Poor, like.. genuinely poor.
traffordbage9 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
No improvement from the last episode here.

Why did that woman backup against a tree and NOT MOVE just so she could be saved. You dont survive 4+ years into the apocalypse by waiting to be saved.

Im SICK of dwight and sherry constantly arguing and making up. Its like an episode of family guy. Even dwight was self aware shouting "we've been through this".

But, writers, making stupid decisions and then writing the characters to be aware of them isn't good storytelling. Why did they have this argument? Ah, so morgan had a way out.

Morgan also famously doesn't leave people behind and cares tremendously for those he loves. Why exactly is he so okay with leaving?

Why is 90% of this episode two characters talking to eachother with cheesy hopeful music?

Why did western music play when WES of all people turned up?

Why did they kill howard last episode (oh thats right, so wes got more screentime so he could die later aswell), and no doubt to cause drama when aleisha infiltrates the tower.

Its beyond predictable, its beyond boring and nonsensical. Why are all of strands rangers so weak? They just shoot each other? But strand only let strong and helpful people into the tower!?

If you love the show still I know this probably annoys you - but we're on the same side. I just want a good story from good characters. Daniel was in this episode. Did he speak? No. Did he have a scene where he reacted? No.

If Aleisha dies before madison arrives (repeating the ofelia story), I will hate this show. At the moment its just a solid Meh. 5 is generous.

New writers for S8, please. Dont do the same to madison.

Good but flawed

This is a good episode. I am actually happy Alicia is finally taking the spotlight again. So many boring scenes but some made me smile. Enough to make me give this a solid 7.

Slightly better.. I guess?

Warning: Spoilers
Season 7 has been probably the worst (and dumbest) season of Fear, followed closely by Season 5. The stupidity continues in this episode (Strand's rangers can't shoot two non-moving targets? A woman that has supposedly survived so long in the apocalypse can't fight off 4 walkers? Morgan acting out of character and abandoning his group? Radiation sometimes matters sometimes not? Yep). Please bring in new writers for Season 8, I'm lowkey losing braincells everytime I watch this show. Only reason I rate it a 6 is because it created a decent buildup for Season 8 (who got the walkers out of the crater? Is it related to Madison??). Also it seems like they're gonna abandon the stupid anthology format in the next episode, which I'm really looking forward to.

Best Episode this season (Still Bad Though)
matp-476009 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It feels so good to be back with Dwighty Boy. He is the most underrated character in this show. Hands down. The writers did him SOME justice in seasons 5+6 but I hate that we have barely seen him this season, its such a waste of a great character. He has been a sweet-heart since he came to Fear which is nice to see but Im glad the writers remembered he can also be a badass too (he was Negan's top soldier after all) which they showed in this episode. I was overall quite happy about how they portrayed Dwight this episode, especially given how the writers have been ruining a lot of the characters this season (Daniel, Strand, John Sr., Charlie, to name a few).

Which brings me to Sherry. Add her to the list. She was such a retard in this episode it was almost unbearable. Why the hell does she tell Dwight to run away like he is some child she needs protection? He has been through way more and killed more people than her? He had his damn face burned off, so I dont think much would phase him after that, or have the writers forgotten that too? And Sherry tries to tell him to leave and abandon her when she knows she is pregnant? What the hell is wrong with her? Why are the writers trying to make us hate the main characters so much??

Other problems with this episode:
  • There was a shot of a dead rotting horse in one scene and it just looked AWFUL. Not disgusting, or gory, but unrealistic and soooo obviously fake.

  • How the hell did the zombie horde catch up to Morgan that easily?? Some explaining would be good here seeing as it makes ZERO SENSE you idiots
  • In one scene Dwight and Wes are fighting on the ground after Dwight killed two rangers but then the scene cuts away and we dont even get to see it, which could have actually been an interesting scene. But of course these writers are too stupid to realise that.

At least next episode (14) looks like it could be a banger and for the first time since the terrible episode 9 I'm actually excited for Fear to come back.

It is okay

Warning: Spoilers
At first i was annoyed by the never ending problems dwight and cherry have after they have met eachother. But then it becomes clear why, i hope they wont be having arguments anymore in the future because it is repeating everytime we see them. I wish they would give them a better relationship with eachother. The story has not progressed alot after this episode but at least it was great character development between dwight and cherry. I personally stand at will's side on this one because morgan and his friends are in the wrong here. But i find it stupid why they dont kill eachother after they shoot eachother.

Overall a good episode.

Some stuff happens which threatens to drown out the constant crying of Mo. Threatens. But fails. Please make it stop. Please. How does it add anything to the story? It can't and doesn't.

S7.E13 - Pretty Good Episode [7.8/10]
panagiotis199314 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S7. E13) My Reaction / Review for Fear The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 13 ''The Raft'': Episode 12 was ok and I gave it a rating of 7/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. So is Wes now a villain? Working for Victor, because he wants to ''survive'', disgusting. Nice to see Alicia again. What about the radiation? The characters don't wear masks most of the time. I really hope that Wes will be the next character to die. Sherry and Dwight are trapped inside the tunnel? That sucks. So they are going to fight Victor soon and Morgan is leaving with Mo? Come on! Finally a good episode. I think the imdb rating (5.9/10) is a bit unfair. My rating is 7.8/10.

Prepare For The Attack!
ZegMaarJus12 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This Episode begins with Sherry, she left Dwight without letting him know. Sherry and Dwight saved Maya just in time. A really big group of walkers are coming Morgan his way. Morgan, Sherry and Dwight got themself in a gunfight. Wes wants Baby Mo from Sherry and Dwight. Dwight fights with Wes, Sherry runs away with Mo. Sherry thinks that she is pregnant. Two of Victor his rangers got killed by walkers. Alicia and Morgan have a emotional conversation with each other. Morgan and Mo leave on the boat, they go to a safe place. Solid Episode of Fear the Walking Dead Season 7, this was okay. The level of this Season is just not what it was like last Season. Hopefully we will get three good Episodes now!

Squabbling couples
Rob-O-Cop10 May 2022
Already surpassing the worst of the spiraling series, the nonsense continues to be delivered as if it has meaning and depth, but it makes no sense at all. It's like it was created by a random script generator.

Never before have a collection of likable actors crafting strong characters that walk through plot details that mean absolutely nothing.

It just keeps coming, turns and dives that lead nowhere, I've never seen such a promising premise with talented cast deliver such lackluster dull confusing and ultimately pointless content.

"The Raft" is a solid episode that adds depth to the characters of Sarah and Dwight while delivering a tense and engaging storyline
fernandoschiavi2 May 2024
Dwight and Sherry rescue a woman named Maya from walkers and Dwight sends her to the Tower despite the escalating war with Strand; Sherry expresses fears that Dwight will take Strand's deal to protect her and become the man he used to be while serving Negan. Having escaped with Mo, Morgan lures Strand's walker moat away, leaving the Tower vulnerable until nightfall. Morgan is joined by Alicia, who admits to being afraid that she won't be able to kill Strand when the time comes. Leading the herd to the crater, the two find it to be almost empty, as someone lowered a ramp into it so the radioactive walkers could escape.

Dwight and Sherry are chased by Wes and several of Strand's Rangers in search of Mo. The two escape to the bunker, using it to contain the herd while they escape through the drainage pipes. Trapped by a ceiling collapse, Sherry reveals she is pregnant before using Alicia's recovered melee weapon to dig their way out, reuniting them with Morgan and Alicia. With the Pennsylvania having to be abandoned due to a radiation leak, Alicia prepares to lead everyone in an attack against the Tower, while Morgan departs with Mo on the sub's emergency life raft to find a safer home for her.

In the thirteenth episode of Fear the Walking Dead's seventh season, titled "The Raft," the narrative shifts focus to a smaller, more intimate storyline centered around Sarah and Dwight. The episode opens with Sarah and Dwight encountering a group of survivors who have been living on a raft, isolated from the dangers of the mainland. However, tensions arise when the leader of the group, Marcus, reveals his true intentions and threatens Sarah and Dwight's safety.

One of the standout scenes in the episode is when Sarah and Dwight confront Marcus, leading to a tense standoff that tests their resolve and highlights the complexities of trust in a post-apocalyptic world. This scene is not only gripping but also serves as a catalyst for Sarah and Dwight's character development, as they are forced to confront their own beliefs and motivations.

Thematically, "The Raft" explores the concept of community and the lengths people will go to protect their own. The episode also touches on themes of redemption and forgiveness, as Sarah and Dwight grapple with their past actions and strive to find a sense of purpose in a world that has been torn apart by the undead.

Overall, "The Raft" is a solid episode that adds depth to the characters of Sarah and Dwight while delivering a tense and engaging storyline. While it may not have the scale or scope of some of the series' larger episodes, it succeeds in delivering a compelling narrative that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. With strong performances from the cast and a well-paced storyline, "The Raft" is a standout episode in Fear the Walking Dead's seventh season.

Finally putting them out of their misery
rmmil9 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Being a cast or crew member on this season of Fear (or the last 3) can't have been fun. Thankfully the ending looks to be near.

The Fear writers think their audience is really dumb, as setups come and go telegraphed a mile away.

Standard now for Fear, a character completely changes their motivation mid-episode, with Lenny James suddenly says "Peace out!" To the Fear cast.

That's right. In this episode we get to witness Mr "leave no man behind" Morgan totally leave behind every single person he's grown to know and love, over a baby that for some reason has completely taken over the plot of season 7. Yes, babies are important, but at the cost of everyone else you care about? Okay Fear writers.

My season 6 prediction stands: Alicia is going to sacrifice herself to kill Strand, and most of this current cast will go with her. Good on them, too.

But Morgan isn't gone forever! No way would these show runners leave behind their golden child! So season 7 is going to end with Morgan drifting with baby at sea (mushroom cloud in the distance, the end of Strand), only to find...Madison I'm assuming?

She'll be "in" season 7 all of 5 minutes or less. Count on it.

Admittedly, I'm hate watching.
mhorg201818 May 2022
I barely liked this show, which has gone up and down and up and down worse than any roller-coaster ever created since day one. They've taken some really broad roads. Morgan meeting Dwight was bad enough, but he found wimpy Shelly who's now some kind of super warrior? That's some terrible writing. Then we get this "I'm still hunting a serial killer/cult leader" after the end of civilization and this nut wants to launch nuclear weapons. Well, obviously the assistants to the writers are writing this trash. Just as obviously, none of them have cracked open a science book because none of them have even come close to the true dangers of fallout and radiation. I've stuck with this, but I barely pay attention to the episodes anymore, they've gotten so bad.

Entertaining but flawed, also can we fast forward to Madison? (7x13)
Sam_Ash_769 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Fear Season 7 continues that track record of making entertaining episodes on your first watch but stories that easily fall apart if you give them even the slightest bit of thought. A pregnancy test that somehow survived a week in a radioactive Apocalypse? Sure, why not. Air that sometimes okay to breathe in some areas in the radioactive landscape so that characters can talk without the audio being muffled? I guess. A character that by all means two episodes ago was a good person but now has turned into one of the series biggest psychopaths? Okay?

Look, I'm not going to sugar coat it. Fear Season 7 is a train wreck in storytelling if you actually think about the story being presented. In the span of 13 episodes we've had maybe 4 (?) episodes that have moved the actual season arc forward. This isn't to say that the entire season is poor, I've actually enjoyed watching a solid amount of it in a cheesy '80s horror flick kind of way. I think Season 6's anthology style worked mostly to flesh out these characters individually, to make the viewers invested in them BEFORE they reunited to fight a bigger evil. But that story now feels tiresome and just a way to cut salary costs.

At this point I think I speak for a lot of the fan base of this series, can we just get to Madison already? The original three seasons of this show had a unique flair to them that separated them from the main series. A visual style that felt unique and original. Characters that you didn't just 'like', but the stories of which you were invested in. From Season 4 onwards I've mostly watched the series because I LIKE the characters, not the stories in which they inhabit. I can't even remember half of the story of the fifth season besides some stupid stuff about a plane? Compare that to season three which I've re watched on multiple occasions and can describe the plot of in detail. Fear used to be memorable television, now its just something you chuck on in the background for dumb entertainment.

I realize that very little of this review is about 'The Raft' as an episode, and thats mainly because I have very little to say about it. Like most Season 7 installments, I enjoy it while I watch but feel a deep sadness that I'm not getting the story continuation Erickson planned past season 3. The show's become so ludicrous at this point that if you grabbed Nick Clark's corpse and dumped it in a lazarus pit just to bring him back, it wouldn't even be the dumbest thing the stories done this season.

4/10.

Warning: Spoilers
Micky! She joined the black raiders, only to never help them.. On the other hand Im glad because the wrestling episode is one of the worst! Writing is trash again. Wes 180° into literal super villain is out of character, unfitting, stupid and just a nightmare to watch. Also Sherry and Dwight arguing ALL THE TIME ABOUT THE SAME STUFF SINCE THEIR REUNION is just tiresome! Dont get me started on the plot progression because Morgan just leaves before the big fight starts. The cover on amazon prime is literally Morgan and Strand screaming at each other. Now Morgan pretty much wont be there for the rest of the season I imagine... Aside that the episode is 95% very uninteresting dialogue and 5% zombies which dont do a lot..

How can they keep putting this crap out? Morgan gives his daughter to two proven losers, (I understand: he's sucks at decision making worse than Rick), and gets lucky to get her back at the end. She will wish she was dead before these idiots figure out a way to leave crap hole Arizona. Why are you stupid people staying in a fallout zone? GGHAAAHHH! I'm done!

Enough with Dwight and Sherry arguing all the damn time. This whole episode was a massive snooze fest and the only reason I'm still watching is to see Madison return, hopefully it's worth the wait because all this build up ain't even build up because we've had no clue of her whereabouts.

Dwight saves another poor episode
braedynh9 May 2022
Dwight was the only redeeming part of this episode. Loved seeing some personality with him (e.g. The dad joke) but also not forgetting that he has a dark side to him. Brilliant character that I miss on the main show. Praying for an adequate end to this season.

I really wish I could erase the whole season seven. Actually everything after they dealt with Virginia. After that it just went downhill. Even the recapitulation of previous episodes today had that soap opera quality.

A good episode held back by the consistently awful writing.
frankiesilver-9183611 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was another episode focused on Dwight and Sherry, but it thankfully doesn't feel as pointlessly stupid and includes other cast. Nonetheless, Sherry was annoying as usual. It makes more sense by the end, yet it doesn't make it enjoyable.

While it's become a meme at this point that everyone gets pregnant on this show, I don't mind Dwight and Sherry having a kid. The sweet music and bickering over the implications made it cringy, but the episode has much bigger problems.

For one, we have Wes. I don't know what they are going for with this character. They at least try to explain his perspective, but him joining Strand still seems out of character. He also gets a really dumb fight with Dwight, and they don't even explain how D got away.

We see Morgan this episode too, and the fact he unintentionally got the whole horde from the tower to follow him is plain unrealistic.

Meanwhile, Dwight and Sherry getting stuck in the same tunnel in the bunker was absolutely laughable. Having Sherry dig her way out with Alicia's weapon when Alicia couldn't have done the same (or at least used it to kill the Walker before being bit) legit felt like they were trying to screw with Alicia fans even more with an existing plot hole. Its one of the many examples this season of how the writing feels like it is actively trying to insult the viewer's intelligence.

Still, one good thing was getting to see Alicia again. I also like that they focus on her struggling with the idea of having to fight and maybe kill Strand. It shouldn't be as easy for her to attack an old friend as they previously made it seem.

I will say the ending did have some good epic penultimate episode feeling to it. Alicia leading everyone into battle (as she should be) is exciting. I also didn't mind Morgan leaving before the finale since his rivalry with Strand was never fleshed out anyway.

Really morgan
jayjay217183 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Got to say ever since Madison was supposedly dead the show has been all over the place I won't even lie the show was never best at story telling but I used to enjoy seeing the first few seasons. Then it was ok but since the bomb fell I don't think there's anything I like the radiation that burns the skin yet they wear gas mask. And people say they are careful and then the next day it's like there whole body is covered in rashes and they are dying. Strand who is usually calculating. Is killing the wrong people and turning his back on others and then they could of even killed him and ended the war. And then it was obvious sherry was pregnant and they just kept dragging it.

But my problem with this episode is the random girl by herself who left to find a tower on radiation land. Then when she says the bunker has an exit with a unstable tunnel they found that to be an invitation to try to go through it. Then the walkers who have surprisinglywalki by in a line for the longest time. Get in since and all go a sudden are behind all the rangers. Then you have Wes who decides to abandon everybody he joined all because one person made a decision. And then he just abandons the whole team and is against everyone and yet they had two times they could go killed him and continue to let him live and bring rangers to change them. Then you'd we who they gathers to take th tower yeah that was super small and why follow Alicia. Who looks like she's in between death. The biggest thing I hated about this episode is the fact that morgan left. Why are they fighting for the tower then if Morgan is leaving. They want it to get the antenna to use it to get more people to fight for the tower but if they take the tower what is it to just call more people for help I mean how big was this fall out from the bombs is it like no where else in the country where they can travel. Like why are they even still living in this area.

"WE'VE BEEN OVER THIS BEFORE"
lillyredling26 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Dwight screaming those words at Sherri was how I feel about 90% of this season. The same arguments. The same dialogue. The same stupid decisions made by the characters (and writers) over and over and over again.

The radiation is going to kill us all! Oh, wait no it's not. Radiation bombs blew up our camp! Oh, never mind it's fine. Radiation zombies! Oh, no that's no big deal either. Radiation leaking from something! Whatever.

Sherri and Dwight. "Let's go to Strand!" "Let's not go to Strand." "You go to Stand, I'll go with this random person we just met." "Let's both not go." "You go! I'm building a raft for you!" "...should we have a baby?" LOL Sherri tries to leave Dwight every episode they're in together. Girl, just admit you wish he never found you and move on with your life. They fight every two seconds but sure, a baby will fix everything.

They're still passing Morgan's baby around between characters like a hot potato. I don't think the writers know what to do with her when they aren't using her for convenient, lazy suspense. Maybe others feel differently but I can't make myself care about Mo. They basically treat her like a crying backpack for all they interact with her.

Why does anyone even need Strand's tower? No one seems to be lacking for everything. They always have food and weapons and tents and walkies and gas masks and baby food. Is there no other building in the entire city to build a home base? Can they not just go somewhere else? It seemed like Strand built a whole empire overnight. Can they not just go to a new town and do the same?

And finally, so unbelievably sick of the two to four person focused episodes. The pacing is such a drag.

Helmed by Dwight and Sherry, "The Raft" feels more serialized and overall an improvement in quality
Holt34416 May 2022
Gary S. Rake directed this week's episode of Fear TWD. The direction and visual storytelling is quite good, the cinematography and editing were also quite good but too simplistic. The sound editing and musical score is fantastic. The flaws from season 7A are still present, and the writing is extremely flawed. Some of the dialogue and motivations are stupid and very forced, I just don't get why almost all the characters has to be so mysterious and not upfront with things, it continues in every episode and it feels like the showrunners like that kind of writing, well I don't. Andrew Chambliss and Ian B. Goldberg and the staff writers are unfortunately unable to write good dialogue. They come out sounding wooden and unrealistic, then again, dialogue can be hard to write. But these guys are poor at it, Fear deserves better writing overall, like the quality it had in S1-3. The dialogue for Dwight and Sherry was delivered right and written nicely.

Morgan and Alicia plan their next steps. Dwight and Sherry face the prospect of having to choose between their code and their safety. That's the premise of the episode and it gives us much needed screen time for Dwight and Sherry but most importantly gives Morgan and Alicia more screen time. The performances Austin Amelio and Christine Evangelista gave might have been some of the season's best, I've written it in previous reviews, but Dwight is one of my favorite characters and it's so nice to see Austin Amelio still enjoying the character of Dwight. I think Colby Hollman might have delivered his worst performance as Wes, him turning antagonistic is just off, how the showrunners character assassinated the character they created, is beyond me.

"The Raft" was a step forward in terms of quality regarding the previous episodes, it still is far from a good episode but at least bearable to watch, with actors and characters I'm interested in. Sadly it can go from good to bad in a matter of minutes, but when Dwight and Sherry is alone and not when rangers is appearing magically, the episode is actually quite great as the character interactions and drama between them kept me interested and entertained. But I strongly believe the individual stories/episodes don't work like they did in S6 when everyone was apart. As Fear used to be a serialized show and did it perfectly, I can't say the same with Andrew Chambliss and Ian B. Goldberg run. Season 3 is a good example of a storyline being full of depth and serialized drama, and the civil war in this season had the potential, sadly it never hit its potential and now when there's only a few episodes left, the "war" has truly started. This episode actually felt more serialized, with it starting almost immediately after the previous episode. Honestly, I liked this episode more than I first expected I would. I still think the magically appearing Rangers is something that shouldn't happen, that whole "chase" was bad. Instead I would have written it with lots of walkers in and no ammunition, that would have been logic and much more suspenseful. But come on, Strand is trying to settle a rebellion inside his Tower, so why is he sending a lot of Rangers and men to hunt Morgan who took a baby, bad leadership but the writers doesn't like logic as we have learned. Do they have an endless amount of rangers? So many have died off screen and on screen, I don't know anymore, the inhabitants feel really small in the Tower as we haven't seen much of it other than talked about. But to end the review on a positive note, I liked it.
