Warning: Spoilers
This was not meant to be the mid season finale but due to COVID it was. However the episode did contain a cliffhanger (of sorts) that gives it s bit of that finale feeling. However that does not take away from it being another fantastic episode of this season of Fear. Like other people have been saying I got a Texas Chainsaw Massacre feel from this episode and it made it ten times better. The technical aspect also really helped, with the cinematography being once again outstanding and really engaging. I really liked the character of Ed that was introduced and his backstory was tragic. The walkers he created were really cool in design however, even if it was a bit creepy. Charlie was also not that annoying this time around. In fact I don't think she was at all, which is surprising. She played off of Alicia really well, which she herself got to shine this episode, joined by Ginny's sister Dakota. Dakota is clearly nothing like her sister and I'm glad Morgan decided to take her with them to his place at the end of the episode. The confrontation with strand was really tense in my opinion and after the cliffhanger (of sorts) it's hard to see where his loyalties truly lie.

Overall this was another very good episode of Fear's 6th season. Things seem to be building up to a clash with Morgan, Virginia, Sherry's people, and this mysterious "The End is the Beginning" group. And I for one cannot wait to see where it all leads and how this conflict will end.

Final rating: 9/10

Damage from the Inside is an horror inspired episode filled with amazing cinematography and writing, excellent use of visual storytelling
Holt34423 November 2020
Tawnia McKiernan directed this week's episode and the characters we get to follow are Morgan Jones, Alicia Clark, Victor Strand, Charlie, Virginia and Dakota. Throughout this season, we have seen Strand going back to his old self and his plan is to gain Virginia's trust and do some damage from the inside which he said at the end of S5 and in this season.

There are some very carefully placed camera angles in this episode which makes for some nice shots and for some visual storytelling, great cinematography and direction. Visually stunning episode I have to say. Mix all the camera work with the natural lightning, tones of mystery and psychological and you will see why I love the episode. It's like a character study in a way, slow paced and high focus on character development.

Raphael Sbarge plays Ed, an interesting character and a realistic portrayal of human psychology in how someone would act after living alone in a post-apocalyptic world. There's a lot of good acting in this episode, other than Raphael Sbarge, all of the lead actors does a terrific job throughout the episode. What's a little disappointing is how this serves as a mid-season finale, it's written as a normal episode. The writing is far from bad, it was actually well written and on par with the other episodes, some dialogue was decent but it was mostly great, overall writing was superb though. I wanted more answers and a semi-conclusion to the first half of S6, this wasn't supposed to be a midseason finale so it wasn't their fault. The anthology format will hopefully continue in the second half as the writers are doing a super good job at the storytelling and the pacing doesn't feel slow as each episode digs deep into our beloved characters but the red thread exists and all the pieces matter. I can't wait to see what else they will bring to the table.

The ending contains huge spoilers but I will say this, when Fear The Walking Dead returns I will sit in my couch and watching. The anthology format have been so good, and the stories we have followed, everything have been perfect. I have to say, the showrunners get the show now, twists and morally grey characters, simply bringing the Fear back to the show. Strand is his himself again and Colman Domingo's performance is incredible.

A Spine-Chilling Masterpiece
littlebizzare22 November 2020
This Texas Chainsaw Massacre-inspired episode is the return of Alycia Debnam Carey and Alexa Nisenson as they explore an eerie setting with an intense feel throughout the installment.

It does it's best to make two characters more interesting since they were butchered horribly last season, making Alexa's character way more intelligent - a Clementine-esque (but not nearly as remarkable as Clementine) character as well as making Alicia slightly tougher yet still attached to her season 5 persona.

Phenomenal directing. Close up eye shots. A series of horror vibes, as well as scarier walkers. Although, some strange out-of-character moments occur within the installment that raises a ton of red flags. Despite that, the show and the visuals are relatively stunning. And this is the best Fear has been in years. Regardless, Season 3 is still superior.

It ends on a cool (yet anticlimactic considering some screeners hyped it up too much) cliffhanger that begins the clash between our two groups. This episode mostly formed an army and set up the events that will occur in the rest of the season and it's quite intriguing to see all of this unfold.

The ending of this episode most likely builds up to the big midseason finale, the leverage. There might have to be a trade between the two groups, not sure if it'll be a peaceful or chaotic trade. But it's very exciting. Episode 8, coming next year apparently.

Brick by brick the walls come down
Chandlerstewart8922 November 2020
This anthology style sixth season has taken us on a journey inside Virginia's settlements. Episode 7 titled "Damage from the Inside" is Alicia centric with stellar performances from Alycia Debnam-Carey, Alexa Nisenson, Colman Domingo and Zoe Colletti. The plot is still interesting, the cinematography is great and the overall story arc and different subplots are coming together nicely.

Episode 8 next year, will be the conclusion to the first half of the season. It can't come out soon enough. This is great television.

Thank you

The first part of season 6 is at the end of the road, and it dawned on me how important this show has been for a humble European in a sad time, marked by a worldwide pandemic. I'm not a person who tends to write reviews, but today I felt I had to.

To initially summarize the first half of the season, I would argue this is some of the better stuff The Walking Dead franchise has delivered in terms of content in recent years. A western based anthology story set in an apocalyptic world has proven to be the right strategy for a show that prevously has not properly found its foothold. Well, that is about to change, I actually choose to claim that Fear The Walking Dead has never been better than it is at the moment. And for this I want to express a BIG thank you to everyone involved creating this incredibly interesting sixth season! It means a lot to a loyal viewer who has always seen the potential in the series.

The episode itself is good, there are many nice moments and acting performances, in interaction with solid camera work and cinematography, dialogue and action. A special mention to Alycia Debnam-Carey who owned every single scene she was a part of. I've missed this version of Alicia, and now she's back better than ever. It is worth mentioning that this was not the original midseason final, this is unfortunately postponed until 2021.

There's so much going on at the moment, I can't help but wonder how it all with tie up in the end. Nevertheless, this episode lays the foundation for an exciting second part of the season. You can count on me being glued to the screen when that time comes. In times like this, this show is exactly what I need. Thank you.

The Return of Alicia Clark
cybersix-1608323 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I loved the horror movie vibes, I think they fit in perfectly with walking dead universe shows. I only had 2 sort of minor complaints in this episode which is fairly low considering I am a fairly critical viewer. My first one was how did Strand not hear the convoy being taken out by Morgan and also how did he take them out with a melee weapon against 15 rangers with guns? My other complaint is a bit more minor and its relating to Alicia's desire to not kill Ed after she injures him to the point of no return. I get that she is still holding onto some of her traits from previous seasons but this guy was literally about to kill you a minute ago and take Dakota anyway. Then she feels so sorry for him a minute later, I hope we see a darker more vicious side of alicia clark start to develop in 6B. Other than those minor complaints, I thought this episode was a perfect setup to 6x08 while also being a standout episode for the last remaining member of the clark family. I love seeing conflict between the characters we are interested in (Alicia,Morgan and Strand) My favorite moment of this episode was Alicia and Morgan reuniting and standing as one. They are an incredibly kickass duo. As Alicia starts to find herself more in 6B I hope she develops in a similar way to Morgan this season, to where she is able to take a life if the situation calls for it but also retain being a genuinely good person.

Not the best but still awesome
ubilstein23 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Personally this episode didnt quite strike me like the majority of the others did. Dont get me wrong, I think the directing and ideas inspired by the texas chainsaw massacre were cool and I also enjoy, that there is a nice "Negan-esque" build up for the next episode, which is the real mid-season finale. I also enjoyed the dialog between Morgan and Alicia because you ask yourself the question aswell "What would you do with Dakota?" And also Charlie was good in this episode(I know that these words are forbidden here) But overall the texas chainsaw theme felt more like a cool idea in the heads of the writers than actually serving any narrative purpose.

All in all Im just happy that Fear is awesome again and we can enjoy it together😊 In addition I love that they fully realized so many various ideas this season with great production design, cinematography, writing and acting. Hope 6B is as great as A!

Everyone From the Gultch?
songod-9500323 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A bit confused. Other than Morgan, Ginny has everyone in her settlements, sans Al and Dwight who are presumed dead and Dorie who is long gone. Are they who she meant?

Keeping Strand alive after his amazing bungle made no sense. Sure he's one of the stars but her not killing him showed her as weak. Her "men" who saw this must be thinking she is going soft.

And why is pregnant Grace in isolation? Her radioactivity? Not communicable as far as I know!

I was thinking for a bit that Ginny may not be the "bad" we think she is but now don't know. Maybe she is just another governor clone. Honestly he was the only real threat these shows have faced. Negan was bungled, Alpha coulda woulda but was nothing in the end, Crazy Lady a joke, and Max Headroom an empty suit. It would be a nice change if Ginny was really trying to protect people and so forth. That there was a true "villain" afoot. But...

Soo good
myheartbeatsforjesus1 February 2021
Now this is a good episode and we finally have Alicia where she belongs, having the evolution and screen time she deserves. I've been waiting for her to be a main character again, hope Alycia Debnam-Carey gets what she deserves in this show. Good for Alexa too, I love her characters working together. The episode is perfectly set and they have managed to take it in the right way.

Look, there was nothing wrong with this episode. It was great... but the reviewers hyped this up in all the wrong ways. The Morgan and Alicia hug was good but seriously... what a bunch of trolls those reviewers were, they are teasing that there is a reference or a hint of Madison returning in this episode and all we got was a name drop of the stadium from S4. What.

good episode but still far from its best
ejarvis-6575711 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The season so far has been steady. A leap from the last two seasons for sure but nonetheless I still cannot deal with Morgan coming out of nowhere at the end of every episode to to save the damsel in distress! Once, ok, twice ffs, three times oh for the love of god! Please! Go away. A better season doesn't make me like his character any more. I firmly believe the only reason this year has proved superior is because every episode is character centric, less Morgan. With that said fear has a mountain to climb before it can get back to its season 3 brilliance.

What was the point of all that? I'd like to think it was going somewhere but I think we all know better. It never does.

Good actors wasted on bad material, yet again. The best writers on the show are locked into creating fake reviews, I say good but they're no that good cos they fail to hide their complicity very well. They know too many nothing names and note things like camera angles. We're not watching the same show. The 10/10 guys aren't watching. They're writing from a cheat sheet of name drops and bullet points. That torture is saved for us. There was nothing good happening this week. They know. We know it. We wish it was better. How can you mess up a set up like this over and over. Seems like it's staffed by community theatre job opportunities applicants.

Storyline: Strand leads a convoy of rangers to escort Dakota to a safe house. Dakota asks Strand when he's planning to rebel against Virginia and points out that Virginia is in a vulnerable position. Strand feigns ignorance of any insurgent plots.

The convoy encounters dead bodies on the road. Strand and Samuels ride ahead to investigate.

Strand and Samuels discover a tree blocking the road. Riderless horses from the convoy gallop toward them. They race back to the convoy and find the rangers dead. Dakota is gone. They gun down the rangers as they turn.

Alicia and Charlie man a remote watch tower. Strand repeatedly radios Alicia but she refuses to answer, still upset by Strand's parting words at the molasses plant. Charlie convinces Alicia to respond. Strand asks to meet Alicia in person.

Strand meets Alicia and Charlie on the road and asks Alicia to find Dakota, since Dakota looks up to her. He says that if he delivers Dakota safely, he will be well-situated to mount a rebellion against Virginia. Alicia agrees.

Alicia and Charlie track Dakota through the woods. Alicia reveals that she wants to ally with the group that attacked the convoy and Tank Town. They kill some walkers and notice grotesque stitching on the bodies. They spot a hunting lodge in the distance. Alicia tells Charlie to stay behind while she goes inside to look for Dakota.

Alicia enters the lodge and finds a man performing taxidermy work on a walker. The man finds Alicia and injects her with a tranquilizer.

Alicia wakes up strapped to the man's workshop table. She cuts her bonds and tries to escape. Dakota and the man, Ed, enter the room. Dakota says that Ed helped her in the woods and explains that she did not see who attacked the convoy.

Ed plays chess with Dakota and says that his wife and daughter are dead. Dakota mentions that Virginia killed her parents. Alicia suggests they leave but Dakota refuses to go anywhere. Alicia goes to get a blanket and finds Charlie hiding in the hallway. Charlie says that Ed boarded up the house after he found Alicia. Alicia tells Charlie to stay hidden.

Ed and Dakota find Alicia searching for a weapon in Ed's workshop. Alicia demands to know why he locked up the house. Ed insists he's just trying to keep Dakota safe. Alicia reveals that Dakota is Virginia's sister and that Virginia will come looking for her. Ed agrees to let them leave at dawn. Alicia privately tells Dakota that Ed probably attacked the convoy and plans to kill them. She agrees to find a place where Dakota can escape Virginia.

Alicia secretly radios Virginia and informs her that she found Dakota after the convoy was attacked. She offers to deliver Dakota to the safe house on the condition that Virginia release her and Charlie. Virginia agrees.

Ed blares music to attract a herd to the lodge and make it a safe haven for Alicia and Dakota. He explains that Virginia's rangers killed his family while he was on a supply run and that he created the walker monsters to scare people away. He leads them upstairs at gunpoint.

Alicia and Dakota wait in a locked bedroom. Charlie unlocks the door and says that she stole the keys after tranquilizing Ed.

Alicia, Dakota and Charlie turn off the music. The herd begins to dissipate. Ed wakes up and accuses Alicia of secretly contacting Virginia. Alicia fights Ed and he gets impaled by an antler. The herd hears the commotion and returns to the lodge.

Alicia tries to help Ed. He urges them to flee and implores Alicia to abandon whatever deal she had made with Virginia. He admits that Virginia didn't kill his family. Instead, they were killed when one of his walker creations got loose in the house.

The walkers break down the door. Dakota and Alicia watch in horror as Ed offers himself up to the walkers.

Charlie pries wood off a boarded window as walkers flood into the house. The walkers hear a noise outside and follow it. Morgan appears and helps Alicia slay the walkers. Alicia hugs Morgan.

Morgan invites Alicia, Charlie and Dakota to join him at a community that he's been building. He says that Al and Dwight are already there.

Alicia admits to Charlie that she made a deal with Virginia to deliver Dakota in exchange for their freedom. She reveals her plan to take Charlie back to the stadium. Charlie refuses to turn Dakota in to Virginia.

Alicia asks Morgan if Dakota can join his community, then realizes that Morgan attacked the convoy in order to use Dakota as leverage. Morgan insists there's no other way to save their friends from Virginia but changes his mind when Alicia starts to walk out. He invites Dakota to join his community.

Strand finds Alicia's group at the lodge and tells Alicia he's taking Dakota back to Lawton. Alicia and Morgan declare that Dakota is coming with them. Morgan invites Strand to join them but Strand warns that Virginia will pursue them for the rest of their lives. Everyone draws their weapons. Strand stands down but says he'll no longer be able to protect Alicia.

Back in Lawton, Strand tells Virginia that Dakota is with Alicia, Charlie and Morgan. He declares allegiance to Virginia.

Virginia takes Strand to a secret room. Grace sits on a bed, still pregnant. Virginia tells Strand that she wants to hunt down everyone from his group.

S6.E7 - Pretty Damn Good [8.2/10]
panagiotis19939 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S6. E7) My Reaction / Review for Fear The Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 7 ''Damage from the Inside'': Episode 6 was good and I gave it a rating of 7.5/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. No Al, no John, no Dwight, no Luciana, no Daniel and no June in this episode? That sucks. John been missing for a week? So he did it? He actually left? Someone killed Virginia's men and took her sister? Interesting. It was really easy for Alicia to find Dakota. I don't understand yet if this dude they met is a psycho or a good guy. Ok he is a psycho, confirmed. Cant wait to see the place Morgan is talking about. Morgan was the one who killed Virginia's rangers? That's brutal, I didn't expect that from Morgan. Morgan and Alicia vs Victor? Damn. Overall a pretty damn good episode, my rating is 8.2/10.

"Damage from the Inside," refers not only to the physical damage caused by the undead but also to the emotional and psychological damage that the characters carry with them
fernandoschiavi26 April 2024
A convoy of rangers escorting Dakota to a safe house are attacked and killed, leaving Strand and another ranger named Samuels as the only survivors. Strand enlists the help of Alicia and Charlie to find Dakota, whom they locate at an old hunting lodge occupied by a taxidermist named Ed. Alicia contacts Virginia and offers to trade Dakota for their freedom, intending to retake the stadium they previously lived at, but Ed snaps, draws the walkers in and refuses to let them leave.

During a scuffle, he is accidentally impaled on antlers by Alicia and sacrifices himself to the approaching walkers, telling Alicia that his family's deaths were his fault and to not make his mistakes. Morgan shows up and helps Alicia put down the walkers, but he intends to trade Dakota for the rest of their people, leading to an argument when Alicia realizes that Morgan attacked the convoy. Morgan agrees to take Dakota with them to the community he is building, but Strand refuses to join and remains with the Pioneers. Virginia leads Strand to a visibly-pregnant Grace, who tells him that she wants him to get everybody back that Virginia took from Humbug's Gulch.

In the seventh episode of "Fear the Walking Dead" Season 6, titled "Damage from the Inside," the series delves into the aftermath of June's decision to leave Virginia's community and the repercussions it has on both her and the survivors. The episode explores themes of grief, redemption, and the lengths people will go to protect those they love. It also sheds light on the inner workings of Virginia's community and the growing unrest among its members.

The episode picks up with June struggling to survive on her own after leaving Virginia's group. Her journey is fraught with danger, both from the outside world and from within herself as she grapples with guilt over the death of John. Meanwhile, back at the community, tensions rise as Virginia tries to maintain control and prevent further unrest. This sets the stage for a confrontation that will test the limits of loyalty and trust.

One of the most impactful scenes in the episode is June's emotional breakdown as she struggles to come to terms with her grief and guilt. This raw and vulnerable moment showcases Jenna Elfman's acting prowess and adds depth to June's character. The episode also explores the complexities of Virginia's leadership, highlighting her ruthlessness and manipulation tactics as she tries to keep her community together.

As the episode unfolds, it becomes clear that the title, "Damage from the Inside," refers not only to the physical damage caused by the undead but also to the emotional and psychological damage that the characters carry with them. It serves as a reminder that in this post-apocalyptic world, the greatest threats often come from within.
