This is an interesting and unbiased documentary about a few volunteers who took it upon themselves to monitor incursions on their nation's border. As you would expect, most of them are colorful characters, though far from their depiction as bigots in the media, they are for the most part dedicated and intelligent dog-loving patriots, though a little crazy. Of course there are moments when they appear foolish, and some of them are likely just born fools, but that's the nature of an amateur organization. Due to focusing so heavily on the character of individual Minutemen, however, the viewer doesn't get much sense of the scope or effectiveness of their mission. There is certainly no comment from the Border Patrol. The Minutemen themselves don't seem sure if the project is vital or futile, or if the Hispanic trespassers are criminals or pawns. The seemingly common attitude of the migrants that they are entitled to enter, apparently due to the historical claim of the Spanish Crown, makes the matter clear to me. We need more Minutemen, and of course an impenetrable border.
