This article contains no spoilers for House Of The Dragon season 2. But it does broadly allude to events from the source material Fire & Blood.
House of the Dragon season 2 is merely one month away from its June 16 premiere on HBO. As such, many fresh tidbits are beginning to trickle out about the next batch episodes for the Game of Thrones prequel.
The latest, and most substantial download of information arrived yesterday in the form of a massive, revealing new trailer and an equally massive, revealing feature from Entertainment Weekly. While we’ve already delved into the former, there’s a detail hidden in the later that deserves further exploration.
Amid EW‘s sprawling, well-written report focusing on House of the Dragon stars Emma D’Arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen) and Olivia Cooke (Alicent Hightower), there’s a passage from series writer Sara Hess that invokes an unlikely source of inspiration for season 2: The Shining.

Since the film is being produced and distributed by Universal, which streamer it will land on is easy to answer; when, however, is more complicated.
Did you hear a distinctive call coming from the western skies on Wednesday? Chu, the iconic musical will be broken up into two films, with the first will be released on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, the day before Thanksgiving. Starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, the film’s trailer already has the internet buzzing and while the musical’s legions of fans will undoubtedly show up to see the film in theaters, you might already be wondering when you will be able to stream Erivo’s “Defying Gravity” on repeat at home. George Miller has revealed that Anya Taylor-Joy will have more to do than say in the upcoming Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. The prequel film set 15 to 20 years before Mad Max: Fury Road is slated to feature Taylor-Joy as the younger version of the iconic character played by Charlize Theron in the 2015 film.
Despite many fans wondering how The Witch actress can do justice to the iconic character, a new update suggests that the upcoming feature may be an incredible addition to the Mad Max franchise.
Anya Taylor-Joy in a still from Furiosa
According to the Mad Max filmmaker George Miller, the leading actress has only about 30 lines to say in the upcoming film, even less than what Tom Hardy spoke in his 2015 film. Although such a decision made by any other director could have enraged the fans, Miller’s statement suggests that this can make the upcoming prequel better.

Five years after its finale, Game of Thrones is still considered the most groundbreaking fantasy series of our time, and only another brainchild of HBO, a series based on the Harry Potter universe, can compete with GoT for this title, but it is still in the early stages of development.
However, if you are tired of waiting for a new show, but want to feel something in the spirit of Hogwarts, then we have a suitable option for you. But a more explicit one.
The Magicians is Harry Potter With All The Adult Things

Judge Juan Merchan issued a warning to former President Donald Trump, saying that he would be arrested if he disrupted or skipped his hush money trial.
On April 15, the day this warning was issued, Trump’s attorney, Todd Blanche, claimed that the former president wanted to be present for trial proceedings. Such proceedings include sidebar conferences during the trial and voir dire, the initial examination of a witness or a juror.
In response, Merchan warned that Trump’s presence may also pose logistical challenges involving the Secret Service.
Judge Merchan warned Trump that if he disrupted the proceedings, he could be imprisoned, and the trial would continue in his absence. The judge also warned the former president that he might face an arrest warrant if he skipped his trial for no reason—a statement given to defendants in New York called the Parker Warning.

A day after federal agents and local police in Los Angeles and Miami raided the homes of Sean “Diddy” Combs, the much-accused hip hip mogul is attacking those claiming he sexually assaulted them and law enforcement.
“This unprecedented ambush — paired with an advanced, coordinated media presence — leads to a premature rush to judgment of Mr. Combs and is nothing more than a witch hunt based on meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits,” said Combs’ defense lawyer Aaron Dyer on Tuesday as whispers swirled about what happened on March 25 and why. “There has been no finding of criminal or civil liability with any of these allegations. Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every single day to clear his name.”

This post contains spoilers for Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver #1.
Who are Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch? Most would say that they are Marvel superheroes, twin members of the Avengers and, sometimes, the X-Men. And while those answers aren’t wrong, the truth has always been a bit more complicated when it comes to these two. And the new series Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver #1 — by writer Steve Orlando, artist Lorenzo Tammetta, colorist Frank William, and letterer Ariana Maher — only makes it more complicated.
Since their first appearance in 1964’s X-Men #4, the twins have gone from heroes to villains and back again. Moreover, their parentage has changed time and again, going from the kids of Romani villagers Django and Marya Maximoff to the children of Golden Age heroes Miss America and the Whizzer. In the most popular and most long-running explanation, Magneto has been presented as the true father of Pietro and Wanda.

When we sit and watch the first episode of an original anime, we truly don’t know what we’re getting ourselves into. There’s no manga to turn to, which creates an opportunity for us to formulate our own theories of what we think will happen next. As of today, October 13, 2023, Microsoft has officially completed its nearly $70 billion acquisition of publisher Activision Blizzard. Though the two sides reportedly agreed to an acquisition way back in January 2022, the deal has been modified, scrutinized, and debated by a number of regulatory bodies (not to mention other gamers) since then. Following an exhaustive process that required the Microsoft team to make quite a few concessions, the deal is finally complete.
There is so much to say about this deal, and we hope to be able to share much of that information with you in the coming days and weeks. However, you’re not alone if the first question that popped into your mind is “What games and franchises do Microsoft and Xbox now control as part of the Activision Blizzard deal?

This Star Wars: Ahsoka article contains spoilers.
Throughout this season of Ahsoka, the planet Peridea and the galaxy it lies in have maintained an intriguing air of mystery. When the Eye of Sion and its crew finally arrive in episode 6 “Far, Far, Away,” it’s revealed that the planet was once the ancient home of the Nightsisters – witchy Force-wielders that Lady Morgan Elsbeth descends from. Baylan Skoll also mentions the childrens stories of Peridea that he grew up hearing in the Jedi Temple to his apprentice Shin Hati before he leaves her in search of a greater power on the planet.
What this greater power is isn’t fully revealed until the final moments of the Ahsoka season finale “The Jedi, The Witch, and The Warlord,” when we see Baylan standing on the stone hand of a massive sculpture, suggesting that the Nightsisters weren’t the only Force-wielders that called...

This article contains spoilers for the "Ahsoka" season 1 finale, "The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord."
George Lucas has been making changes to the original theatrical releases of the "Star Wars" movies since day one. "A famous filmmaker once said that films are never completed, they are only abandoned," Lucas said in an interview from a January 1997 issue of Starlog. "So rather than live with my 'abandoned' movies, I decided to go back and complete them."
For the original "Star Wars," before it was given the title of "A New Hope," there really is no original theatrical edition, as it was a different film depending on how you saw it. If you caught it in mono as opposed to stereo, there were different quirks to the dialogue (and even some actors). For "The Empire Strikes Back", the ending shots of the Rebellion's fleet were added weeks after the initial release.

The Ahsoka finale, “The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord,” invites many questions. What exactly is the deal with the zombie Night Troopers? Why would a witch need a sword? What has been motivating ex-Jedi Baylan Skoll? Why does Grand Admiral Thrawn look so much like Elon Musk, when actor Lars Mikkelsen in real life does not resemble the owner of the social media network formerly known as Twitter?
Most importantly, though, is this: Exactly...

The Wolfen episode of The Black Sheep was Written and Narrated by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Brandon Nally, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
A black sheep doesn’t have to be considered bad to have that loving title and distinction. I mean, some of them are considered quite bad and need the layers peeled down to show off the good inside. There are other cases though. A movie can also be a black sheep if it was buried by a more popular outing like The Last Broadcast being utterly forgotten after the behemoth The Blair Witch Project made its appearance. Sometimes, like Last Broadcast, it can just be buried withing its own genre, decade, year, or as in today’s title, all 3. I’ve seen more than a few comments for this one so let’s take a look at werewolves in 1981. No,...

It’s been a minute since Yellowstone fans got a fix of the Paramount Network drama. And it’s going to be a long minute more before the series returns for the back half of its fifth and final season. In the meantime, Paramount+ will endeavor to satisfy our craving with the latest addition to Taylor Sheridan’s slate of programming, Lawmen: Bass Reeves, a sort of extension of Yellowstone prequel 1883. On Thursday, the streamer not only pulled the trigger on a shoot-’em-up of a trailer for the wild Western but announced that it would premiere on Sunday, Nov.

Back in 1999, directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez brought the world The Blair Witch Project (watch it Here), a low budget film that was a massive box office hit, leading to a poorly received sequel that was released the following year and a sequel that most movie-goers ignored when it was released in 2016. Sánchez is currently doing the press rounds for the horror anthology Satanic Hispanics, which he contributed to and is set to reach theatres on September 14th. While doing his part to build the hype for that movie, Sánchez sat down for an interview with the Cult FM podcast, and during that conversation he not only talked about the unmade Blair Witch prequels that he and Myrick had in mind, but also said that – as far as he knows – there are no new Blair Witch projects in the works at Lionsgate.

Elizabeth Olsen has been a significant part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since her debut as Scarlet Witch. But when the character was handed over to the Russo Brothers, Olsen felt they weren’t sure how to approach the Avengers member.
Elizabeth Olsen felt the Russo Brothers had no idea what to do with her Marvel character Elizabeth Olsen | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Controversial filmmaker Joss Whedon gave the movie-going audience a proper introduction to Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. She first made a cameo appearance at the end of Captain America Winter Soldier. Afterwards, Olsen was one of the main leads in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and continued the character’s growth throughout the franchise.
Whedon wouldn’t be involved with the character for long, however. After Age of Ultron, the Russo Brothers were in charge of guiding the MCU through the latter stages of its story. But when the directors...

The 7×45 minute series tells the story of Ester Sand, the one person you think will live forever, who finds out she has cervical cancer on her 40th birthday. But after the initial shock, it’s Ester who comforts the people in her life and she has no intention of leaving the world just yet. “ ‘Afterglow’ is a story of love and life and all of the glorious and silly things we do before we die,” the broadcaster said. “Afterglow” stars Nina Ellen Odegaard (“Possession”), Torbjorn Harr (“Vikings”), Sara Khorami (“Witch Hunt”) and Hermann Sabado (“Home for Christmas”). It was created by Kjetil Indregard and Atle Knudsen, who also acts as director. Marvel is obviously dominating the pop culture landscape, for better or worse. Movies like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever rule at the box office, while shows such as She-Hulk: Attorney at Law motivate audiences to log into their Disney+ accounts. It’s not hard to see the grip Marvel has on entertainment at the moment. The one medium that Marvel can’t seem to crack, however, is video games. Sure we got some great games like Sony’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales, but good lord we’ve also got clunkers like The Avengers and the underperforming Guardians of the Galaxy (which is actually very good). The output is all over the place and aside from Spider-Man, nothing has really gripped audiences like Marvel’s movies have for many years now. Unfortunately their latest game Marvel’s Midnight Suns – made by the tactical masterminds at...

Reel Horror are currently running a Indiegogo crowdfunder campaign to raise funds for their first short film Witch Trial and has so far announced that Ayvianna Snow (News Here) will be joining the film in the lead role of Isobel Gowdie.
Witch Trial is based on a real story that took place in a really fascinating period of history so the aim is to have as much accuracy as possible with the military uniforms and aesthetic. Simon has a successful YouTube channel dedicated to military history and uses living history to give his audience an authentic experience of stepping back in time. His attention to detail is exceptional and he is often sought out to visit museums to advise.

Zeynep Atakan, the producer of Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Palme d’Or winner “Winter Sleep,” has come on board to co-produce and handle international sales for “Hilal, Feza and Other Planets,” director Kutluğ Ataman’s follow-up to his 2014 Berlin Film Festival player, “The Lamb.”
The film begins soon after Turkey’s September 1997 coup, when Hilal and Fatma leave their Muslim town near the Turkish capital, Ankara, to study at the state university in Istanbul. A new law bars Fatma from entering the campus if she wears her religious head scarf. Meanwhile, their downstairs neighbor, Feza, has fled her own village where she was cruelly bullied for being a transgender woman. Hilal chooses to help Feza and Fatma, and against all odds, they’re brought together in the struggle for their rights.

Hello, everyone! Last Friday, we kicked off Indie Horror Month with a tribute to all the great independent genre movies that came out during the 1970s (you can read that article Here), and before we move on to celebrating all the great indie horror from the following decade, I thought it was worth taking some time to tip our hats to several more movies from the ’70s that fans should definitely take some time to check out if they haven’t done so already. And because I always want to try and be as helpful as possible, I’ve also included info on where you can currently stream these films in case you’re looking to fill in some horror history gaps for yourself.
And in case you missed it, we also recapped where a bunch of essential indie horror movies from the 1970s are streaming (you can check out that list Here).

During a day that saw no less than Dolly Parton make her SXSW debut, the hottest ticket was arguably for Wet Leg, the Isle of Wight duo whose charmingly post-punk songs have made their upcoming album one of the most anticipated of the year. The line to see the band at Mohawk stretched all the way down Red River, but to those who made it past the door, the euphoric gig was worth the wait.

On the outskirts of downtown Los Angeles, inside a hulking, graffiti-bedecked industrial building, a distinct lilting reverberates through sterile halls. Behind one of the many nondescript doors is Witch. An acronym for “We Intend to Cause Havoc,” the 1970s psychedelic rock band from Zambia, which helped establish the genre known as Zamrock, is rehearsing for its first U.S. tour since the pandemic began. More than that, Witch are looking to recommence a remarkable story of resilience and resurrection.

When it comes to a period drama, director Robert Eggers is all about perfection — at least according to “The Northman” star Alexander Skarsgård.
Eggers’ upcoming Viking epic is reportedly of such a large scale that the co-writer and director had to change his prep process multiple times during production. Now, Skarsgård has told Interview Magazine in a discussion with Kirsten Dunst that “The Northman” even tested his own limits while working with Eggers.
“He absolutely is [a perfectionist]. But he’s also a genius,” Skarsgård said. “‘The Northman’ was the first time I worked on something that was so meticulously stylized, and you almost had to see it as a dance between the camera and the actors, because the camera was constantly moving, and so were we. If the timing was slightly off, then we’d have to go again. I’ve never been more tired than after those six months.

One of the more baffling news reports this week is that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will not be requiring Covid-19 vaccinations for attendees of the 2022 Oscars. And on Thursday night during his opening monologue, Jimmy Kimmel joked that it’s time to “wildly speculate” about who precisely the Academy is catering to.
“Let the witch hunt begin,” he joked.
So, in case you’re catching up, supposedly, despite having a vaccine mandate for all employees, the Academy has ditched a vaccine mandate — apparently because some of the nominees in major awards categories are not vaccinated. Despite the still-ongoing pandemic and a national death toll of over 900,000, the Oscars apparently also won’t require masks. It will require a negative Covid-19 test, however.
Before we go further, the Academy hasn’t actually announced its Covid policy yet, and it didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment from TheWrap.

It’s been two years since Robert Eggers’ last utterly singular movie: “The Lighthouse.” Now, come April 2022, Focus Features will release “The Northman,” Eggers’ violent Viking epic starring Alexander Skarsgard, Nicole Kidman, Ethan Hawke, and Anya Taylor-Joy. Willem Dafoe and Björk (playing a character called Seeress) round out the cast. At last, Focus has revealed the first trailer for the saga. Watch it below before the movie opens in theaters April 22.
Focus’ official description calls the film “an epic revenge thriller that explores how far a Viking prince will go to seek justice for his murdered father.” Principle photography began in Northern Ireland in March 2020 and was halted almost immediately on account of the Covid-19 pandemic. Production resumed that August.
Eggers cowrote the script with Icelandic poet and novelist Sjón. And beyond his “Witch” star Taylor-Joy, “Witch” actor Ralph Ineson, and “Lighthouse” star Dafoe, he’s reteaming with cinematographer Jarin Blaschke and editor Louise Ford.
