I don't know how they did it but holy shit is this an improvement, and i gotta say I do like the first 2 seasons but this just feels so different, so much more compelling and just better overall, first two episodes were so thrilling and this one really hit me, i am loving the story and i cant wait to see how it will develop and eventually end.

Best episode of this show yet. Intense, shocking and had my heart racing throughout. Just a complete and total step up in tone from every other season. I'm amazed.

As an avid superhero media consumer, this is one of the best episodes of television i've seen

No spoilers.

It has been a while since i have watched titans, i wasnt sure whether i would be able to immediately get back into it. I couldn't have been more wrong.

The first 3 episodes of this season have left me shocked, at how good DC television can be.

I can't wait for more.

That was 40 minutes of absolutely brilliant television in a dramatic show - Titans is back stronger than ever
Holt34413 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After the events of the previous episode, Red Hood have emerged and the ending revealed that it's Jason Todd. It makes it clear that this season is all about family, the Titans against Red Hood and later on Starfire against Blackfire (her sister). It's the right direction for the show. Episode 3 is titled "Hank and Dove" and it's seriously a great one, the stakes are high and it's filled with suspension. Incredible even and one of the show's best.

Millicent Shelton's direction was incredible, the work she did and the vision she had was simply the right, I wish she will direct more episodes and it's always a good thing bringing back directors from past seasons. Visually, this episode was breathtaking with gorgeous cinematography and one word... Wow. There aren't that many new sets in this episode but the locations and seeing more of Gotham is always a good thing as the universe grows bigger. The location scouts did a terrific job with this episode and the previous two. This episode is character driven and slower paced than the previous episode which were more action packed, but there are some great drama in this episode and honestly some of the best drama of the entire show. The actors are brilliant, especially Alan Ritchson, Minka Kelly and Brenton Thwaites. Their performances were terrific from start to finish.

It took me three episodes to miss Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth, and the reason is that this story arc have been extremely good. But I'm certain she will return in the next episode (Episode 4). Though Superboy haven't had a real character arc this season, his actions and presence haven't gone unnoticed, he is of such big importance in this episode and I believe he will get a great character arc in the upcoming episodes. This was an incredible episode.

RIP hank. Are you SERIOUS DAWN???? All she had to do was wait until the 2nd last heartbeat and then pull the trigger if she didn't think the Titans were going to save hank!!!!!! Superboy saved him! He would've stopped the bomb and Dawn just couldn't listen to Dick, I know why she did though. I understand why Dawn did what she did and I sympathize with her I'm just mad Jason Todd got away with it. Rick Grayson is a wonderful substitute for Batman his leadership and decision making is top tier. Superboy is sooo awesome and cool. I love that they made him intelligent and overpowered, as he should be. Amazing episode. Best season so far! 100 MORE.

OMG It is impossible to convey emotions in words. It's just great. The final twist is just a kick-ass. The game of the red hook surprised me a lot. These 3 episodes are the best that happened to the titans in the history of the series.

Krypton...
songod-9500324 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
When the dog walked out of the burning bedroom and licked Connor's hand... that is when I lost it. Many tears!

Can't tell you how surprised I am that a core character of the show is dead. Even with the explosion, I thought maybe Krypton (the dog) somehow absorbed the explosion. But no.

If he somehow is alive and or his twin brother shows up? I stop watching. Dislike when media (TV, movies) manipulate my emotions.

Everyone's an idiot... but an enjoyable episode
minxiepinx14 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Everyone has been dumbed down to make the villain look super-intelligent - it is very bad writing. But still, the outcome (no matter how obvious) was well executed (see what I did there?). I was almost certain that Dove would be the one to die in a "huge twist", but no, they made it her fault Hank died. Pretty evil.

I'm hoping this is the end of the dumb titans and that the writing gets better from here, but I doubt it. Well acted, the mood/lighting is fantastic, and the effects are well done. If only the script could match everything else this would be seen as the definitive Batman-related tv series.

I love what they've included but the way they get from "a" to "b" leaves a lot to be desired.

Why oh why?
stuvharris14 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I really like Titans and in general it's good. However it's often let down by some real lazy writing, making characters do something they just wouldn't do.

Like you have Superboy yet Dick hardly uses him. To often Dick goes off on his own when he's seen first hand how that gets others into trouble. In this episode it's Hanks that goes off alone, does stupid things and dies because of it. Will Dick learn from it? Nope, he'll carry on making stupid mistakes to the end.

But what really got me in this episode, no it wasn't that Dove picked up the gun that Jason told her to pick up and fire at him only to find out it was actually the detonator. No it was that once she did it and realised Hanks bomb had gone off, both her and Dick for some reason just let Jason walk out of there. They just stood there having a little cry to themselves and sespite them both being superhero's, neither bother to think " oh let's grab the evil Jason who is currently stood right in front of us". "Oh no wait he's gone a split second ago, but let's not bother looking for him let's instead cry because he blew up our friend".

And that not the only time the Titans, mostly Dick, just seem to let the villain go. In another episode they go to a fa Tory purely to catch Crane, yet don't even bother looking for him. Instead they fight every low level thug they can find and just waste time doing so. Of course Superboy is there and could easily just whiz around in about ten seconds and take everyone out but they don't use him.

Too often the villain just walks away at the end. Ok I get that it would be a short show if they catch them straight away, it just put some effort into the writing.

Great episode with a plot hole
gomestim17 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The entire episode was really good! The tension, buildup, acting, everything. I have only one remark that really bothered me while watching: why didn't Dawn shoot at Jason's arm. I know it was a detonator and not a gun, but she didn't know it at the time. There didn't have to be a debate on killing him or Hank, because, in her mind, she could have just shot at his hand, leading him to drop his finger off of the release and thereby saving Hank. Again, I know it wasn't true in the end but that doesn't take away the fact that Dawn wouldn't have had to kill Jason anyway. This is the only reason I rated this episode an 8 instead of a 9.

Shocked, sad and seething
ha77y73ad9710 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is now the series should be moving, there was the old school greatest detective vibe, true threat to the characters and a stylistic tone that was hit prefectly

I truly felt this story, when your that engaged to an episode its been portrayed and written to prefection. All the characters had a part to play here. Nightwing trying to find every way possible to not deal with Jason and his games. Dove breaking every rule that is laid down to save her love. Connor and Gar working at full speed to find an alternative! Was just put together so well and dare i say a fitting send off to Hank who after all the said and done loved the team, dropped everything to come back!

The twist, oh my god! I was struck when that happened! You will never see that kind of twist outside a dc story or netflix superheros series

Overall im so looking forward to seeing the next episode!

Good episode, a good load of action and a bit of suspense thrown in as well. Nice twist at the end, but a little too sobby wussy at the end. Kind of predictable, but still a good episode.

Hank Blew Up Real Good
Gislef28 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The episode mostly focuses on Hank aka Hawk. How he lets his temper and impulsiveness get the best of him, put him in a trap, and he becomes the sacrifice to show how bad-ass Jason is now.

At least the main characters get something to do. Gar shares a tender moment with Hank, Conner displays some super powers for an extended period super-speeding to build the deactivator, and Kory rather unbelievably acts as the team's liaison to Barbara. Unbelievable not because she's good at it, but just because Kory hasn't had that much to do in the series.

The episode is mostly about Hank, Dawn, and Jason. Yes, we get more of Jason being shown to be a total jerk. First he rigs Hank to explode, then he tries to extort the Titans into robbing an armored car and further discrediting themselves in Gotham, then he tricks Dawn into essentially killing Hank. Good times.

The season still focusses a lot on Gotham and the Bat Family. IMO, they've overstayed their welcome and I wish the show would trust itself enough to give us more of Kory, and Gar, and Conner. Not to mention Rachel, who is off. I hope she's enjoying her beach vacation. And Deathstroke, Ravager, and Jericho. We had Jericho last season, and then... nothing.

But season 3 is what it is, and it's pretty good for that. Next episode we'll get more of Blackfire and Kory's background. And then with episode 5 it's a full Jason episode, as the production staff go back to the Bat Family well. . *sigh*

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. What do you think?

Warning: Spoilers
One of the better episodes of this series but still...

Love how they rush Red Hood but three seasons in and Gar still only turns into one animal. (Budget).

Really didn't have to shoot Jason to get him to move his thumb. Ever heard of a punch?

This show has great costumes and set pieces but still struggles with its plot and characters.

Horrible writing, unbelievable situations
iamtheuf2 October 2021
I can't explain how bad this episode is without giving spoilers, but suffice it to say it involves a good guy blindly following the instructions of a bad guy. The good guy does things that make no sense without pushing back or asking why. Really just seems like an excuse for gratuitous nudity.

Great atmosphere, high prod. values, good acting however abysmal writing
sumtim3s00n14 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
You have Titans going against one guy in an industrial complex. Non-powered dude against basically Superman (boy) , an alien and shapeshifter (btw when are we going to see him shift into sth else like in comics).

But of course we have to have a one on one with Dick so he can portay the "leader" despite Superboy was in earshot and just he could easily take down everyone in the complex singlehandedly.

But Dick doesnt call for back up which would be there in miliseconds or anything. He fights by himself, he loses,, they go home.

Good writers adapt good stories so characters use their strenghts. Bad writers write stories and bend them to fit their dramatic arc not the logic of the situation.

Also Im astounded by the stupidity of said writers. Hank, Dove and DOG are on the bed and Hank says basically that he wouldnt mind an "orgy" right here and now, as in Dove, him and the dog. THE DOG! WTH? I know the dog is superdog and smart but come on.... Or the writers do not know the definition of the word.

But one of the worst negatives is the casting of Bruce. Bruce is a playboy, however he is also a physically impressive, strong but silent and imposing in many ways. Here Bruce is an english gentlement who all that he needs it a twirling umbrella and singing in the rain in the background. He is not imposing, he is not dark and brooding and he is pathetic. And when he asks Dick all hat in hand to come back, that he cant do it without him all pathetic like. Over, down the drain.

These writers NEVER read one comic or did not understand them. Also Barbara is one of the worst characters. Right there with Skylar from BB. Illogical, always complaining, 100% emotional and blames Batman for everything and that hes ruining kid's lifes.. Batman took kids in and helped them not fall even lower, gave them everything, helped them push forward scales towards good. It was the only way he knew how to help and show affection, love. The writers obviously again didnt do their homework.

Barbara (and Dick) accusing Bruce of being a selfish , immoral crazy person... I wonder what Stan Lee wouldve said about this writing.

Batman had a traumatic childhood and this was the only way he knew how to help other kid stay out of the gutter. Commendable not crazy.

Anyway.... Luckily, the choreography is excellent (nothing like Iron fist or that sad bunch), as said the Gotham has the right atmosphere, the CGI is good enough, acting also.

If only the writing was not so very pathetic and focused on onedimensional drama and ignoring character's strenghts just to fit the melodrama of the story.
