ITV's Christmas schedules felt a bit like someone rushing down to the petrol station on Christmas Eve night trying to buy top quality gifts.
It's no surprise then that they dedicated much of their prime-time Christmas Day schedule to the old reliable 'BGT' to bring in the ratings.
Unfortunately it all feels a bit pointless, like a rehash of the 'Champions' mini-series a while ago.
It's all done with its heart in the right place, but ultimately only proves how woefully unfunny David Walliams is, and that Alesha Dixon can make 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas' sultry.
Wouldn't it have been better for Ant and Dec (the only two people who have really done well for ITV in 2020) to just do a Christmas Special on their own.
None of ITV's programmes made it into the top 5 rated programmes on Christmas Day. They I'm sure will bang on about "catch- up views not being counted in that", but the fact remains that people just didn't rate their programmes highly enough. And this is a fine example as to why.
