At all the bad reviews. I thought this episode was great. I had little hope after the last one but this one kind of blew me away. Steer clear of the negative reviews, this episode is great.

Too much melodrama in this episode
85122221 June 2022
Greetings from Lithuania.
This season 4 so far is the most melodramatic so far. After explosive season opener, it quickly settled itself into drama, and later into melodrama. And as far as melodrama's goes, this one is that bad - i like it. That said this season hopefully will pick up sooner or later, because there are only two episodes left and i don't want to spend listening about Tate's... you know what i mean.

Warning: Spoilers
Let's see. Right in the beginning , I thought i was watching a western , about stealing horses and men hanging , then a man leaking blood at his home , of course this was a lead up to 1883 , the prequel to this show.
Jimmy is settling in at the 6666 , and has a new girlfriend , Emily , dinner then desert.
Protesters , big wigs , blah , blah , Beth does some fixing .
Monica and Kaycee are going to have a baby , sweet , Tate will be needing a raise for baby sitting .
Dinner with Rip , Beth , Carter and John was memorable , am sure that entire scene took awhile to pull it off, fruit in the salad , steak and cake .
Jamie calls wont go to the neutral ground at the lodge , its haunted .
Last scene omg was filmed in Missoula, Mt at Ruby's Cafe , place is held up by robbers Rip and John have shoot out , one of the men gets pulled out from a broken window by Rip gets pummeled , the rest of the robbers end up at Boot Hill , unfortunately Donnie the Sherriff dies before he could finish his steak and eggs .
Ruby's Cafe is really an actual diner. Been around for at least 50 years , I drive past the place a lot and am glad this show did a climactic scene at the end of this episode there.

Why all the bad ratings ?

I understand that many of you are frustrated (Including me) that they're not focusing on the Yellowstone story and they keep showing us promos of the new prequel show '1883' and Jimmy's story on '6666'.
Regardless of what I wrote above this was a good episode and I really liked the ending and it shocked me.
Anyway I wish if Taylor Sheridan focuses on Yellowstone only and not promote the other shows by showing them on yellowstone because we don't want the show to lose momentum and populaity because it's a great show.

Get over yourself

This series had to have a putz, it was decided that Jamie was that boy. Not super clever. Jamie's baby mama evidently is the 21st century Lady Macbeth, not very original. Writer's need to get past the sexy and live up to your pay grade! Please give us more real, less self indulging...Everyone liberal or conservative appreciates that.
Prostrate!!.

REALLY!! I love this show.. and my last review i gave 10 stars, but Daaamn, Does Beth EVER! Sit at that dinner table and ever ACTUALLY! Finish a meal without walking out EVERY SINGLE TIME!!.
I mean.. John Sutton is her father & the Head of the table and countless amount of times he's told her about her dinner conversation but nope, .she just continues to disobey him to the point where you start to wonder how he can justify Jamie's, or Lloyd's actions and hasn't taken Beth to the Train Station..
I think Beth's actions are getting a bit tedious now, because NO ONE! Would get away with the way she treats people in the real world now.. she'd be told to go bleep herself.. in all honesty..!!.

Like I said, the writers are getting tired

I think they're all jockeying for a writer's job on the next project, be it the 6666 ranch or the "prequel" ,1883.
Little clues let you know what's happening.
Things like stretching out an episode with ever thinner plots, caricatures of New York type financiers and milking the father/son dynamic to the point of making it annoying.
There's also a couple of roles that they've made too difficult to watch, the orphan kid and Beth to name but two.
In this episode Beth continues her blunderbuss ways as a big shot in the Equities firm she is trying to decimate. There's a scene with Dutton and Rip later on that's right out of "Pulp Fiction" which is just the best, as far as action is concerned.
Not much development on Dutton's run for Governor or Jamie's run for the same job but there's a very irritating scene with Jamie and his real father that has you cringing.
Don't get me wrong, it's still gripping stuff but they are lost on character development and there's only so much you can do either on a ranch or in politics in Montana.
Once it's done we'll know it ( the series creator already knows it). We'll all stick with it to the final episode and look back on the show as one of the best .

The robbery scene
pandogga21 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'm wondering if John Dutton told the cop's daugther over phone that he is the reason that her daddy is dead now. He came into the restaurant and started the shooting and the scene ended into abrupt chaos. Without him maybe the robbers just left with some dollars in their pockets and cop could have finished his meal.
Season feels like ...

Keep Yellowstone, Yellowstone.
ianpirie-8402620 December 2021
Like many other reviewers, I love Yellowstone, best thing on TV (although Dexter new blood is close). I appreciate they want to plug the new series but the introduction has nothing to do with the episode. Just keep it as an advert and keep the 2 series separate.
What happened to this show?
kuzco-4576320 December 2021
We wasted 8 minutes off the start for a long promo of 1883 & it had nothing to do with the episode. From there we meander to Jimmy down in Texas at the 6666 to plug the other new spin off & eventually we get to see the actual Yellowstone & the plot line kind of develops for the land grab to build the airport & they start to set up John vs Jamie plot line. Overall this was a horrible episode & leaves me wondering if the writers took this season off.
65 Minutes...About 20 Minutes Of Yellowstone
Thomas-FordJr-120 December 2021
I really like this show, but this is getting ridiculous. The episode was mostly boring filler, but that wasn't the biggest issue. The biggest issue is that the actual show, was only one about 20 minutes. The rest of the time slot was filled with a ton of commercials, and endless promos for the upcoming show '1883'.
Hey Taylor Sheridan...how about finishing your current show, before you begin to shamelessly plug your next show?
Very disappointing episode and viewing experience, on many levels.

Somebody has lost focus
DrMarazanvose21 December 2021
Taylor Sheridan is doing very well for himself at the moment with Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown and 1883 bubbling away on the stove.
After watching this episode and being left flat by the end, I just wonder whether he's got too many irons in the fire and his rich storytelling has become somewhat diluted.
Really not impressed wth this season at all.

Worst Episode
doug2go23 July 2022
I would rate Yellowstone a 9 as a series and recommend it to anyone who likes good drama , action , romance and a touch of humor - can't ask for more - Having said that this particular episode was an effort in self indulgence for the producers and Paramount - showing a 10 minute commercial clip for the series 1883 at the beginning was sleazy enough but what most don't know is that to make room for the commercial they cut a great love scene between Rip and Beth form the episode - but left Jimmy's journey of no consequence in the episode - whoever edited this episode should be fired.
Phoning it in
rlda-3832914 July 2022
Uninspired.. predictable..DOA.. I WAS GONNA QUIT, but a friend said hang in there, it gets better. What'd I ever do to him? Circling the drain. Having watched half of 1883, r here a pandemic of bad writing. These two series are super spreaders.
Yellowstone 90210 in the multiverse.
terrylarosa20 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Another pointless episode. What was the beginning about? Different last name and now he has two sons instead of a daughter and son? Were those different characters or has Yellowstone now entered the Marvel multiverse? Intelligent people will know what that means. Certainly not the ones that should be ashamed of championing Beth. Another tasteless, disgusting, reprehensible moment at the dinner table. She is such a gross character that it's getting harder to watch this show with her staining any scene she's in. I've come to the conclusion that Rip and Dutton are just clueless about what she says so they just nod or shake their heads. Woe unto them. To make things worse we are continuously bombarded with Jimmy's interminable and unlikely love life. That love scene was one of the worst things I've seen in this show and this show has the worst character on TV ( Beth ) so you can imagine. Only really good scene was as usual Stacy's and his family. Monica is above Beth as a woman in every way as we are above the amoeba. Gunfight at the end was ok but what robbers would rob an establishment with a cop present?? Mercifully only two, no doubt terrible episodes left and we can close this abhorrent season but we now have a new excellent show. 1883. Eons above this fallacy.
"The Beth and Rip Show" as epitome of lazy writing
Ziro1025 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Where to even begin with this masterpiece of a episode? I mean, Jamie's biological father is basically a genius strategist on par with Tywin Lannister, it's like he's been planning his whole life for this moment.
And let's not forget about Monica and Kayce's storyline, I mean who needs chemistry between them after 4 seasons when you can have blandness and always the same facial expression of Monica?
And Beth, the most lovable character of them all, with her unique personality and heartwarming backstory. We got it, your childhood was crap. You are strong. We got it. And we definitely need more of her and Rip's love story, it's not like we've seen it a million times before.
And what's with the New York financial whales storyline in combination with the boring activists? A special unit moves in to arrest a few unwashed activists, interesting.
Same goes for Jimmy's storyline, because we all know he's just a chick magnet without even trying, it's not like we need character development or anything.
But the real MVP is John and Rip's little Pulp Fiction reenactment, because who wouldn't rob a diner in the middle of day while the sheriff sits there enjoying his meal. And John playing the hero with a masterplan and navy seal cooperation with Rip. If it wasn't for John's heroic actions, the sheriff would still be alive.
