With the release of Disney's live-action remake of Aladdin just around the corner, we're excited to see every detail of the new Agrabah. Aside from Will Smith as the Genie, most of the main cast is made up of relative newcomers for whom this is their first big blockbuster role. Naomi Scott, the British actress who plays the brave, strong-willed Princess Jasmine, is no stranger to the big screen, but this is definitely her biggest role to date.
In a sense, Aladdin is bringing Scott's career full circle. The actress got her first screen credits a decade ago with a couple of Disney-branded projects. In 2009, she costarred as "Megan" in Life Bites, a British-produced sketch comedy show that lasted for two seasons. From there, she moved over into mainstream Disney Channel with a role in the 2011 TV movie Lemonade Mouth and an accompanying short, Lemonade Mouth: Somebody.

• Helena Bonham Carter will play the part of the fairy godmother in Kenneth Branagh’s live-action adaptation of Cinderella. According to reports, this is a slight re-imagining of the classic character and will find Bonham Carter in disguise as a beggar at first. In the oh-too-predictable version of the world, Bonham Carter would have been the wicked stepmother, and Cate Blanchett would have been the fairy godmother. Whether it’s Branagh, Disney, or the actresses (especially Bonham Carter) looking to branch out a little, we’re pleasantly surprised by the news. The project is set to begin its shoot this fall in London.

Actors Jeremy Irvine and Emily Watson discuss their roles in Steven Spielberg's War Horse.
Jeremy Irvine, the young star of Steven Spielberg's War Horse, has managed to make a distinct impression on Hollywood in a relatively short time. The 21-year-old studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art before landing a role on TV's "Life Bites," which led to his casting as Albert Narracott in Spielberg's latest. He recently completed filming Now is Good (with Dakota Fanning) and Great Expectations (with Ralph Fiennes and Helena Bonham Carter). Here, he discusses his experiences filming War Horse.
Q: War Horse is your first film. That’s an incredible way to start…
Irvine: I’m just proud to be a part of it. Just to have lines in a movie, any movie, is ridiculous and to be in a Steven Spielberg movie is beyond my wildest dreams. It’s something I never even contemplated.

Just before Steven Spielberg took a chance on Jeremy Irvine to star in "War Horse," Jeremy Irvine was appearing in the chorus of the Royal Shakespeare Company, as a tree. Despite his lack of feature-film experience, Irvine impressed Spielberg during auditions for this epic adaptation of both a bestselling children's book and an award-winning Broadway show. The film depicts a boy (played by Irvine) and his horse inexorably transformed by World War I. Now that he's been anointed by the legendary director, Irvine's starring role promises to change his life as well.

No, that's not a photo from another Jane Austen or Emily Bronte or even a Charlotte Bronte adaptation. It's a photo of Jeremy Irvine as Pip in Mike Newell's adaptation of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations courtesy of Empire. If you're wondering just who this kid is, you'll know him soon enough as he stars in Steven Spielberg's War Horse due out this Christmas. He has recently landed a role playing a young Colin Firth in The Railway Man for director Jonathan Teplitzky. Prior to Spielberg's film, however, he was unknown to the world of feature films having only starred in one season of "Life Bites" for the Disney Channel in the UK. Great Expectations could end up being the second big break for the young actor as he steps into the lead role in this latest adaptation of Dickenss book dramatizing the story of Pip (Irvine), a...

Sky have announced that the much-anticipated Terra Nova, from director Steven Spielberg, Peter Chernin, Brannon Braga, René Echevarria and Aaron Kaplan, will launch with a two hour special on Sky 1 HD this October, within days of its Us launch.
The series follows an ordinary family on an incredible journey back in time to prehistoric Earth as a small part of a daring experiment to save the human race. In the year 2149, the world is dying. The planet is overdeveloped and overcrowded, with the majority of plant and animal life extinct. The future of mankind is in doubt, and its only hope for survival is in the distant past. When scientists unexpectedly discovered a fracture in time that made it possible to construct a portal into primeval history, the bold notion was born to resettle humanity in the past – a second chance to rebuild civilization and get it right this time.

At this year's Comic-Con, Steven Spielberg revealed that he had a story and writer for Jurassic Park 4 and expected to make it in the next two or three years.
Can't wait that long for some Spielberg dinosaur action? Then you're in luck, as Terra Nova is on its way to the small screen. With the legendary filmmaker among its executive producers, it will debut in the USA on Fox on September 26 and in the UK on Sky1 sometime this autumn.
The series - looking like a sort of cross between Jurassic Park, Primeval and Lost - opens on a dying Earth in 2149 when, in an attempt to save the human race, people are being sent through a fracture in time to form new colonies. They end up 85million years in the past, in a tropical paradise that also happens to be home to dinosaurs.

Rising young British actor Jeremy Irvine ("War Horse," "Life Bites") is in negotiations to play the lead character in Mike Newell's adaptation of the classic Dickens novel "Great Expectations" at Number 9 Films reports Variety.
The story follows the orphan Pip, writing about his life and attempting to become a gentleman along the way with the help of an unknown benefactor. Helena Bonham Carter is also in talks to play Miss Havisham.
Rowan Joffe looks to have come onboard to adapt the script, previously David Nicholls ("One Day") penned a draft which made the 2009 Brit List. Shooting kicks off this fall ahead of a 2012 release.

The series stars Jason O’Mara (Life on Mars) as the patriarch of a 22nd century family sent back in time to live in a prehistoric colony called Terra Nova.
The show has had a bad run of luck lately. In August, Fox pushed the release date back to 2011, with plans to air a two-night preview event on May 23 and 24 before the shows official premiere in the fall. Now it appears we won't be able to see the show at all until fall 2011.
According to TVOvermind.com, special effects are to blame for the delay:

[1] It's been a rough several months for Terra Nova, the highly anticipated Steven Spielberg-produced Fox series, and it looks like we're not quite out of the woods yet. In August, the network pushed [2] the release date back to 2011, with plans to air a two-night preview event on May 23 and 24 before giving the show a regular premiere in the fall -- similar to what the network did with Glee. Now, plans for the May preview have been scrapped, and we won't be seeing the series at all until this fall.

Steven Spielberg’s Terra Nova has been experiencing a seemingly uneven pace in the show’s development thus far. The sci-fi, time-traveling series was originally to be featured at Comic-Con, but that presentation was canceled and the show launch date was delayed to the fall of 2011 in order to give it an “unique launch to distinguish that the show is unlike any other.” The show also lost David Fury from the producer team, but Brannon Braga held his position as showrunner.
What’s the news for the series now? The show has recently secured actors for a few key roles to complete its ensemble cast and now has had to suffer lay-offs in the writing staff. 20th Century Fox Television was forced to lay off most of the writing staff, including Chris Brancato (X-Files), to cut expenses back due to the change in scheduling of the show’s launch. We’ve been hearing names for Steven Spielberg’s next film, War Horse, for weeks now but Empire has revealed a complete cast list, and most of them are relatively unknown.
Leading the Wwi drama is Jeremy Irvine, a British theatre actor and regular on the UK series “Life Bites,” but a newcomer to the world of features. Irvine joins a long list of young talent discovered by Spielberg, including Christian Bale, Drew Barrymore, and Joseph Mazzello, who starred in Jurassic Park as a child but recently delivered an impressive portrayal in “The Pacific.”
Irvine will play Albert, the young owner of the horse before the animal is sold to the British army during the war. Emily Watson and Peter Mullan will play Albert’s mother and father. Niels Arestrup (A Prophet) is set as the grandfather of a young French girl (Celine Buckens) who takes in the Awol horse.

There were some early cast reports concerning Steven Spielberg's next film, War Horse, based on Michael Morpurgo's novel of the same name, and it would appear the reports were half-right as upcoming Thor villain, Tom Hiddleston, is in talks to join the cast. As for the rest of the names, there are plenty you should recognize though the lead actor is pretty much a complete unknown.
Empire delivers the casting report announcing Jeremy Irvine (pictured) will play the lead role of Albert. The film is set against the backdrop of World War I, and follows the extraordinary friendship between Albert and his horse, Joey. The two are separated but their fates continue to intertwine over the course of Wwi as Joey is sold into the British army and sent off to serve on the battlefields of France. Last Thursday, reports turned up online indicating that Steven Spielberg had cast actor Eddie Redmayne in the lead role in his screen adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's Ya novel War Horse. Not so fast, says Empire Online, who landed the exclusive on the film's full cast list. Lo and behold, there's no Eddie Redmayne listed at all.
Instead, the role of Albert -- the young man who heads to Europe to save his beloved horse, who's been taken for cavalry use during World War I -- will be played by Jeremy Irvine. Irvine's a relative newcomer who previously appeared on Life Bites, a British sketch comedy that airs on Disney UK.

Despite being widely reported last week that Eddie Redmayne had won the lead role in Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse, the full casting list is now out and Redmayne is not on it. Instead, the lead role of Albert has gone to Jeremy Irvine. If you hadn’t heard of Redmayne, than you probably haven’t heard of Irvine. The young actor has worked primarily in theater, including both the National Youth Theatre and the RSC. He has just one screen credit, on one of Britain’s many series, sagely titled Life Bites.

Although we've heard a few rumors in the last few weeks about actors lined up for Steven Spielberg's next movie, War Horse, a fully finalized cast (of at least 14 actors) has finally been announced today on Empire. The lead role of Albert, the owner/friend of the titular horse, which was thought to be a lock for actor Eddie Redmayne, will actually be played by young British actor Jeremy Irvine, of only a UK TV show called "Life Bites" previously, but he's starred in shows at the National Youth Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company. Tom Hiddleston, as announced last week, is also officially in. So who else has Spielberg cast in War Horse? In addition to Irvine & Hiddleston, the War Horse cast includes: Emily Watson (Equilibrium, Synecdoche New York) and Peter Mullan (Trainspotting, Children of Men, Red Riding) as Albert's parents; David Thewlis (Remus in Harry Potter, The Boy...
