 8/10.

Episode 4
bobcobb30121 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The Dean character continues to lose all mental stability. It is not clear what his long-term plan is and the show's long-term plan but we are along for the ride.

A 19 year old dating a 16 year old should be creepy in everyone's mind and I have to wonder if this was just an aspect of the real world they wanted to incorporate or if they actually felt the need to add this fictionalized subplot. Either way, it isn't the best part of the show by any stretch, but certainly adds to the awkwardness of all things.

Disappointed we only have 3 episodes left, but I hope they find a way to wrap it up well.

Poor Dean
polsixe18 October 2022
After four episodes the husband seems completely gaslit and doesn't know what is going on. Maybe the whole town is in on it. All the neigbors, the detective, the private investigator, the security guy, the real estate folks all seem odd. A neat mystery unfolding but how they wrap it up vis a vis the real story is a puzzle. Cannavale is good so far, Watts has a much lesser role as a spouse, so far. There are a lot of differences from the actual story but that's OK in this form as the Producers and Showrunners need to add some material to keep it all moving. There are strange enclaves and residential areas so some of the plotting may be possible.

This Episode begins with Dean and Nora, she knows something Dean did. Dean continues his investigation to catch The Watcher. Ellie lied to Dean. A fight between Dakota and Dean begins. Dakota is one of The Watcher suspects. Dean goes crazy when he sees Ellie's video about her relationship with Dakota. Dakota sended the Pat Graff 'sextape' to Dean's boss. Dakota thought that Dean was The Watcher. Nora wants to divorce after she saw the Pat Graff 'sextape'. Dean sees Maureen, but she is dead already. Nice Episode of The Watcher Season 1, another great episode! Looking forward for more action and thrilling moments!

I SHOULD rate it less, but I'm still so intrigued.

Warning: Spoilers
At this point, episode 4, the show should be called Jump to the Worst Possible Implausible Conclusions, becuz that's what this show has turned into.

However! I can actually appreciate its, what I can only guess is a coincidence, portrayal of what I believe way too many people are like now in America... easy to believe a worst case scenario. Everybody wants to be insulted or upset about something these days. Everybody is so sensitive that they almost purposely take things the wrong way, just to be dramatic or have their lives be something worth complaining to everyone about. It's a systemic problem due to this generations insistent need to live on social media. Point being, even the most ridiculous 20 year old drama queen could see that these people are being ridiculous.

SO I SAY, even tho all the reviews are accurate about the writing and how these people are all unrealistically insane in their own ways, EVERYBODY IN THIS GENERATION SHOULD WATCH THE WATCHER, PLEASE!!! So you can see how silly your generation is.

Updated my rating, -1 for NOT SCOURING THE HOUSE/BASEMENT TO FIND OUT HOW THESE CRAZY A**HOLES GET INTO YOUR HOUSE! HELLO!!!!

Another update! -1 ... WHY IS THERE NO CAMERA FACING YOUR MAILBOX!?!? HOLY SH..!

This is where it falls apart.

Warning: Spoilers
I thought it was a pretty good story so far, but the holes in this episode piss me off! First of all, the brilliant private detective does not realize that the security guard kid could not have been sending the letters for the past few decades? The guys boss says the video does not look staged yet you can clearly see flickers at the beginning of it, it's choppy and crude suggesting that it was in fact staged. And he is comatose in his bed not even waking up so where is the rest of the video? Why didn't they watch more to proof nothing happened? The kid installed the system in the first place..

Classic horror cliché
macauleyd9619 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Obviously the wife doesn't believe the 'crazy' husband. This show started off strong and turned into your classic horror cliché.

This episode had some good moments with the backstory of the house coming through. It was interesting to see how the murders of the house have started to play a role in the family's lives and even trying to frame Dean. However, the typical 'one parent goes crazy and the other one doesn't believe them' cliché doesn't sit right with me anymore. Even though Nora knows what's going down in that house, she still doesn't believe him. And the boss? Boring horror cliché. Maybe the other episodes will be less predictable.

99% Flashback Exposition
TheFearmakers19 October 2022
When the main character, the father of a visually perfect family, hires a private eye to find the letter-writer... who knew she would wind up talking and talking and talking through a series that hardly spends time on the present characters we're supposed to spend time caring about...

When this investigator talks, telling the dad about all the previous owners and whoever else seems like possible Watcher-culprits, we have to sit through more flashbacks than our minds know what to do with them...

Eddie Murphy did a standup bit on how stupid "white people" are in horror movies, like Amityville, and that they'd actually stay in the house when they're literally told to "Get Out" and he's so right...

This family... including a magazine model daughter who instantly "falls in love" with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, and doesn't think she's pretty, and a pretty wife seeming straight out of Stepford: Basically, this family is an afterthought on their own series and, if this review seems like rambling, well... you should try WATCHING this series.
