Finally
itellstoriez20 March 2022
Well it appears the show's creator's purposely took it's time getting to the episode that pretty much changes everything. I don't think this episode would have been as strong as it is if the level of dread and violence had been constant from the beginning. This was by far the best in terms of pace, tone, etc. And the monsters are some of the scariest I've seen beacuse they're motivations seem to be much more than just kill, kill, kill. There is a mystery to their origins and their nature that has not been revealed yet.

Really strong episode.

This one kept me on the edge of my seat. Great tension builder
garyvines-0129018 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So we've seen glimpses of the monsters in the woods up until this point, but not as much interaction with them as in this episode. There was a tension builder the whole episode.... the flowers, the talks through the windows...the party...what could go wrong? Well, you will find it out in this one.

I have enjoyed this show so far, but honestly needed a little bit of excitement and this episode delivered. The scene where the one is looking over the banister grinning is still haunting me!

I like this show, it's sort of filling that void that "The Walking Dead" left when it went off the air. There is good character development, the monsters in this are way creepier and more mysterious than zombies as they can talk and apparently are intelligent.

Yes! You should watch this show and be ready for this episode.

Episode 7
bobcobb3017 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Just like Michael Myers this show gives us slow-moving bad guys, but they manage to still make an impact regardless. This time around it was not just minor characters killed as the Father got struck by one of the monsters and died. That was not something that I had expected.

This show has me hooked in so far. It is definitely not the greatest acting you will ever see, but it is a simple horror premise and keeps us on the edge of our seats. That's all you need.

I still feel like we need at least one house break-in a week though, we need to see the scary zombies more to get the point of their danger across.

A Satisfying Unraveling of Secrets
ameerbarram6 July 2023
The seventh episode of "From" delivers a satisfying unraveling of secrets, showcasing the show's ability to keep viewers engaged and invested in the story. Titled "A Satisfying Unraveling of Secrets," this episode proves to be a strong addition to the first season, leaving audiences eagerly anticipating the next installment.

One of the standout aspects of this episode is the strong character development. The writers have taken the time to delve deeper into the motivations and backstories of the main characters, allowing the audience to form a stronger connection with them. The performances of the cast members are commendable, with each actor bringing depth and nuance to their respective roles.

The pacing of the episode is well-executed. The plot unfolds at a steady pace, allowing for the gradual reveal of key information without feeling rushed. The director's choice to focus on the emotional journey of the characters adds an extra layer of depth to the storytelling, making it more than just a mere mystery. The audience is kept on their toes, eagerly awaiting each new revelation.

Visually, the episode continues to impress. The cinematography is visually stunning, with each shot carefully composed to enhance the mood and atmosphere of the scene. The use of lighting and color palettes effectively conveys the emotions of the characters, adding an extra layer of depth to the storytelling. The production design and costumes remain consistent and visually appealing, creating a cohesive and immersive viewing experience.

Furthermore, the episode successfully ties up some loose ends from previous episodes while introducing new twists and turns to keep the audience engaged. The narrative continues to surprise and challenge viewers, keeping them guessing at every turn. The show's ability to maintain suspense and intrigue is a testament to its strong storytelling.

However, one minor drawback of this episode is that it introduces a few new plot threads without fully exploring them. While this may be intentional to set up future episodes, it can leave viewers wanting more immediate resolution. It is crucial for the series to provide satisfying answers in upcoming episodes to keep the audience invested in the overall story.

The boil is finally lanced!
bosporan4 April 2022
Jasmine's (Molly Dunsworth) temptress wooing succeeds with the inevitable conclusion à la Midnight Express. Victor's pivotal role is becoming more intriguing as extra information comes to light. Better than the previous two or three episodes which dragged unnecessarily, this languid approach adds nothing to the crescendo. Now there is true tension and the next episode promises much, let's hope it delivers.

Even this deep into the season we still suffer the drudgery of exposition, now a vacuous soliloquy from the Reverend (Shaun Majumder) followed by cringeworthy dialogue between him and Boyd: Harold Perrineau - who played the terrible one-note 'save my son' character in Lost and is no better here.

This episode was one of the worst episodes of the series
mahdipourlotfi23 February 2024
This episode was one of the worst episodes of the series I was surprised The excitement was such that I had to pause in many places to be able to see the rest.

Especially at the end of the episode, something interesting happened, I don't want to spoil it.

I'm waiting to see what happens next!!

I am at the height of my excitement now that I am writing!

I don't want to watch horror series, but this series is really one of the best in its genre, it's scary and doesn't have extreme scenes like Saw and... How much can a person's mistake really affect the lives of others!

Emotional decisions often cause devastating mistakes!

How much more should I write before you let me post?

From here on, I wrote a form to be filled and see what happens.

The Most Promising Episode Since the Pilot
ahmadz83919 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode seven, "All Good Things," completely surprised me. This has been the most promising episode since the pilot, and my optimism for the show has been restored.

The colony house was a ticking time bomb, so I'm not too shocked by the events that transpired there. Regardless, it was still a fantastic sequence. I'm a little bummed that "From" seems to be shifting its focus from the genuine horror of its earlier episodes to the mystery now, but if it's done well, I won't mind.

Now that the bulk of the exposition has been covered, the show can hopefully build on this episode's success and continue to impress as the first season comes to a close. I appreciate how the show's monsters have depth beyond simply killing and are motivated by other factors. Discovering their true agenda will be intriguing.

While some characters are dumbed down unnecessarily, I love all the exciting possibilities "From" offers. As an aside, I'm curious as to whether or not the boy in white is related to the boy Father Khatri failed. Since Father Khatri remarked on the boy's innocence, we can assume that the choice of all-white attire was not coincidental. I can't wait to see where the show takes us next.

I'm HOOKED! Excited for season 3!
pxzgkm23 March 2024
So glad I found this show. It's mysterious with amazing & unique thriller/horror elements that really stuck out to me.

Harold Perrineau Does an excellent job as Sheriff Boyd he holds the show literally on his back. Supporting cast members are decent some could use more acting classes nonetheless the show is a fun watch. It can be pretty slow at some points & extremely confusing but that's how they build up to those scenes that will have you hanging off the edge of your seat. Every episode leaves you asking a ton of questions. I can't wait until Season 3 I think that season will explain alot more.

I recommend especially if you're into mysteries with thriller/horror undertones.

Slow and telegraphed but still enjoyed it
Harkonnen220 March 2022
Pretty much everything that happens in this episode was telegraphed in the previous episodes so you know pretty much what's going to happen.

That being said it was still a decent episode, hopefully this begins the shake up where the story moves faster and some answers are provided.

We finally get some action...but still poorly written, and idiotic characters ruin the story.
Thomas-FordJr-124 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So it took us to get to episode 7, to finally get some action in this series. This series was dragging itself into the depths, since the good start from the first episode. You can see my original review for this show, for my thoughts up to this point.

But anyway.... This show is still plagued by a tired story, overdone plot devices, unrealistic situations, and characters making some of the dumbest decisions you'll ever see(even by horror movie standards). I'll list a few of them.... SO HERE WE GO!!!

1. "Free Love Hippie House". Yes...the 'FLHH', probably the most idiotic thing in this show. Why on this green Earth, would you have a place, where you can sex all you want, do drugs freely, basically live by no rules, and be a part of a multi-aged Fraternity/Sorority House.... IN A SITUATION LIKE THIS!!!??? I have no problem with people living like this, under normal circumstances. By all means...live your life. But to live like this, in a place where the life and death stakes, couldn't be any higher? It's just ridiculous.

****And how is a teenage girl allowed to live in a place like this?*****

Yeah...let's get a bunch of high, drunk, and sex crazed people, in one big house, and let's see who does something stupid that gets everybody killed. In reality, a place like this would be run more like a bunker, or a foxhole, with people hunkered down to ensure survival. Especially with so many lives on the line.

And you have the big, tough Matriarch of the house, who fronts like she runs a tight ship. But of course she lets all of the these shenanigans go on right under her nose. And she even encourages this reckless behavior. But she does have to prove how tough she is, and punch out a man(this is a must nowadays). You know...the young man the idiot offended can't punch the guy...but the tough lady can. Yeah...okay(sigh).

2. "Boy Loves Monster". Yes...I'm not making this up. We have some nerd, who obviously doesn't get enough love and attention in the 'FLHH', so he falls in love with one of the monsters. This man is so in love with this lady monster, that he leaves wovely wittle flowers for her every night(I'm not joking). And in return...the lady monster shows up every night to the locked window, tells the nerd how much she loves him, and begs him to open the window for her. And of course she promises NOT TO KILL EVERYBODY IN THE HOUSE(sigh). And you don't have to be a rocket scientists to figure out what happens next. YES...the love starved nerd opens the window and lets her in. Of course she kills him, lets the other monsters in, and the feeding frenzy begins.

Seriously...the writers couldn't have come up with a more clever way to get the monsters into the house? There is horror movie stupidity, then there's this. This entire scenario was so bad...it was funny.

3. These monsters have to be some of the slowest creations I've seen in while. I agree that they do have a creepy design when they show their true forms, but their pace just isn't threatening. And when they're not slowly walking after you, they're just standing their smiling at you with a dumb, goofy grin full of sharp teeth. You go from actually feeling a small sense of dread, to bursting out laughing. How they would manage to catch anybody that's not trapped in a confined space, is beyond me?

4. The main family of the show, well.....they're just digging a big hole in their basement. Yep....that about sums that up. While their 15 year old daughter is living in 'FLHH'(eye roll).

Good to finally see some action, but that small bit of action, is not enough to keep carrying this klunker. This show is just too heavy handed on the excessive talking, bad writing, and and silly actions by the characters.

alright
Lythas_858 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The last 2 episodes were boring.. focused on the crazy girl that hear voices or allegedly get stigmata on her body.. which served no purposed nor explained why that was..

like i said right at the begining, it seems the writers are pushing the daughter to have threesome with sheriff's son and his girlfriend.. specially after seeing the woman kissing another girl and liking it... daughter seemed to be jealous of the situation.,....

I was writing this before daughter asked to kiss the girlfriend LOL oh boy, it was obvious from the start.. she has no storyline, she fought with her mother and she had no arc whatsoever besides interacting with sheriff'son and gf.

Daughter's face when Peter set up the rope.. my God, that girl is a terrible actress.. and old guy is good. Saving the annoying daugter girl that doesnt follow what she is being told to do.. just complaining and asking why why..

the priest just stopping outside and waiting.. made no sense.. are these guys new?

2 episodes of ZZZZzz and suddenly some random dude that appeared at the end of the previous episde opens the window and gets a lot of people killed.. it was a very weak plot device they used to generate interesnt in the show after the boring episodes.. but ok it worked.

Random storytelling with bad acting and dumb characters
hnt_dnl20 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I've stuck with this show because of the intriguing Pilot, but at this point, I'm wondering why. It feels like one of those "stuff just happens" series. None of these characters are remotely interesting and they're all played by bargain basement actors. I couldn't care less about any of their sob stories because these characters are just so dumb and uninteresting. I can't fathom how they've survived for 40 years in this place. Every episode feels like 45 minutes of filler, including that incredibly long intro, then the last 5 minutes is when "stuff just happens." The priest was such a non-character to me the first few episodes, then bam...he feeds some sad backstory to the Sheriff to draw tears from the viewer, but my reaction was the same as Boyd's during the monologue, frustration and couldn't care less. Then he dies...the end. A character who was just there for 7 episodes is not there anymore. What was this barely subplot with Obnoxious Escape Room Guy, Barney Fife, and Diner Lady? The trio finds a photo in a book of drawings...so what? And this is just the random stuff. I haven't even to the dumb stuff yet.

First, the writers introduce this random Colony House guy at the end of Episode 6 who we know zero about and he has apparently been having nightly visits by this hot demon chick for who knows how long. Then this 1-minute subplot from the previous episode gets expanded on for like TWO whole minutes in this episode as this dummy lets her in the house knowing that it's forbidden and that these creatures are deadly and have killed town residents before. This is a grown man who should know better, not a clueless, ignorant kid. Second, after the demons get inside the house, this annoying Trudy character gets cornered by some of them and instead of screaming to warn the rest of the house, she just stands there and let's them attack her. In all the prior episodes, this girl wouldn't shut up for half a second and NOW she decides to turn into a mute. Third, so the "protocol" was for them to get into that tiny van in case of emergency? There's got to be a 100 people living in that house. No way they could all fit into the van. So what's the "protocol" for the other 90 people, just crap out of luck? Fourth, why did Julie, THE most annoying character of this series, opt to go into the woods with the creepy Victor where she knows these creatures come from? Why not just run towards her parents home in town? These things are walking slowly, so she can just book it into town like everyone else and find a safe home to stay in. Finally, why did the Sheriff's son jump off of a 2-story roof instead of just climbing down to safety? That zombie guy following him was nowhere near him at that point. He could have easily just safely climbed down one of the columns.

And then there's the acting, or lack thereof. I can't invest in characters or a story when I don't believe in the writing or the acting. And this series is a major fail in both. But I could be somewhat lenient IF actual entertaining things happened and the story moved at a faster pace. But every episode, it's just a bunch of filler with a new random character delivering a meaningless monologue, then "stuff just happens" in the last few minutes.

Missed opportunity
drtrance20037 April 2022
Had to give this episode a 2/10 due too the fact this could have been amazing if just a little thought went into it. Maybe it was budgeting constraints, but we could have gotten a bloodbath at colony house, really demonstrating how dangerous these creatures are, but of course most of the action is off screen and we have to IMAGINE what is happening..... FAIL!

How Does That Feel??
wandernn1-81-68327418 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There's nothing worse than a bow legged zombie. Haha. When you see the lovely girl that bites off the moron's tongue at the beginning walking through the house, she looks bowlegged and stumbly. But yes., the moron let the evil things in the house. And of course people died. No more late night frolicking for more than a dozen 'survivors'!!!

And that was hawt when she came in the room and gave Dummie a nice little clawing and then bit his tongue out! The show certainly could use a little more loving like that!!!

And we lost Trudy? That's so lame. She had the most potential to give us the loving the show needed. So bad. -2 stars right there....

AT least the daughter made an attempt with Fatima. +1 Star for that....

And the parents seem to be getting their groove back digging that huge hole in their basement!!!! 4/10.
