Good Series - Weakest Episode
bosporan8 March 2022
I am enjoying this series, but this episode does not really move things on in any meaningful way. Good that there are a few strands exploring the why/how of the situation, but nothing happens.

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 5: A filler episode, bringing near nothing to viewers, besides that girl's madness and unnecessary drama, taking one innocent life in the process in broad daylight!

That would work if all episodes were available at once, but on a weekly basis, it just shows poor writing and absence of constructive clue in producers and writers' heads.

A series like 'From' need to be compelling in each episode with real twists and average to deep plots that advance the storyline. Please take note dear executives.

A Promising Turn of Events
ameerbarram6 July 2023
"From" has been steadily building up its narrative with each passing episode, and the fifth installment of the first season proves to be a turning point for the series. Titled "A Promising Turn of Events," this episode showcases the show's potential and leaves viewers eagerly anticipating what lies ahead.

One of the standout aspects of this episode is the character development. The main protagonist, Sarah, played brilliantly by the talented actress, brings a new layer of depth to her role. Her emotional journey is captivating, as we witness her transformation from a vulnerable individual to a strong and determined woman. The writing beautifully captures her internal struggles, making her relatable and engaging.

The pacing of the episode is commendable. The plot unfolds at a steady pace, allowing the audience to fully immerse themselves in the story. The director's choice to focus on the characters' interactions and their emotional arcs adds a sense of intimacy to the episode. It is refreshing to see a show that values character development over unnecessary action sequences.

Furthermore, the cinematography in this episode is visually stunning. The use of lighting and camera angles effectively conveys the mood of each scene. The attention to detail in the set design and costumes further enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the show. It is evident that the production team has put a lot of effort into creating a visually captivating experience for the viewers.

The writing in "A Promising Turn of Events-prov-crafted, with each serving a purpose in advancing the plot or revealing more about the characters. The script seamlessly weaves together various storylines, keeping the audience engaged and invested in the narrative.

While the episode does a great job of building anticipation, it also leaves some questions unanswered. This deliberate ambiguity adds an element of mystery to the show, leaving viewers eager to uncover the truth behind the central plot. However, it is important for the series to provide satisfying answers in future episodes to maintain the audience's interest.

Overall,From" Season 1 Episode 5 - "A Promising Turn of Events" showcases the show's potential and leaves a lasting impact. The character development, pacing, cinematography, and writing all contribute to a compelling viewing experience. With its strong performances and intriguing storyline, "From" has established itself as a must-watch series.

Dragging along without offering much new.
ahmadz83919 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The fifth episode, "Silhouettes", was a mixed bag for me. While the show has been slow to start, with barely anything happening halfway through, this episode was the biggest culprit of dragging along without offering much new.

Nevertheless, I am excited to see what Boyd's "big swing" will be, and with Victor having dug all those graves last episode, it seems like bloodshed is imminent.

I noticed something: so far, Toby and Ethan have been the ones the voices have targeted, urging Sara to kill. Could it be the voices sense danger from them? Toby was Jade's friend, and Ethan is connected to the mysterious Child in the woods, who appears to be offering assistance.

Even though this episode was a letdown, I'm still looking forward to seeing where the show goes and what will happen next.

EMMY FOR PIXIES PLEASE?!
catsfan-444797 March 2022
Terrific show, and the title music might be the best ever. At first I was a little uncertain of where the show was going. Also, there are certain elements that were "borrowed" from King stories. Perhaps they are just nods to his work. As the season has unfolded this show has picked up the pace. LONG LIVE PIXIES!

Episode 5
bobcobb3012 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The pace of this show is definitely slowing down a litle bit from the faster developments and intrigue we saw early on. I think I share the concerns of IMDB users that this was not the right mindset at all.

We know they will have Sara survive somehow so there's no need to do that tease, but I think they need to focus less on the supernatural side of her and instead on the origins of the mystery.

This is a show that could really succeed by incorporating some flashback scenes into the mix to learn more about everyone and their backstories and how they all ended up in this alleged small setting.

Can we please show something other than endless conversations about nothing? There hasn't been night in like 2 episodes it's really starting to drag. I hope this starts to pick up soon otherwise it's gonna lose me.

What happened to 5... episodes 1-4 were great?
oscosc-7858629 April 2022
Wow... episode 5 goes wrong. Episodes 1-4 are pretty smartly written. They build the tension and intrigue - and have genuinely scary moments.

Episode 5 rams this into reverse, the episode bores you to death... and you suddenly have a flash of insight when the woke insert arrives. Who were the writers on this... go look. It was a female writer from the atrocious Cowboy Bebop adaptation.

I really hope the rest get back to 1-4 quality and they send the writer of 5 out to write greetings cards or something.

Competitive Monologuing
frshsts16 March 2023
I've just started getting into this series. I thought I was enjoying it. But the last two eps have made me question whether to keep up with it.

This ep has made me completely dislike every member of the Matthews family, who are supposed to be our entry point into this world. In each of Jade's and Jim's journeys, we have both white adult male newcomers decide they're going to solve the mystery of what's happening completely on their own even though the townspeople have been living here for years. Every person in town might as well have been given their own monologue about some sort of life experience they want to impose on the audience.

This episode is so obnoxiously written. Most of the acting does not help the episode get any better. I hope, since it looks like there will be a second season, that this show gets better from here.

I Can Show You A Hiding Place....
wandernn1-81-68327417 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So Sarah is the compromised one in this series thus far. Instead of Boyd / Michael haha.

She's receiving instructions on the sly from the 'others'.

Little kid Ethan seems the most interested in going home. I don't even get how people that have only been in the town a 'few months' would be doing pointless entertainment rather than looking for some sort of way out of there.

And where do they get all these clothes from? I guess there were a lot of dead people in the area initially but how many people passing through this town had more than the clothes on their backs?

Sarah..the weirdo, she attempts to kill Ethan while the mom yells from inside the rickety barn yet can't be heard from 20 feet away? Sara kills Nathan instead right in front of Father Khatri. Tabitha can hear everyone yelling outside but no one can hear her? Derrrrr.....

Series is starting to decline with dumbness. Just like what happened with La Brea and Manifest. 3/10.

Silhouettes
Prismark1030 November 2022
Poor Ethan Matthews what a shame for the little lad. He seems to be attracting the interest of all the unhinged people in the town.

The Matthews family are in no mood of sitting back and settling in as new residents or this being the new normal for them.

Jade is also struggling and he had never had any intention to settle in.

They may all have a point because there is a darkness in the edge of town.

Sara is acting oddly, maybe getting messages from the monsters in the forest. She helps herself to a scalpel and goes after Ethan.

There is always something disconcerting when a child is at risk of harm. Sheriff Boyd Steven must surely know that the arrival of the Matthews has changed everything.

All of a sudden people in the town are not safe and it is not just from the monsters.

There were odd bits in the story as a group of teens have a hiding place only they know about. I expected the residents will know every inch of the town.

The pacing is still slow, it is uneven as you just know the format is being stretched.

This kid is squird?
foszen25 May 2023
Please get this kid (ethan I think) out of the show. Not only him! But he is far the most ennoying actor. Sure his parents are proud about him. But... I hope he is really not like that in real life.

The way he looks in the camera seems he is squird without being squird. I have really no problem with that . But give him then a role tjat suits him like that. Or train him at least as an actor being not squird. Or is it a kind of early method acting?

Anyway except from this , he is besides from the character Boyd the second best actor of this show. So keep trying. He can't help it also the writers gave him stupid dialogues .

Plot proceeds exactly like LOST
nakrugt28 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The plot proceeds exactly like LOST: bunch of people crashed on an unknown place; each episode ends with another "magic box" mystery of J. J. Abrams; just like Jack Shepherd, our survivors see people who are not supposed to be there hiding in the woods; just like LOST, the buildings there built by some previous people; people question their previous lives to figure out why they deserve to be there; a group of people go into the woods with a radio to send signal to the outside world climbing a tree just like Kate; people wondering if they are dead or not; there is a mystery child just like Walt.

How did the producers and writers get away with copyright infringement?! For two seasons?!

Same plot, same characters, same character drives...
