Victory with Tears!
ahmxii3 December 2021
This episode manages to wrap up with our characters all in vastly different places than they were at the start, all while managing to bring action and satisfying resolutions along the way.

The war sequence was how that is expected.

Baba Voss's speech was amazing and the way he did gave it was remarkable.

Works well as either season or series finale.
whiskey_charlie16 October 2021
No spoilers here! It was a good episode, barring a few flaws (which was highlighted by other posters), but what I really liked was that it resolved several story arcs, while making room for new ones. That said, anyone who wishes to stop watching can regard it as the end of the series. I, myself look forward to season 3 but I don't imagine it keeping its momentum beyond that.

Why Paris?
ahmedmohamed-2013517 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It is a fine, sad episode by me, not real tho, but it's fine.

But the ending was dumb!, why Paris? She's so kind to be killed like that!, you should have killed queen Kane instead...

Need season 3, NOW!
tbunker-8829415 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I hope we have a shorter wait for season 3 than we did with this one.

After a long and bumpy road with season 2 with its fair share of underwhelming episodes, they have finally delivered.

This episode alone makes up for the lack of action within this season.

Beautifully executed, lighting was much better

Not sure I understand why Baba left. His purpose in life, of which he gave himself, is to look after and protect his family.

Queen Kane is gonna come back more dangerous than before.

JUSTICE FOR PARIS!!!!

Good and solid ending
elartu-9515 October 2021
A very good ending to this war, hoped it lasted 2 episodes due to the hype of this event but they did a good job, wished there was more gore as the first season tbh.

This ending leaves a lot of material for a new season, a lot... and I hope they work better on the storytelling and don't wrap everything great until the last episodes.

So Good
theknownames24 October 2021
I can never get over how good of an actor Jason Momoa is. It's not easy to be play such diverse roles when your so recognizable . Baba Voss's is impeccable and the cast really elevates the whole series. I appreciate the grit this season and this finale is excellent. This could have ended a whole series or it could stand alone- not that it should. Are there any other Gargoyle fans ? The opening scene and music yeeeeeeee.

Disappearing bodies...

Warning: Spoilers
I really like this show and for the most part it is very particular regarding small(er) details. However this episode was terrible in that way.

Baba and his army basically create a wall of killed soldiers at the entrance with the first few waves of archers' attacks which I was instantly curious how the next wave(s) would navigate and trip over. Since it was a narrow space and there was no path around. However in the next scene theyre GONE (and basically the same happening throughout the whole battle everywhere). Puf! A HUGE tactical advantage that would be a very intresting factor erased due to either lazy writers, ease of shooting the show or very much underestimating their viewers intelligence.

All above?

Also Wren all of a sudden having a family? We have been through that when Haniwa asked her to leave with her and Wren said she cannot because Ido (who adopted her) and the trivantians are her family and has to stay. Now all of a sudden she has a family? What are the writer smoking?

And that murder scene with the queen. AGAIN. Its getting boring and annoying how she keeps doing it but everyone still treats her as a meek fluffy kitten. Every scene with her is annoying and plain silly.

No amount of words i say will justify how good this show is and how amazing this episode was,10/10 for me.

From amazing acting to great story telling and.how deep and meaningful every character is,as you watch this show you will become more attached to the people in it.

The chemistry between haniwa and wren is also making this show even better.

Most awesomest battle scene ever
aneyeaneye15 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There have been some epic battle scenes throughout the years but this tops them. The tension, the gore, the strategy and execution by the Pian army with setting traps. The reigning top battle , (Battle of the Bast-tards) has been dethroned and this episode was everything The Long Night should have been. Granted with every battle there a laughable amount of characters with inexplicable plot armor but overall I wasn't mad.

A very well done episode, but a forced ending
sanandres-2965023 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
During this episode we've been through a lot of emotions, we knew that this was going to be lethal, fight scenes were awesome, and the strategies too, from the side of Baba Voss, but from the Trivantes, I expected a little more, if Edo Voss was a warrior and a strategie, he would know what he could expect. Even so, he was just "go go attack". Also, I understand the relationship between Haniwa and Wren, but you just can't let her kill your people, and let her free like nothing. The kiddo with sight, Haniwa, with one arrow could've stoped him (to the arm or shoulder, not to kill him). At last, the ending, oh my god, it was terrible. First, Baba Voss, where did he go? At least they could've said where. To live in the forest? Second, Paris, please. From all people, they killed Paris, and it doesn't have any sense. Because of all people, Paris would've known that you can't trust the former queen in any moment, Paris was the most perceptive. Anyhow, it was a good episode, but i dont know what is the story that they will tell in the next season (if threre's one). They need a perfect script towards the next season. Otherwise, they'll ruin the show with nonsense scenes.

Dumb writing
werecow200316 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I generally enjoy the series, and it's never bothered me that it is unrealistic, but this is one of the worst defenses of a fortification ever seen on television.

At first, they wait outside the walls for the enemy to start killing them with massive volleys of arrows, for no reason at all. Both sides have two sighted people among them (an absurdly large advantage against an army of blind people), but the good guys make no real use of them. Their leaders keep yelling out to each other, giving away their position each time to "just check whether you're still alive". Smart.

They are inside a walled city, but instead of using that to their advantage, they just do nothing while they wait for the enemy to ram down the gate, and when that takes too long they literally open the door to invite their enemies to come fight them inside.

There they could at least still have the high ground, but instead of just raining arrows and spears at them from the sides along the inside of the walls where they can't easily be hit themselves, they have one bowman and three guys throwing spears from a position where they can readily be shot by a bunch of blind crossbowmen from beyond the gates, and the rest is all down in the trenches with the enemy where they can easily be picked off in melee combat.

At one point one of the sighted has the enemy leader in her crosshairs but doesn't shoot because her gf (who is with the enemy) is looking at her funny. The enemy also has two sighted people (who are apparently fine with fighting for people who want to burn them alive for having eyesight), but instead of making it a priority to render them harmless, they seem to ignore them altogether as one of them - a kid - leads a band of crossbowmen with somehow perfect blind aim based his on vague directions on a killing spree through the trenches, until about halfway through the battle when someone finally gets the bright idea to tackle the guy carrying him around. Then one of the two sighted takes himself out of the battle to hold his buddy's hand as he slowly dies (and for a good while after that) while the bad guys slaughter their people around them.

They hold back a large contingent of their forces and drive the enemy into a dead end where they are walking on ice (conveniently hidden from sight by the snow so that the one sighted person with them doesn't notice, of course), then they crack the ice with large rocks as they scurry up the walls on ropes. The obvious thing to do would've been to at that point use those reinforcements to attack from the rear, maybe with some sort of shield wall or something, and drive the enemy into the freezing water. Of course, they don't do that. The reinforcements are just kind of standing there, watching the spectacle unfold. Well, it's a good thing those guys showed up in the nick of time, otherwise who could've possibly lowered all those ropes!

I admit I am not well versed in strategy and tactics, especially for two blind armies fighting one another in a kind of pre-medieval-type setting, but most of these things are simple common sense. It annoys me that they have such an interesting concept and they still can't do anything more interesting with it than "they walk around using their swords as canes, and they snap their fingers, because they're *blind* you see".

Instead maybe show how such a world might really work, like maybe it would be interesting if they did *not* have perfect aim - because, yaknow, they're blind - and they had to cleverly adapt to that, and they used this as a battle tactic by quietly luring the enemy into various traps that would not work on sighted people. Just have the writers put some minimal effort into not insulting the intelligence of your audience and produce something that does not consist of one long string of generic tropes, that's really all I ask for.

If you enjoyed it until now than it was a really good episode.
moethehoepubg13 December 2021
Everyone here is busy with tactics and technicalities. Let's get this straight, this show does not technically make any sense. A world of blind people wouldn't have good haircuts. They wouldn't fight with arrows. They wouldn't have colorful clothes. The list goes on, bottom line is this show is unrealistic. If you got this far and you're only now starting to realize this go seek help. I personally enjoy the acting, the story (although it gets a little much at times), and visually it's a cool show. If you watch this for the same reasons you will thoroughly enjoy this episode. I do feel like it will be hard to throw in another season without butchering the story line but clearly they plan on trying. Fingers crossed, I'll definitely give it a shot.

A little disappointed.(Spoilers)
john-8740218 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The good:

Very creative fight scene with lots of great camera work during the battle. I do enjoy that the episode starts the moment the previous one ended and I feel the used everyone in the battle appropriately.

The annoying:

The two characters they knock off during the battle I felt shouldn't have been(Toad and Edo). Knocking off Paris in the final scene also was silly in my opinion but with Toad gone that arc between those two is closed. I'm guessing these three have other projects coming up so they couldn't stick around for more but it seems there was much more they could've done with them.

Kane... seriously? At least we know she's a good bad guy because if she wasn't there's no way she'd annoy me as much as she does. However at this point the only thing I can see is Kofun helping her out somehow.

Haniwa and Wren... I mean the show has to end with them together, right? How many times are we going to go to the "I can't be with you right now and I won't fight you but we're together forever" well?

The questions moving forward:

Tamacti Jun giving the army the option out opportunity and then leaving himself seemed a bit out of place. I can understand he feels many will never accept the sighted but come on now. The city is pretty much defenseless at this point but no doubt they'll have new characters installed in those positions in season three. What bothers me is in a world of blind people I'm pretty sure soldiers just don't grow on trees.

Baba is off to the woods to build a cabin down by the river now I suppose and lead a solitary life? I'm guessing he feels that because Maghra and Harlan are married he's a third wheel? So your two next warriors left alive have both bolted because they're in their feels... got it.

Jerlamarel's son made bombs... sweet. Nothing cooler than blind people with bombs. I fully expect them to be like Stallone in the movie The Specialist come season 3. Stealth blind mad bombers that can only be stopped by Baba after his kids search the woods for him and beg for his help and leadership.

Final thoughts:

Don't get me wrong I've loved the show so far and I hope they find a way to close it out great, but I didn't necessarily like where they left us after this episode. I'll take a guess in saying I think season 3 will be the last unless Baba dies in the finale and it tries to move on without him. Like I said earlier, I think Toad, Edo, and Paris getting clipped was a bad idea but who knows, maybe that was part of the budget from day 1 since after Mamoa there's really nobody that should be killing the payroll now since everyone else is...who? Perhaps season 3 brings in another known actor/actress or two to help carry it down the stretch. We shall see.

8/10.

[9.3] The infernal mother
cjonesas30 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 8: A great episode with great acting, superb battles, realistic fight choreography, subtle fighting schemes, many realistically intense situations, some tiny humorous ones and some unrealistic characters play that are dissolved in the greatness of the episode.

The emotional moments felt real, the parting and good byes felt real, the ending plots arrangements toward those woods and 'Rock-a-Bye' weren't that smooth IMO; there was no need for both of them, no need for departures like that, but I guess the writers and producers aim to bring the show to an end with its third season while on top.

Queen Kane possesses real crazy charisma twisting deep in her cells and what she did, though I suspected an evil plan of hers, was one thing that I never would have thought possible, extending to such craziness. She's one mischievous b!^ch and her final act felt so damn real and having long-lasting consequences.

Beware of that creature masked as a woman. She will drag you to hell.

Not the worst season finale ever, but...
derseggo16 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
..there are so many things bugging me with this.

1.) Wren talking about how she can't leave her family. We never actually see her family ever. She was with Haniwa the whole time when she was captured. She was at the summit for the peace talks, away from her family for days / weeks, no problem. The only "family" we ever saw her having was Edo so why not just go with Haniwa?

2.) That little kid with sight telling the crossbowmen the directions. Sure he will be relevant in future seasons, but he makes his position known with his shouting all the time and no one kills him while the crossbowers wreak havoc.

3.) The blind crossbowmen have better aim than John Wick. I mean come on, you get mere directions where to shoot and three crossbowmen take out three people with each shot, not once but alle the time?

4.) Dissapearing corpses in the battle. Someone pointed that out in a comment already. After the first few "waves" tumbled in and a pile of corpses amounted at the gate, in the next shot they all vanished.

5.) Kofun blaming Haniwa for letting Wren go. Kofun has to blame absolutely no one for anything after what he did with the most disgusting character in any TV show ever.

6.) Why in the world are so many former witchfinders okay to fight with "witches" but once the battle is settled they leave the army because of their beliefs? Sure to be a nuisance in future seasons, but come on. It didn't convince me at all.

7.) Why is Sibeth not only unguarded in her room but also had the possibility to have a sharp object in her arm? When they took her dress and gave her those rags they should have checked her throughly. I get it, Sibeth really one of the most sickening characteres any TV show ever created. But the times she got away with stuff should really be over sometime.

Best thing I've ever seen game of thrones the way we all wanted it. This show is utterly fantastic from beginning to end. Skeptical from the first three episodes? Fair. Continue z I beg you to continue. I'm very into film and this is the single best finale I have ever seen. The blind planning the notation of a clear win I mean...I just mean.

Proper way to end a season.
sarahborgesouza17 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was thinking that the whole plot of the series was too weak despite having baba voss' brother as the season's great villain. Everything was so... No emotion and no action. No big happens But the end of this season really was amazing. I found the love between baba voss and his brother engaging because even if they have to fight against Edo, he knows his end and is ready for it Baba voss tries to avoid it as much as he can, because he knows he couldn't bear to kill his brother, the one he loves so much. Edo loves him too, problematically since the voss family is like that, but Still loves him. I think the departure of baba voss is a very good plot, as much as he loves his family and understands his wife's position, that doesn't He's not like that, a man who was born to be a king or a queen's husband and knows exactly where he belongs. I thought it was sensational, because he has donated himself to the family until now. So to have that personal moment with him is very satisfying to see. What about the death of Paris and Todd? It really broke the heart. A great season finale. Going into Season 3 with high expectations!
