No point watching this flop
MikeHunt107513 April 2022
This movie was bearable through the first two acts, but then I guess the Jersey Devil killed the writers and it was up to amateurs to write up the finale where it just takes lame turns for the worst.

The plot is about the survivors of a vehicle crash in the Pine Barrons that happened a year prior to the events of the film. The leading atrocity of an actors character beleives her cousin is still alive, because she thinks she saw her taken by the Jersey Devil. Makes sense, right? They return to the area and hire a guide to take them to the area who lures them into danger and the movie just falls apart from there.

First of all, the movie doesn't have the worst actors I've ever seen, well for the most part on all but two of the actors, but one of the actors, who is the lead of this film, IS possibly the worst actor I've ever witnessed on film. How was she cast in this as the lead? She's hard to look at and even harder to watch at just how God awful her performance is that completely ruins what could have been a half decent flick if they used someone who maybe has attended acting lessons at least once or twice before being cast in this.

Trying to ignore the worst preformance by a lead actress ive ever seen, this movie does actually feel like a movie. It had a decent premise, and didnt look too cheap, but it needed a much stronger re-write or better editors to have it flow better than the many times it provided it's confusing cluster bleeps in the plot that made it seem like the decisions on where the story should go got filmed, instead of being decided on paper first.

Had a bit more thought process and time got put into making it all make sense in its direction, it might've been a pretty good flick.

However, with its miss direction and confused plotlines leading into a stupid finale, along with a leading lady whom I'm personally naming as the worst actress of this mellenium, I can only give you fair warning to not bother checking this film out. Not unless you're a film student and wanna see how a movie shouldn't be put together, or curious to see just how bad a lead role can be played, then I advise you to just avoid watching this all together. Especially one that claims it stars Joe Estivez, whom briefly appears in a 5 second role that is highly unnoticeable, and mustve agreed to do some drunk screaming for 2 mins if someone bought him lunch or something?

It was pretty bad...
paul_haakonsen28 April 2022
Right, well where to start?

First of all, I have to admit that I had never even heard a single word about this 2022 horror movie from writers Tricia Aurand, Suzanne DeLaurentiis and Sandy Lo, so I wasn't sure what to expect here. But with it being a horror movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to sit down and watch what director Dale Fabrigar had to offer.

Well, the storyline is pretty weak. Sure, there were aspects to it that actually had potential. But the overall image was just a less than mediocre one. So this wasn't a particularly great horror movie experience. In fact, there wasn't really anything scary in the movie, especially not for someone well accustomed to the horror genre.

The dialogue in the movie was pretty awkward and it was somewhat toe-curling to listen to. But to make matters worse, then the actors and actresses were just fumbling around in the dark here delivering less than lukewarm performances and delivering the dialogue as if they were struggling to take it serious. The movie suffered terribly from these facts.

For a horror movie then "Reed's Point" was a swing and a miss. And this is definitely not a movie that I would recommend you waste your time, money or effort on. Some of us suffered through this movie so you don't have to. Trust me on that one.

My rating of "Reed's Point" lands on a very generous three out of ten stars.

Nope, sorry.

Warning: Spoilers
A vehicle crash in the Pine Barrens led to a Kerlsey's (Madison Ekstrand) disappearace and locals blamed it on the infamous Jersey Devil. Then, on the anniversary of the crash, Sarah Franklin (Sasha Anne), the cousin of the missing girl, and Alex (Evan Adams), Kelsey's boyfriend, head off to the crash site to discover what really happened.

Hey - there's Joe Estevez as the old man warning those teenagers not to ask too many questions. You know, if the last time I was in a town I watched someone get their arm torn off and a monster drag my friend into the woods, I probably wouldn't go back.

Dale Fabrigar also directed the genre-hopping D-Railed, which was a pretty good time. Written by executive producer Suzanne DeLaurentiis, Tricia Aurand (Middleton Christmas) and Sandy Lo, this film feels like it's searching for what it wants to be. It has a great creature, an interesting set-up and then struggles to put it all together. It's not the worst film you'll find on streaming, but it may be a bit frustrating because it gets so very close to being a good movie.

Terrible acting
MissAggravated13 April 2022
How did this even get made??? I've never acted before or been to acting school or have any natural acting ability that I know of but somehow I feel that even I could have done a better job than some of the wooden spoons in this movie. Shame because it looked like it could have been a lot better - the scenery wasn't too bad and the general idea was good but like a previous poster mentioned..it's way to hard to overlook the acting (yes... looking at you, leading actress...)

Man slapped with own arm
K_Rad8813 April 2022
The acting in this movie is so bad it made me want to cry.

The monster looks like someone in a cheap rental halloween ape costume, the bus crash was so badly filmed I could have done better on an iPhone 5. I cringed.

I turned it off after the monster tore off the dudes arm at about 10 mins in and then slapped him with the soggy end. I just can't.

Believe the bad reviews. This movie is pure garbage!
psxexperten22 April 2022
Starts Off Bad, But Wait, it Gets Worse... Whoever makes this garbage should stop and focus on something else. Wedding videos maybe? Or possibly just a new career in general because this is fraud.

With unoriginal scenes, poor acting skills, and just a terrible plot- this movie has managed to make amazed at just how AWFUL a movie can be.

The best way to watch is with the sound down while wearing a blind fold.

It tries
Fortressofdoors14 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After reading the reviews here, curiosity got the better of me and I had to see it for myself. There is no doubt it' s supposed to be about the Jersey Devil, as it's mentioned about 50 times in the opening. I'll call everyone by their movie name, because why does it even matter?

The first thing I noticed is when Alex shows Sarah his phone, the text message was supposed to be from a year prior, the last message he got from Kelsey, yet the messages both say sent and read, today 5:20 PM, so I knew what I was in for.

A bunch of stuff happens that doesn't matter and they go back to the site to find Kelsey a year later. The guide that shows up in seconds somehow and they go looking. I still haven't figured out how Alex got so tangled up in a tree stump from falling down a hill that he had to be cut out of it. Fast forward through some more stuff that doesn't matter and they end up at what seems to be the only house in the vicinity. Meanwhile, their boss (I guess) has no idea where they are, goes to the middle of nowhere to look for them in the middle of the night in the woods with a flashlight and meets her demise. Well, ok then. The guy who owns the house has Kelsey held hostage in the basement in a room that looks like Fort Knox. Sarah somehow magically opens the door. The guy who owns the house is pretending to be the Jersey Devil. Or is he? I don't know, they don't know either apparently. Kelsey does a bad job of fake tripping and falling down from here on out.

So many people were getting knocked out, punched out, butted with the stock of a rifle or hit across the head that I'm surprised the whole cast didn't have concussions. Everyone did an alright job as far as acting goes, except for the two lead girls. Sarah was an absolute plank of wood...with a bad haircut to boot.

If Only There Had Been No Survivors...
Fox_Prime2 September 2022
It's been a long time since I've seen acting this bad from this movie company.

Between the two leads, the female is the absolute worst. She needs to figure out something to do with her life cause acting ain't gonna be her bread and butter. She's not easy in the eyes, she has some weird speech impediment, and her delivery is just the absolute worst.

The guy isn't much better, but he doesn't come off like a high schooler in a play reading memorized lines like she does. Do these people, yeah people cause they sure as hell ain't actors and movie makers, even watch the final product? Can they really sit there and think they did a good job and delivered top performances? If so then these people are more delusional than I thought.

Overall, story might have turned out ok if not for the terrible acting bringing it down so low and making it so unbearable that watching it almost makes you want to take a power drill to your temple.

Skip this, even free with ads wasn't enough for me. I personally stuck it out cause I read the end took a turn for the worse from other reviews. I was curious how much worse this could possibly get. Just don't start this journey, heed the warnings and bad reviews as reliable advice.

Reed's Pointless...
tmccull526 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
"Reed's Point" isn't just bad; it's stupefyingly, galactically bad. From the scenes in the RV, to the RV crash, to Joe Estevez's horrendous "crazy-old-codger-delivering-the-requisite-warning-to-those-crazy-kids" performance, this movie sucks like a nymphomanical hooker at a Viagra convention. I never thought that I would see another "creature in the woods" movie as bad as the insipid "White Fangs" movie, but I was wrong. "Reed's Point" is every bit as awful.

The acting is beyond horrendous, and there are more plot holes than you'd find in a wheel of Swiss cheese. The characters make every single stupid, irrational decision that you can think of. Two people are searching for a third person, and when one of them virtually steps on something that belonged to the missing third person, she summarily dismisses the clue, blows it off completely. Then, this same intuitive genius pays way too much attention to the mysterious sounds of a house settling.

The script and plot make absolutely no sense whatsoever. Our intrepid searchers venture out into the woods with an armed man that they know absolutely nothing about, and when one of them.is injured, the other goes off to find help. In finding help for the injured searcher, the one who went for help finds time to share a cup of coffee and swap stories with an apparent Good Samaritan, all while the other is laying trapped alone, in the dark woods, with a compound fracture of his lower leg.

There's a monster. There's a conspiracy among the locals that our heroes stumble into. Evil abounds! Oh no! This is frankly one of THE dumbest f--king movies that I've ever had the misfortune of seeing. Spare yourself. Watching a constipated dog trying to evacuate it's bowels would be more rewarding and satisfying than watching this rancid turdfest.

It aint easy bein' cheesy
payupyou21 April 2022
Joe Estevez at his best! Fabrigar's typical formula; cheesy script, weak story, a well-known actor thrown in with unknowns = a paycheck. But could anyone reading this do better? I'm saying probably not....making a feature film is not easy, getting it to the screen is even harder.

Having said that, the film still isn't worth a recommendation.

The film lacks in many areas, has the usual trappings and tropes but no momentum. It took me at least three hours of on, pause, on, pause, and repeat. I stuck with it quite honestly because I was making soup and this was just a distraction during a pretty mundane task.

Not much I can say other than to quote Joe's character "You've been warned, you've been warned!".

A generally enjoyable creature feature
kannibalcorpsegrinder20 April 2022
After her friend goes missing, a woman joins her friends on a trip into the woods to investigate and find answers to what happened, but when they eventually stumble upon the purported Jersey Devil living in the woods they have to escape from the creature and another threat in the woods.

This was a rather fun and enjoyable creature feature. Among the stronger aspects here is the fun setup that provides this one with a rather intriguing setup. The cold opening featuring the accident that fuels her obsession with finding her missing cousin and the strange animal she claims she saw at the time is a good start, especially connecting this with the stories and reports about the creature living in the area. The various sightings told about it over the years and how it fuels the film going forward where everyone they come into contact with is aware of it gives this a nice starting point into the creatures' existence. Likewise, the search to find her and the strange hiking mission they undertake to go into the woods looking for her cousin which turns into a survival thriller involving them coming upon the shady hiker and the mysterious scientist living out in the woods creates some intriguing aspects to this one as it goes along. Aside from this, the film also manages to feature some rather enjoyable creature action the appearance at the crash site at the beginning is a nice starting point where its hairy legs and massive claws are the only brief hints shown as it slashes one of the victims and drags another away in a haze due to the injuries sustained in the accident. Likewise, the brief ambushes sequences out in the woods later on are quite fun, with it appearing on the trail of a victim looking to find the missing group and attacking, the ending ambush in the woods of it chasing down and hunting the last remaining survivors through the woods have some rather likable elements here with the night-time setting and dizzying woodlands location providing some enjoyable aspects. Along with the generally imposing creature costume that looks rather good and a fun pace that's never boring, this one has a lot to like about it. There isn't much to dislike here but it does have some issues. The biggest factor with this one is the film turning away from the creature feature setup to become a showing about the family vengeance that's a more prominent part of the second half. Hen the creature's origins are revealed and it turns away from that kind of film into more about the strangers holding them hostage, it becomes almost comical how ludicrous this section of the film actually is including numerous scenes involving characters knocking each other out with the butt of a gun to get the upper-hand or chaining them up only to escape moments later. The explanations for everything taking place aren't any more enjoyable and this part of the film is a bit of an issue. As well, combined with the obvious low budget here that comes through at the most inopportune points for the night-time sequences being too dark to tell what's going on, these here are the main drawbacks.

Rated Unrated/R: Violence and Language.

Career change needed for these "actors"
TheDonkadonk8 May 2022
Ok, the name and concept actually had abit of potential to be a good horror, but after seeing the awkwardness of the actors i knew it would be a painful watch, and it was.

Adam Evans please focus on something else, you cannot act at all, start up a hemp shop or something because you looked out of it during the whole film.

Atrocious Acting Ruins What Could've Been a Decent B Movie
hellsing2183 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The movie wasn't anything special but the plot was interesting enough, at least until about the halfway point when it becomes overly convoluted and nonsensical. As the title suggests, they must've hired the cheapest newbies they could find because the main characters don't seem to know when to bring emotion or tone it down. Some of the older actors are alright, but they can't salvage this film. Trying to mix in a Hatfields and McCoys type gimmick was a stupid idea someone should've shot down the moment it was suggested.

Overall it's not worth wasting your time over, try out "The Last Broadcast" which is a good film about the Jersey Devil.

Confusing and boring without much horror
jastleh9 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
When a movie comes on with one of the great cryptoids of modern times, you would expect a good film. Like so many of these legends, movies tend to shy away from these type of creature features. When they finally get to them - it usually ends in a horrible mess like this. This does the Jersey Devil more harm than good.

While the movie deals with the Devil it also manages to serve up family melodrama and wooden acting that is so unconvincing that it is painful to watch. There are themes about family heritage and feuds and the costs they do to legacies as well as the Stockholm Syndrome that any average viewer can see from a mile away. The horror itself is very bland from the standard C grade shlock with the actual creature does not even looking like what legend says it looks like. It looks like a person in a rubber suit with some slime coming from its mouth - it doesn't even have wings.

The sad part of this movie is their is a decent story in there not what this has served up. Its like they tried to deliver a powerful punch story and got lost halfway through and decided let's just end it with the usual horror elements and hope the audience won't notice. Apologies but we do and the two stars is only two because I managed to get to the end of this disaster.

Nice if it made any sense.
anthdavjoy20 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It didn't start out too bad. I mean it was far from decent. Even for the relatively short run time it was slow. It had potential. It could have been way better with a little effort. However it has one of the dumbest endings I have ever seen. The girl has a total mental break for no real reason. She just vanishes from the back of the police car and that is it you don't see her again. Somehow in the time the woman turned to look in the back seat, the creature quietly opened the car door, quietly removed the police officer and quietly sat in the seat. All without the woman knowing. Seriously? Then quietly ran back into the bushes to appear behind the other girl. Who I suppose just wanders off with it? Why? She going to give it little Devil bables?

Music it suposed to set the mood
starynightst13 September 2023
Music is one of the most important parts of a movie . It's suposed to set the right mood for each scene .

This is soap opera music . It's ruining the movie . I can't even get into it.

Music can make or break a movie . I can hear this one breaking .

Maybe if it put me in the right mood I would have actually finished the movie .

This music , and the bad acting put me more in the mood to look for another movie to watch .

Maybe another time I will watch it on mute and read subtitles to try and get through it that way .

But usually if a movie disappoints me already in the first quarter , I don't usually go back .

Did these people even do research?
paulgras22 November 2023
Being from South jersey minutes from where the Jersey Devil is from, this is annoying.

How do you call a movie Reed's Point, when it is from Leeds Point? Born to Mrs. Leeds. Hence why it's called Leeds Point.

At least follow the story somewhat instead of showing a bunch of news paper articles.

I don't know if it's because they weren't allowed to use the Family name or what.

That fact alone is horrible. Goes along with a flop of a movie. I wouldn't even waste your time with this horrendous movies and utterly bad actors.

I'm still waiting to find a decent movie to be made about the Jersey Devil from Leeds Point, NJ.

There's Bad and Then There's This
dubbanana3 December 2023
Bad dialogue, bad acting, bad cinematography, bad directing, costumes, blood, everything about this is plain bad. The opening scene with the music on the bus? The music is drowning out the conversation to the point of rendering the scene as pointless. The crash? Seriously? The fake blood, the creature slapping the father with his own arm that he tore off.

The entire purpose of a movie is to tell a story on some level. Yes, the plot revolves around the Jersey Devil, a local legend that the majority of the state doesn't even know or care about. They named a hockey team after it here and people went "why are they calling them the New Jersey Devils?" I say "why was this movie ever made?"

Not really that bad
kurtgschumacher18 April 2022
I put this movie on when I was having trouble falling asleep. It did not put me to sleep, so that's a plus. I will say that my expectations were not that high. It's a low-budget "young people go into the woods and find a monster" movie. I was not expecting Masterpiece Theater. I was expecting that there were going to be plot holes, and people doing really stupid things, and a lot of monster-in-the-woods cliches. That's what I got, and the movie kept me awake and entertained for an hour and a quarter.

I also expected a cliched ending, because that's what you get in this kind of movie. But even cliches should be done well, and this one was not. It didn't make any sense to me, even in the context of a low-budget horror movie. I took a point off my rating for a bad ending, otherwise I like the movie.

Bad reviews from bad critics
