Curious why this episode is so low rated
pinobarbaritano-448407 October 2021
This was the best episode by far. The investigation was very chilling... yeah no new games... but why went backstage... the plot developed way further... and there was so much going on... I can agree if any other one wouldn't rate this a 10... but 7 average score sounds a bit underappreciated... even the Cliffhanger got me headscratching... the police guy was the one reason that fully pulled me into this... and I think the mystery aspects of this show are one of the best I have watched in recent years...

The most important thing: Equality
evansjoshyr27 September 2021
This episode might be labelled as slow or even boring just because it doesn't have a game, which understandably can't be done every episode.

But if you look past that, you will find an episode that is very far from slow or boring. The tension is felt perhaps more than ever. Because instead of the insane massacre we are used to, the stakes are far more personal and intimate. Every life is given more value because we have known the characters for a longer period of time.

Insane episode that keeps the things I love about the show.

Tense, tense, tense moments
AvionPrince166 October 2021
The show continue and we witnessed a lot of things : the winner of the game, the doctor who have some privilege moments, the detective who want to discover the truth about his brother, bad memories about the principal character, some friendship, love broken. And the patience to know what is the next game. The detective's investigations are very interesting to follow and we know more about his brother in this episode. I clearly enjoyed it.

The second half of the series starts to set up future revelations
lareval26 September 2021
After a wild resolution from previous episode cliffhanger, the pacing slowes down to take a good look at the characters and their stories, as well the corrupted spirit of some of them involving activities kept in the dark to the masked man. Really good entry.

Behind the scenes
Leofwine_draca4 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Something different this time around after we get done with the resolution to last episode's cliffhanger. This time around we explore more of the behind the scenes set up, but it's still highly suspenseful and gorier than ever. The bad guys' moral code is quite startling.

Squid games turns into Hunger games.
mm-3917 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
A Fair World has Squid games turn into Hunger games with as sociality degree. We see the characters act in a self serving ways as groups form, politics, deception, and personal characteristic arise. Plans, group dynamic form not out of love but necessity! There is a leader, followers etc makes the character developments for the next stage for the story. Mean while, there is an investigation into who is behind the games, and cheating to make money and advantages for the up coming game for the game as the human animal evolves. I would say A Fair World is a transitional episode. 7 stars.

The side plot is finally getting more juicy
raffaellofilipus17 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode really just wanted to focus on the detective, and it's great. It shows us more of what's happening behind the scenes, and who The Front Man could possibly be. I also liked Gi-Hun's flashback scene, I just wished they showed us more of what happened other than his friend pleading for his help.

Organs
vivianla13 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The winning team walks in and the bully's team all stare in surprise.

Ugh so the doctor helps out with taking out organs to sell. The police officer keeps drawing attention to himself by asking questions he should know the answer to.

The police officer and the other disguised man wear backpacks filled with organs. They take a secret passage to go to a ship where the Chinese are. The police officer is confronted by the man and he is forced to reveal his appearance. The officer has a gun and forces the man to reveal his identity.

The police officer then says that one of those organs went to him and he pats near his hip. The man quickly says it was a woman not a man. How he knows was because they were all doing her so it wasn't a man. The police officer shoots him.

The police officer climbs up to a room that belongs to the individual in black. He goes to a side room where documents are placed. He finds that his bro was a winner in 2015 and goes through the 2015 binder until he finds his brother's page.

Exciting!
AyonSahaa18 October 2021
Loved the episode! Completely exciting and thrilling. The story revolves around it.

I like the example of equality. They have no mercy on anyone. Those who have broken the rules have been killed. Either this is a player or a worker.

Was good, but could have used a game
sdqftq9 October 2021
This was a good episode, but a lot of it was pretty boring. Yes, this was important for the series, and it was crucial to the plot, but still, it could have been a lot better.

The most forgettable but one of the most important
clarkeylogan10 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is the most weak plot wise and other than the doctor plot line and finishing off the cliff hanger from the previous episode, not much really happens. I would usually give an episode like this a 6, but it is really important if you wish to understand the rest of the series. On a rewatch after knowing what happens in the second half of the series, i can really come to enjoy the slower pacing. Solid episode.

Another weak one
elliotpower200021 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Another weak episode no game this episode. Sort of just the behind the scenes in a way looking at the masked men and also getting to know the characters better and their pasts.

Better than previous ep.
dakuchonekobing23 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The character development in this episode is quite good, although the way the 'evil doctor' acts is a bit unreasonable but I enjoyed this episode. If the director wants to end the process of those dirty masked spies who trade in dead organs, I believe there is always a better way to do it. And I wasn't very pleased with the cameraman in this episode.

There are still some absurd points, why does this organization recruit men and operate for so many years and the police still don't know? Not to mention the absurdity of the small warehouse containing all the files that looked like a joke.

A lot has been revealed in this episode, but the emotions and reality don't match. I feel there is an unfortunate omission here.

Building up the tension
spainahmad1 October 2021
This episode is weaker than the rest of episodes but still it's a great one. We can feel the tension building up and it looks like there will be some serious twists later. Can't wait!

S1.E5 - Decent Episode: Could Have Been Better [7.5/10]
panagiotis19935 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S1. E5) My Reaction / Review for Squid Game Season 1 Episode 5 ''Pyeongdeung-han sesang'': Episode 4 was good and I gave it a rating of 8.6/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. And the team wins, awesome. So there will be no night fight this time? Interesting. The pakistani guy is so kind, I hope he will suvive the games. The guards are doing something to the corpses, are they harvesting organs or something and using the player who is a doctor to do the job? Oh no, the old man is sick, that sucks, I hope he wont die. And the doctor is dead. What is the police officer thinks he is doing, he cant fight an entire army. This episode focused too much on the police officer. Overall a good episode but not as good as the previous one. My rating is 7.5/10.

Different
Abdulxoxo4 July 2022
"A fair world" feels different from the previous episodes in the way that it isn't about the players but the guards and their dealings. The plot focuses on how the guard exploit dead bodies inorder to make a quick buck for themselves. Jun-ho the infiltrator disguise as a guard goes further in his quest inorder to uncover the secret of the shadowy organization. I like how we are learning about the game through Jun-ho POV, what he knows, we know too. Overall, a good episode which expands on the world that is already established and moves the plot forward.

I'm Starting To Enjoy It More, But The Further The Story Goes, The More OBVIOUS It Is A BLATANT RIP-OFF of Animal World!
tesswysko14 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Animal World is in my top 10 all-time favorite movies, largely because it was truly an ORIGINAL plot & was so well executed! I love it for it's ORIGINALITY. The further along this series gets, the more I'm letting go and enjoying it, but also it's becoming an IRREFUTABLE doppelganger of Animal World! From the debt, to the transportation of the contestants, the Mom who's going into the hospital for serious issues for which he can't pay, the main character blowing his money on betting and being a child-like burden on his elderly Mom, signing away his Mom's house, the friend who betrayed him (when he knew what the candy-cutting game was) even knowing his friend will likely die, the fact that they're out on an island (cruise ship) way out where no one would expect them to be & no one can find them, even to the organ harvesting (on AW, some losers were also used for live human experimentation!) Also, I'm pretty sure I have had the plot-twist figured out for the last few episodes, so they've hooked me enough to keep watching until I know if I'm right or wrong. It's a GREAT idea for a movie/show, so I can understand why someone would want to do something SIMILAR, but make it ORIGINAL! Especially with a 9 episode show! You have the opportunity & plot time to take the idea and build off it! Don't use a movie like a precise blueprint, that's just plagiarism! So, because i love the premise so much, I'm hooked and have to see it to the end now, even if it irritates me!

Unenjoyable dark scenes
laszlomayer9 October 2021
Horrible episode. Wish I could see anything but apparently the director thought its a good idea to shoot a whole episode in the dark. Congrats.

[9.2] The unlocked lair...
cjonesas13 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 5: The clouds are dispersing little by little, while the players try to sleep or rather not to sleep because of the mistrust that most feel towards each other.

An important episode that sheds light on the underground activities going on with the dead and half-dead people!

The leader doesn't compromise, doesn't forgive nor forget and his evil sword cuts off head after head of those who do not respect his sense of equality and "fair game".

All that said, the detective still found the leader's lair and players' files way too easily!
