Got me...

As a 36 year old self described BA war veteran, this episode me all teared and choked up. Sitting with my near 3 year old daughter watching this episode had me mesmerized, inspired, and laughing. My daughter was beside herself laughing at the kicking of their dad in there sleep. And yes, the sun scene at the end sealed the deal.

Extremely underrated and under-appreciated work of art

Warning: Spoilers
This masterpiece silently explains its emotions through the symbolism and music in every frame. If this was a Pixar short film it would be internationally viral because of the exposure.

Making the dad Jupiter was brilliant. Jupiter is part of why earth is habitable. It's massive gravity pulls long-period comets coming from outside our solar system away from earth.

I'll be sharing this short with everyone I know.

Simply Magical

I literally created an account just so that I could review this one episode. It's what all TV should be aspire to - not just kid's TV shows. This needs to win every award out there. We now watch it with our 3 year old and 1 year old every night before bed. Drop a tear every night. Simply the best.

Perfection

If I could rate higher I would. This episode is a masterpiece of animation. A sheer delight for both young and not so young. The very relatable ups and downs of sleepytime (and not so sleepytime), that any parent can relate to, or even recall from ones own childhood. The beauty of sweetdreams, the charming metaphors and the hero of this episode...the music! I get chills every time I hear it. If no other episode can win you over, it has to be this one.

Warning: Spoilers
It's a privilege and honor to review one of the best, perhaps the best, Bluey episode ever. Could Sleepytime be the greatest of all time? It's no wonder the New York Times selected this as one of the best 50 across all TV series for 2020. The music score was spot on: Bringer of Jollity. Who would have thought that I (and scores of viewers) would be balling at the relationship between Bingo and Floppy, all in an amazing technicolor dream!

The best episode so far
vivish_8530 May 2021
It's amazing how this show can make you cry and laugh so much in just one episode, this particular episode is so relatable to parents and how much we struggle with sleep time, every little part of this episode was amazing.

A masterwork of children's television
padman6411 November 2020
Put simply, this is gold. So many metaphors and symbols, abstract concepts and little sub plots delivered with gorgeous animation and wonderful music. World class, it deserves all the awards!

And, yes. It may have coaxed out a couple of tears.

Best 10 minute cartoon ever?

This episode is perfection. If this can't win awards, then I don't know what the point of the awards is.

Episode is fine, but is it a masterpiece?
keeneue13 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Why is this so highly rated?? It doesn't have a story. It's just a sleepwalking child who dreams about space and kicks her father in the crotch. Yet this still surpasses Onesies, it surpasses Cricket, it surpasses Dragon in rating. And when I checked the user reviews? Nothing but 10 stars, every single one. Maybe it's because I'm not a grown adult or a young child, but I really don't understand how an episode like this can affect people to such an extreme. I didn't understand this episode at all, and I admit that it may be my fault that I don't, but the story isn't really that deep, emotionally or logically. Sorry, Bluey fans, on this one.

(EDIT: This further convinces me that Bluey adults are worse than Disney adults. 3 out of 53 found helpful at the time of editing... 50 people who waste their time on getting hurt over a bad review on a "masterpiece" like this? Well, fine, I'll elaborate, for the few people who genuinely read my review and didn't immediately click thumbs down at the sight of my review. Spoilers ahead, I'm at least decent enough to add a warning.

On its own, this isn't really the worst kids show episode I've ever watched. The animation's fine. Story is bland in an attempt to be relatable for kids, but that's okay because it's made for kids, not adults. I've watched nearly every Bluey episode and so I know what I'm putting this episode up against. And so, that means that I know enough about Bluey to say that this is not the masterpiece of an episode it's made out to be.

The basic concept is that the little sister Bingo is having trouble sleeping in her own bed; normal for children her age, adds to relatability for young viewers. This particular night, when the episode takes place, Bingo tells her mom that she wants to stay in her own bed (do a "big girl sleep") as she sleeps. She holds a rabbit stuffie whose name I forgot and dreams about going on space adventures with the thing.

The dream appears to represent her real-life sleepwalking as she is roaming around the house in reality while travelling between planets in her space dream, accompanied by her rabbit stuffie who has seemingly become an anthropomorphic, sentient being. Already has Bingo failed her goal of staying in her own bed the whole night, but she doesn't know that. This part will get children and maybe some adults to laugh, at moments such as the two children Bluey and Bingo joining each other in the dream to, well, kick their father in the crotch. So I have to give the episode that, as it's pretty cute and sometimes funny. Not exactly my sense of humour.

My memory of the order in which events in this episode happen is somewhat foggy here. At some point the bunny finds a planet, full with other bunnies that look just like it. It appears that this is the bunny planet where Bingo's friend comes from. Now they have to part, because the episode needs some kind of sad part. Kids might cry at this. Adults might too, from what I've seen. Bingo has to travel alone now, and she's obviously sad and cold. Then, she finds what I remember to be some kind of space skateboard and travels to a place right against the Sun so she's warm again, and then the Sun starts telling her that it loves her. And apparently this represents her mother who tucks her into bed again and the episode ends.

The only remotely sad part of this, really, is when Bingo has to leave the bunny thing, and that's more sad for kids who don't understand loss than parents and adults who know it like the back of their hands. And interestingly, that's how most of Bluey is formatted. An introduction, the funny parts, the sad part, and then the resolution. This episode is like every other Bluey episode there is. If you reviewers call this a masterpiece, isn't the rest of Bluey one too? Why is this an exception? It's the same. Every single time, it's the same format. And for kids, that's fine, but this episode is far from special. The story is only slightly unique because of the space theme. But episodes like Onesies should appeal more to adults, not this. This is an episode made for kids. Some are leaning more to resonate with adults, this one is not.

Not the Greatest Thing Ever, but Good for Kids.
BabyDexter444410 March 2024
I had to watch this episode with my little cousin, and while I do think that Bluey is a good show for kids, this episode was so boring. So Bluey's sister Bingo has dreams or something, and she's sad about her stuffed toy or something, yeah. I will admit while the animation is pretty good for a kids TV show nowadays (it's much better than say Cocomellon or Little Baby Bum, which NGL, That Name is pretty Cringe), this episode wasn't a masterpiece, it's a good episode for kids, but I don't get why adults are praising it like it's a masterclass in animation, it's not. I think kids will enjoy it still.

One of the best episodes of television I have ever seen. Warm, funny, sad and uplifting, this put me through the wringer. I've been a blubbering mess more than once watching this, and with it being on constant rotation on my tv cos of my kids, it's been a lot.

Amazing episode from one of the best shows on TV. Regardless if it's a kids show.

Amazing episode where we get some depth with Bingo. Not just a show about Bluey but the whole family. Any parent knows the battle of the beds some nights and this was the perfect representation of that!

Perfect rollercoaster of emotions in just 10 minutes
sammyfinlay-4753722 December 2021
My family are huge fans of Bluey; myself, my partner and our 3 year old daughter - but this episode is next level. It's beautifully put together from the script to the music to the cinematic elements. It deserves an Oscar in my opinion.

We started the episode laughing our heads off and ended it cradling our daughter like a new born with tears streaming down our faces. Even my partner, who very rarely sheds a tear, was an emotional wreck.

Even if you're not a fan of Bluey in general, please give this a watch. I would go as far as to say it's my favourite cartoon episode of all time.

Although Bluey is generally wonderful this episode was so beautiful I just cried. It should come with a warning for the chronically sentimental.

This is creatively one of the most adventurous episodes of Bluey. Makes me tear up every time! It was one of the first episodes we ever really sat down and watched as a family. For reasons that would contain spoilers, it really touches my mama heart.

A magnificent work
Sir_Garfello11 January 2022
This episode is the greatest of an amazing series already. The kind of artistic shots we see in glimpses throughout the series we see for almost the entirety of the episode, every frame is stellar. The story is powerfully warm and sad. The cutaways out of the dream are perfect to direct whats happening in Bingo's head and give a small joke, but they are few enough that it doesnt take away from the beaury of Bingo's dream. The music as always is enchanting, and takes a primary role here as the dialogue is very limited. Truly an awesome episode and an epic adventure.

This one's for moms

The story paired with then Holst's Jupiter theme is just....perfection. It reimagines a bittersweet milestone that all children and parents go through...and as usual, the creators of Bluey executed it beautifully.

My favorite episode of Bluey thus far
samuelmiller7811 January 2022
Everything about this episode is moving, thoughtful and grand. Each scene perfectly compliments the music (one of my favorite hymns) and the few words that are spoken in this 7 minute episode gives me feels. The symbolism is powerful and the little Easter eggs and details makes you want to rewatch. I've watched all the Bluey episodes but this one just hits differently. I always stop whatever I'm doing when this episode is played on our family tv.

jaeden-0058811 January 2022
The show in general is fantastic but this episode in particular is simply beautiful. The story, art, music and emotion is punching well above its weight for a 7minute kids TV show.

It's enough to make a grown man cry watching with my daughter! Somehow this episode needs more recognition if it hasn't had it.
