You may know Ryan Merriman, even if you aren't familiar with the name, from a large body of work when he was a child actor. A staple of the Young Artist Awards from the mid-90s through 2003 for such things as The Pretender, Taken, The Deep End of the Ocean, and more, Ryan is getting more and more ScreenTime in recent years, and may well be one to watch. Recently coming to you in an episode of Smallville, The Ring Two, and Final Destination 3, Ryan teams up now with Party of Five's Lacey Chabert for The Hallmark Channel's Elevator Girl. He's also coming up in quite a few interesting things: The 5th Quarter with Andie MacDowell and Aidan Quinn, The Hard Ride, a western with Val Kilmer and Elisabeth Shue, just to name a couple scheduled to come out this year.

I spent my Valentine's Eve watching a Hallmark movie called Elevator Girl, which is, well, better than spending Valentine's Day watching a Hallmark movie called Elevator Girl. It was no Lifetime Original Movie — nor could it hold a candle to most of the ABC Family oeuvre, especially those in the epic Bring It On and Cutting Edge franchises. But it was the kind of vaguely engaging diversion that's great to pay your bills to. (I know, I'm a romantic.) The setup was classic TV movie: a free-spirited receptionist/waitress who never quite finished culinary school — named, quite pointedly, Liberty (Lacey Chabert...

For those of you that are frequent readers of this column I’m sure you will notice a certain trend that occurs around these parts: I don’t really tend to review things when they are happening. When it comes to television, because I have a regular job and life, I tend to play catch-up most of the time with the shows that are out there. This can either be because they are new shows that I haven’t opened up my schedule for or old shows that I used to watch all the time and couldn’t fit into my DVR schedule.
One show this season has fallen victim to the latter condition and that show is Smallville. I’ve watched this show since the beginning, I’ve stuck with it through the good, the bad, and the awkward. I’ve tolerated silly and at times confusing story lines...

The Hallmark Channel will launch the network in High Definition on Feb. 1, 2010. I know what you're thinking: Golden Girls is going to look awesome! But after examining the channel's upcoming original film debuts, I realize this move was, in fact, necessary. Not so much for Feb. 13's Elevator Girl starring Mean Girls' Lacey Chabert and Final Destination 3's Ryan Merriman ("a stuck elevator brings a free-spirited woman and an uptight lawyer together"), but for March 6's Uncorked, a romantic comedy starring Dexter's Julie Benz and Men in Trees' Scott Elrod (pictured, right), and March 20's Healing...
