These chronicles offer a bit of a mix bag.

This game came from the game studio Level 5. A studio that in the past has made some really good role playing games such as the very good "Dragon Quest 8" and the rather good space adventure "Rouge Galaxy". They also made the very popular "Professor Layton" series of games. So as you can see, this company has been behind some rather good games. To bad about this game that most critics disliked it and I have to say I agree with them. I thought the game was okay in parts and there was potential for this one to be a really good game, but it just has the feel of a game that needed a lot more development. The story has its ups and downs as the game is about a boy named Leonard who works in a bar of sorts and must one day go to a small village to pick up an order of wine for the castle ball that is to be held for Princess Cisna. Well there is also an avatar character that you create that kind of tags along and is the only character that I know of that can go on quest missions which is one of the major flaws in the game. Either be a single player role playing game or be an online one, do not try to be both. I have a ton of quests that are not really doable for me because of this. Then again if I got much stronger nothing in the game would have posed much of a challenge for me. Anyway the party is of course crashed by this organization called the Magi, who promptly kill the king and make out with the princess, but not before Leonard gains the power of a super fighting weapon known as a Knight. His happens to be white, and there you have the title of the game. You join up with the mysterious stranger Eldore and go on a rescue mission to save the princess. Along the way you are also joined by the strange beauty Kara and Ceaser, an ally who proved to be very useful. Lots of plot twists and such as to be expected and a bit to much "Oh, we have the princess now" only to see her recaptured by the bad guys. Then the game ends without full resolution and so a sequel must be planned, and as I have said in other reviews never plan on a sequel and leave on a cliffhanger as you just do not know if you are going to be able to make that game. "Haven: Call of the King" comes to mind as a game that ended with on conclusion and the sequel never came into being. The "Xenosaga" series also did this, and while they made three games the last one was rushed and the series cut off three games short from the original plans of a six part super series that was supposed to have spanned all the way to the PS3. I did like the cut scene at the end that showed a leader talking to his followers and the game pulling away. The story was overall rather good, a bit better than "Final Fantasy XII", however that game actually ended so that one gets big points for doing that. I only mention that game because this one's battle system was very similar to that one as was the makeup of the towns. Towns that are to large and expansive with way to many inhabitants to interact with. A minor complaint I had of Final Fantasy XIII was the lack of towns, however if the towns are going to be like the ones here then I prefer no towns. Like I said the battle system is nearly identical too, except you have less control of other characters, but it makes very little difference as you slice and dice your way through most of the enemies with ease, and if you have any trouble you just become the White Knight and slaughter them. The graphics in the game look rough in places and rather good in places, but for the most part look more for the PS2 rather than the PS3. The music is forgettable, not bad, but nothing that is going to stick with you. In the end, I think they had something, but it looks to me like it was rushed to the finish line to try and get an exclusive role playing game for the PS3. They most likely though shot themselves in the foot though as this game is just to poor in areas and was not well received so most likely this game is going to be the one game with no resolution.
