Before Cameron Diaz was “Back in Action,” the actress got her start transporting drugs across international borders. And no, this is not the plot of her next action film.
Diaz revealed during the “Second Life” podcast (via Yahoo! Entertainment) that she “didn’t work a day” as a model in Paris but, rather, found an alternative profession.
“I was there a full year, and I didn’t work one day. I couldn’t book a job to save my life,” Diaz explained. “I got like one job, but really I think I was like a mule carrying drugs to Morocco — I swear to God.”
The “Knight and Day” and “Charlie’s Angels” action star continued, “It was before Tsa or anything like that. It was like early ’90s. They gave me a suitcase that was locked that had my ‘costumes’ in it — quote, unquote.”

Cameron Diaz is stepping back into the world of acting.
The onetime Charlies Angels star, who stepped back from Hollywood in 2014, will star in the forthcoming action-comedy Back in Action.
Talk about an appropriate title, huh?
The flick is in the works at Netflix, and it will reunite her with her Any Given Sunday and Annie co-star, Jamie Foxx.
Foxx broke the news of Cameron's big return, sharing a conversation between the pair in which Diaz struggled to find the right words to reveal her comeback.
"I don’t know how to do this, you know?” she says in the clip, featuring someone who retired from a profession only to take on another job.
Yes, we're talking about Tom Brady, you guys!
“I was talking to Jamie, and he said you needed a few tips on how to un-retire,” Brady says, adding, “I’m relatively successful at un-retiring.”

Nancy Meyers has not retired after all. On Tuesday, Netflix announced the Oscar-nominated writer and director will make a new ensemble comedy for the streaming platform. The untitled project will be Meyers’ first feature film since 2015’s “The Intern” with Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.
Best known for a string of adult-oriented comedies – including “Something’s Gotta Give” with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, “The Holiday” with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz, and “It’s Complicated” with Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, and Alec Baldwin – Meyers has been open about the difficulty she faced in trying to mount projects as Hollywood studios focused on established intellectual property.
“I felt between ‘It’s Complicated’ in 2009 and ‘The Intern’ in 2015, the business took a huge turn,” Meyers told Vulture in 2020. “The kind of movies I was making—I don’t know what they’re called. Some of them are romantic comedies; some of them are comedies.

The streamer announced the new film in a tweet on April 5, writing, "Over the last 40 years, Nancy Meyers has blessed movie lovers with iconic characters, quotes, and kitchens." So far there are no details on the plot, cast, or release date, but according to Deadline, it will be an ensemble comedy.

In our time of need, Nancy Meyers has returned! The filmmaker behind some of the most comforting movies of all time has struck a deal with Netflix to write, direct and produce a new film for the streamer. Deadline has described the film as an ensemble comedy but otherwise, no information has been revealed in terms of casting, plot, or even a title. But of course, none of that matters because Meyers' name is more than enough to spark excitement! Without Nancy Meyers, the would be no "The Holiday," and without that movie's existence, the video of Jude Law saying "I am...

Nancy Meyers is bringing her filmmaking talents (and her immaculate kitchens) to Netflix, where she’ll write, direct and produce a new feature film.
News of the partnership comes after Meyers and Netflix teamed to release the short film “Father of the Bride Part 3 (ish),” which debuted on the streamer’s social channels in 2020. The special project brought together the cast of “Father of the Bride” and “Father of the Bride Part II” — Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Kieran Culkin, George Newbern and Martin Short — for the first time in 25 years, with Robert De Niro, Florence Pugh, Alexandra Shipp and Ben Platt added to the mix. Meyers wrote and directed the Banks family reunion clip (produced by Reese Witherspoon), which benefitted World Central Kitchen.
Details about the new film are scarce, though the project is described as an ensemble comedy, a formula which Meyers has mastered over her career.
