I am HERE for...
normabette9 April 2021
... a Miguel and Nicky friendship. Both actors were fantastic as they felt out their dynamic in this episode.

8/10 on the cry meter tonight as the Beth and her mum and Beth and Tess scenes really got me in my own daughter of a mum and mum of a daughter centre.

The Expected and the What the Hell?!?!
Quinn407715 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
No real surprises here except for in the last minute or two -and it's not that the wedding crashes and burns, cause that's been coming since we met Kevin. We know that Tobi and Kate are coming to an end but the cranky British music teacher?!?!? At least that big cliff hanger and the smaller one uttered in one line by Nicky give me a reason to really want to watch Season 6 which we now know is the Final Season (whew, so glad they made the choice to go out on what I pray is a high note and not go for A LOT more seasons as the show creator had once alluded: "...this show could go on forever...") Some character applause: The character who originally annoyed me to no end now shines and in retrospect deserves some recognition for her growth as a character and I think as an actress in Season 5, MADISON! She triumphs over so much in the season and especially in this last episode. Her flashbacks and last words to Kevin are so well-done. A female needed to say something like that to him cause Randall, Toby, and Nicky certainly have been. Also, thank goodness Rebecca and Randall finally wrapped up 5 seasons of their birth-parent secret scandal! Mandy Moore nailed it. SKB nails it all the time. Some character criticisms: Kevin! Yes, I've already been hard on him here.... He has been amping up and up all season and falling over himself for far too long while pulling his loved ones down with him into his battle to prove himself! Walking out on a film with DeNiro and trying to pay Tobi with his "silly money". Kevin is not a great actor because I think that's part of his character and because I think Kevin Hartley isn't. Good actors tend to portray actors in general a lot better. Duh. And, finally, to Tess and Rebecca: I am a 40 year old, good looking straight woman AND in a lifetime of flower girl and bridesmaid gigs I have NEVER felt like myself in the dress! Props to Beth for supporting her but she could have saved Tess decades of learning by saying, "Hey, you're going through a lot, but being a bridesmaid has NOTHING to do with you and if you can't handle that then you might as well learn now how to suck it up, slap a smile on, and put on the dress when you say 'yes' or when you have no choice to participate like now and start practicing how to say 'no' to being a bridesmaid when asked. This is not the time to address your personal growth and gender/sexuality issues. But hey we are gonna talk all this out after this giant, over-privileged, rich WASP wedding weekend is over. Coddling you in this moment will not benefit you in the long run and I'll make damn sure you understand why...later but not now. I love you." Whew, I've been holding that in since the episode aired. Essentially, most of the Pearsons could learn to reign in their personal issues at big events! But hey, it's a family-based drama that tries to address every issue someone can have for four seasons and then do it again for a fifth season while embracing the covid pandemic. Whew...

Debbie Allen gives a masters class in acting
Racingphan28 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Debbie Allen just acts circles around the main cast here on this episode. Acting isn't just thrashing around bellowing emotions. Quiet moments can say more. And Debbie Allen says volumes with a look.

Great insight to both Miguel and Nicky's characters
ldamena7 April 2021
& unknowingly their relation to each other. I didn't like Miguel in the beginning for the same reason Nicky didn't in this ep but, it's episodes like this that may him likable and get to know him better. He was a great friend to Jack and still is even though Jack is long gone. Nicky was frustrating this ep but I'm glad he realized that his beef wasn't really with Miguel but with himself and his guilt that he carries over what happened with Jack & apologized. Miguel carries that same guilt which is what led them to bond. This episode also showed how hard it is to be a mother to a growing teen very realistically/relatably. I swear my mom gave me that same Beth speech when I was a kid lol. Kevin is gonna be a great husband and father the signs are all there. Randall's issues with his adoption are leading somewhere not quite sure where yet, but it's gonna be big. Wish Toby would have been honest with Kate like Madison was with Kevin but I guess not everything can be perfect. 10/10.

Movie foward episode!

Warning: Spoilers
Excellent episode. The plot goes forward. Wonderful moments with Jack and Miguel. In a way, This Is Us will remind us of that time of pronouns and that time of pandemic. A very entertaining episode albeit without the spark that thrills every time.

10/10 !

Miguel's Story
Hitchcoc16 May 2024
This episode has a couple of significant focuses. We get more into Miguel's story. He is, without a doubt, the best friend anyone could have. Unfortunately, he has to take the bumps and bruises of being an outsider. It is a great scene when Rebecca's dad shows up on the day Jack is going to propose. One missing bit of information has to do with a ring and dental floss. I may have to look that up. Randall's family is back and he is entering a support group for those never met their birth parents (or met them much later in life). Some striking moments. We also have a further interaction between Beth and her daughter over their gayness. Once again, this show makes it clear that nothing is simple. Well done.

Sloppy
skyeinnovations11 March 2022
Why has Kate and Toby's son dark with dark eyes, when we've seen him as an adult fair with blue eyes. Very sloppy work. Sack the casting director. Don't think I'll be watching season 6. Dead for me now.
