MOM Series Finale
j_clabaugh16 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
For the time that the writers had left and due to the COVID issues, this was a decent finale. There were several callbacks to earlier seasons, such as when Bonnie chases the new girl in the rain (season 2 when Bonnie fell off the wagon), and there was a nod to season 3 when the girls didn't tell Jill that Adam had cancer so they didn't want to ruin her moment. Although considering how Marjorie felt about that you would think they would have changed it.

Adam's cancer storyline was an interesting subplot and you could tell they were originally counting on a final season 9 to wrap up the series. CBS got lazy and canceled the show because of money, which is BS because all the money in the world is there.

Jill & Andy get married for those that want to see that storyline finish out. It just feels like there was so much left unsaid. The show deserved another 22 episodes to wrap things up!

Canceled too soon
adubuque14 May 2021
I thought this season was great without Anna Faris. I wish they could have gotten longer to prove it. This finale made me cry, but it was very apparent it wasn't meant to be the finale. So many questions left unanswered and that just bugs me. Ive loved this show and will miss it.

You can't end like this!
badmel6514 May 2021
We need more! What happens with Adam??? What happens to Jill and Sgt. Pepper and the baby? Boy, girl, twins, etc.? What about the new members? And can anyone honestly get enough of Kristen Johnston??? She's always been beautiful no matter what size! She's such a character!

I really didn't think the show would be that great w/o Anna Farris but was I ever wrong! I actually think the show got more interesting...no offense. Love her. But the end was so deep...please give us more??? 💔

More Like a Season Finale
Dog-River17 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I like how it went full circle, with the new mother and daughter group members and Bonnies share at the meeting at the end was wonderful. But, this to me felt more like a season finale, rather than a series finale. I personally didn't like how they left a cliffhanger with Adam, I mean I'm going to pretend everything works out for him, but still. I have been with this show from the beginning and I loved every minute of it. But they should've been given an hour long time slot for the series finale and possibly bring back Baxter, Violet and Roscoe atleast for a scene in the episode. Either way, thanks to the cast and crew for giving us this heartwarming and brilliant show for 8 seasons.

Must, Must See

This was a wonderful written final. As the song from the Lion King Goes, Its the Circle of Life. That is the only hint I will give. Again, a beautiful written show, one of the best of the series, and one of the best written series finals I have seen. Just be sure to grab a Kleenex, you will need it.

Mom deserved better
biggreen-9763518 May 2021
Mom deserved a better send off then just the 15 minutes they gave them after the more important commercials.

Good episode with some important characters missing
It was a good episode, two and a half men rose made it more entertaining, jokes were there, emotional elements were there but no Anna farris character. Even though this episode didn't needed her but she, her son, daughter and ex husband were definitely missed. Other than them, chef rudy, bonnie's new therapist...i mean are mom's writers that stupid or lazy that they don't even try to bring these characters to us and just focus on the new lead characters...

Overall mom is a good series, they really sent hope to everyone and may have helped a lot of people but could have made it better by a 1 hour finale with the missing characters.

Should have ended after the previous episode
Vosem15 May 2021
If they weren't going to film a true finale (this was NOT a series finale) then they should have just ended after the penultimate episode. That was more of a finale type episode.

This was a good episode, but still ruins the entire experience of Mom.

This was a horrible decision. So sick of TV shows that end unresolved.

The series ended, the characters continued
cyclingsun26 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It took two well-spaced viewings to appreciate the final episode. The series' loose ends were tied up in the penultimate episode; the ending just continued the pattern of the braid of the characters' lives. As we viewers departed, we knew that the characters were continuing along their paths, made so much brighter & hopeful by their years together.

Was it disappointing to not revisit characters so prominent in the early seasons, plus the one who dominated most of the series? Yes, it was, the first time I saw the final episode. But those characters' appearances would have been a distraction to the simpler epilogue of a beloved group of characters whose stories will continue even after the curtain falls. Their lives go on, full of friendship, love, hope, and laughter.

Disappointed
rod_burley20414 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Definitely not meant to be a series finale, it's evident the show was cancelled, after this episode was recorded. Some unresolved character plots will never have a conclusion. There was plenty of time to record a true conclusion, since it's been months since the series was announced as being cancelled.

Wish that Anna Faris had made some sort of an appearance, to make this a true finale!

Mom
dj-petar9416 May 2021
Seemed rushed and (after previous episode that was probably the best ever) kinda unnecessary. I understand that they wanted the full circle with a new mom and a new daughter but it was so forced and unwatchable. Loved Bonnie's speech though. They should've put the speech at the end of the previous episode and end it there.

What Was That?
electric-crow17 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Well that was unremarkable. They should have combined the last two episodes into an hour long series finale instead of mailing it in like they did.

And oh yeah, whose idea was it to give one of the cast members cancer on the final episode? That certainly wasn't fitting for a finale.

Sad ending to the funniest comedy on broadcast TV.
alexandertom-8603215 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
No spoilers really, but always like to be respectful of fellow viewers. Not horrible but not great either. The writers got lazy and lackluster. Hate to break it to them but that FICA guy joke used in the first season of Friends. Stop.

That's it?! Warning: Spoilers
No closure, whatsoever. Except for Jill getting married. It was mildly entertaining. Except for the little cancer thing. Smh.

This Was The Series Finale?
Bello-414 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I knew season eight would be the last season, it was announced it would be before season eight really even debuted along with the exit of Anna Faris. With Anna Faris exiting I was sure season eight would suffer and I was right, the show revolved around Anna and Allison (I've been quite happily watching episodes from earlier seasons). With Anna's departure Mom became a show that I watched only to see it through to the end as I had been invested since the beginning and had come to care. This particular episode, the series finale you can tell wasn't supposed to be a series finale and it shows. Adam has cancer and yet we'll never know the outcome? Jill and Andy get married and begin preparing for a new baby but we'll never know the outcome? They introduce two new characters who aren't well written at all and I doubt we'd see them more than a few episodes of the show had continued... Maybe they're supposed to be what Bonnie and Christy might've been if they were at a really bad extreme (I don't know)? And once again Wendy is all but ignored by the writers.

You can't argue that no one knew things were coming to a final end with this season, it was reported as such early and with plenty of time to create an actual end even with a retrospective and perhaps featuring a few kind words from Anna Faris if not a quick cameo. Perhaps a time jump so Jill could have her baby? Perhaps an ending involving a young couple who want to get clean and it's Bonnie's and the group's turn to help them and have a better outcome (Jody). But this ending we got, this was utter drivel, this was crap... I missed the episode somehow and so I just bought it on Amazon for a $1.99 and frankly if I could I'd like my $1.99 back.

Uneven & Unfortunate
mike_george7623 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
That goes for the entire season. The show deserved a better send off. The last season had a scrambled feel to it without Anna Faris. Alison Janney seemed to be mailing it in most of the season. The laugh track they used because they didn't have live audiences because of Covid was beyond annoying. As for the last episode, they tacked on two new characters in a desperate attempt at "full circle symbolism" with a new mother/daughter starting the program. The usually charming Melanie Lynskey seemed unsure how to play the role. Jill suddenly decided to get married, they suddenly decided to give Adam cancer and as usual, gave Wendy absolutely no story and no closure and that's a shame, Beth Hall always deserved better than what they gave her in this series. And no matter what, they should have given Anna Faris a blank check to at least make a cameo appearance. For a show called "MOM", it's kind of startling how quickly they discarded both of Christy's children earlier in the series and almost never mentioned them afterward, and how abruptly Anna decided to leave and how her character was all but forgotten by the other characters in the last season. Still a very fun series, but it limped to the finish line.

Absolute crap
Wow what a crappy way to end a good show...should have brought back the missing stars and to end the series with loose ties was stupid...Mom joins the ranks of worst series finales with Dallas, Seinfeld,The Sopranos.... CBS you dropped the ball on this one.

Leave them laughing
isa-alsup9 January 2022
A comedy series should go out with a good laugh. This episode was meh - an injustice to a great series with talented cast and writing. This was seldom a big belly laugh show. It had intelligent, wry humor. Producers and writers tanked the ending. No one in cast or crew deserved such a weak ending. IMO a weak ending defines the series - it's the last impression. Like a dud joke.
