Ken Jennings was a Jeopardy! champion before he started hosting the show. This might explain why he is getting frustrated lately with some of the contestant’s guesses on the show. This was evident in a recent episode where one contestant went home with $0 and another lost in Final Jeopardy! by dropping below $1,000.
However, there was another episode where multiple triple stumpers caused him to show great disappointment.
Jeopardy! Contestants Struggling More Often Lately
Ken Jennings isn’t the only person to watch in shock as more contestants don’t know the answer to the board’s clues lately. Many viewers watch from home and don’t understand how the contestants are missing what is said to be “easy” clues.
Jeopardy! posted some triple stumpers to its Instagram page. This is a case where none of the contestants know the answer. What is amazing is that some of these are rather easy clues,...

"Star Wars" has always been a fairy tale at its core. The phrase "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away" conjures visions of mythic adventures and imaginative settings as much as "Once upon a time" does. Yet, no entries in the franchise have held truer to this ethos than, arguably, the infamous live-action Ewok movies (and if you're surprised to hear me say that, then you clearly haven't looked at my author page before).
Now relegated to the non-canon sectors of the "Star Wars" universe, 1984's "Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure" (originally released as "The Ewok Adventure") was a made-for-tv movie following the cuddly murder teddy bears of the forest moon of Endor as they set out to reunite two young humans with their parents. Despite its limited budget, "An Ewok Adventure" is often just as visually accomplished as other theatrical '80s fantasy features thanks...

Dee Bryant jams on the gas as her Mustang rockets forward toward a line of plastic bollards at the Irwindale Speedway. Suddenly, she takes her foot off the gas. The growling car whips around 180 degrees in a perfect arc.
Veteran stuntwoman Bryant is a top driver and a rare Black woman rising through the ranks. She has doubled for Angela Bassett, Kerry Washington, and Regina King, among many others. She’s here demonstrating the prowess of the Mustang as the iconic car turns 60.

"You've got this in your flat right now?" Now what do we have here? There's a new indie horror sci-fi film from the UK premiering at FrightFest in London later this month called Hostile Dimensions and it seems like it's worth a watch. This is yet another mix of horror and multiverse storytelling, similar to the other indie sci-fi horror Doors film from last year. In Hostile Dimensions: two documentary filmmakers traverse alternate dimensions, confronting nightmares to uncover the truth behind a graffiti artist's disappearance who seems to have vanished right into thin air. These dimensions mix the ordinary with the bizarre - whales floating across the skies throw a hilly idyll off kilter. Graham Hughes describes his forth feature as a "tribute to highly imaginative low-budget films combining found footage with epic sci-fi to create something unique and thrilling." Starring Graham Hughes, Stephen Beavis, Annabel Logan, and Andy Stewart.

A revolution is working through Latin American filmmaking. It’s powered by new gen cineastes, educated at top film schools, very often women, who are questioning pretty much everything everywhere all at once, re-representing themselves and questioning what can make up a movie these days.
Locarno’s Open Doors is a case in point. Five takeaways on this year’s lineup:
Recalibration of a Sense of Self
“Three Bullets,” at Open Doors Projects Hub, is made by Dominican Génesis Valenzuela, an alum of San Sebastian’s prestigious Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, which plumbs the murder of Dominican immigrant Lucrecia Pérez, shot and killed by four neo-Nazis, the same year that Spain celebrated its conquest of Latin America. Valenzuela will come in at the film as she reconstructs her own identity as a “human being/woman/Afro-Caribbean/filmmaker.” “The driving force of this film is the desire for emancipation, both from...

Rolling Stone‘s interview series King for a Day features long-form conversations between senior writer Andy Greene and singers who had the difficult job of fronting major rock bands after the departure of an iconic vocalist. Some of them stayed in their bands for years, while others lasted just a few months. In the end, however, they all found out that replacement singers can themselves be replaced. This edition features former Four Seasons singer Gerry Polci.
By the mid-Seventies, the once-unstoppable Four Seasons seemed like they were heading into oblivion.

Three all new celebrities in disguise took the stage for “DC Superheroes Night” on Wednesday’s “The Masked Singer.” Despite a highly praised performance of “Break on Through” by The Doors, Wolf was named the third-place finisher behind Squirrel and Gargoyle. The beastly performer pulled off his mask to reveal himself as multi-platinum recording artist and two-time Grammy winner Michael Bolton. Panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger all correctly guessed the hit-maker’s unmistakable voice, but there was no helping Ken Jeong, who was adamant the Wolf was Richard Marx.

Penn Badgley was best known for his role as Dan Humphrey on the teen soap "Gossip Girl" before showing off his dark side on the hit Netflix series "You." Believe it or not, Joe wasn't the first edgy character that Badgley was considered for. In fact, the actor almost starred in the acclaimed drama "Breaking Bad" as the meth-cooking sous-chef Jesse Pinkman.
"One [role] I got close on was 'Breaking Bad,'" Badgley revealed in a puppy-filled interview with Buzzfeed Celeb. "It was between me and Aaron Paul. We both [screen]tested, and actually, that was the best television script I'd read up to that point. That was the one that got away."
The first season of "Breaking Bad" was released just one year after "Gossip Girl." The shows both ran for several years and became wildly popular — albeit in very different circles. "Breaking Bad" was a hit with critics, while...

No one is more prepared than Batman. Everyone's favorite billionaire goth boy has backup plans for his backup plans, which include everything from drafting a "How to Kill Your Justice League Buddies for Dummies" guide, to a trusty can of Shark Repellant. In a very literal sense, Bruce Wayne is the DC equivalent of a doomsday prepper, except for the fact that the DC equivalent of doomsday is Doomsday and ... well, we all know how that turned out, don't we? At any rate, it's only fitting that a successful Batman adaptation would be helmed by creatives who took this same kind of reactionary mentality to the filmmaking process.

Following a vibrant 2022 edition in a three-year cycle dedicated to Latin America and the Caribbean which she oversaw in an interim capacity, Zsuzsi Bánkuti has been appointed the new head of Locarno’s Open Doors.
She replaces long-time Open Doors chief Sophie Bourdon, who stepped down earlier this year.
The key to this year’s Open Doors was its inspired choice of a focus on smaller territories in Latin America which are often home to first-class directors – one director this year, Dominican Yanillys Pérez scooped a Discovery Award at the Toronto Festival with her doc-feature “Jeffrey,” for example – but, apart from the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica, lack robust state subsidy systems enabling producers to produce movies easily out of their own countries.
The obvious solution is international co-production. Tailor-made to advance this, Open Doors offers producers and directors networking opportunities and targeted training as well as a showcase for...

Every screenwriter — even a master like Guillermo del Toro — has loads of unproduced scripts and projects they've pitched that never saw the light of day. "Last Night in Soho" co-writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns is no different. One of her rejected pitches, which haunts her to this day, was for an adaptation of the video game "Portal."
Wilson-Cairns' script for a sci-fi thriller called "Aether" made the 2014 Black List of best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood, and while we haven't seen that script make it to film yet, it did open up the door for her to other opportunities. She joined the writer's room of Showtime's...

Over the last month, Splitgate has climbed up the Steam charts and broken nearly all its concurrent player records en-route to becoming one of the most talked-about games of the year. Of course, most conversations about Splitgate currently start with the question “What is Splitgate?”
Well, Splitgate is a free-to-play competitive first-person shooter that combines elements of Halo and Portal. It’s developed by 1047 Games: a studio you’ve probably never heard of before simply because Splitgate is their first project. I’d say that the best way to find out what Splitgate is would be to play it for yourself, but given that the game’s servers have been taking a beating lately, you might be better off doing some outside research.
Why is Splitgate suddenly so popular, though? Well, that’s a much more complicated question, but here are a few reasons why the game has...

Exclusive: Sony Pictures International Productions has acquired worldwide distribution rights to The Calm Beyond, a survivalist thriller that premiered in competition at the 2020 Adelaide Film Festival. This is the feature directorial debut of the late Joshua Wong, the award-winning commercials and shorts director, who tragically lost his battle with cancer in December 2020.
From a story by Wong and Heather Gornall, and a script penned by Gornall, The Calm Beyond stars Kara Wang as Asha, one of the few survivors living in Hong Kong after climate change has devastated the city and left it a dark and dangerous place.
Before his passing, Wong said of The Calm Beyond, “while being a survival film at its core, it’s really about living with trauma and picking up the pieces of a broken life. How do you live after the storms of your life have hit?”

As retail continues to reopen and consumers return to brick-and-mortar stores, “Rick and Morty” will be waiting for them. The Adult Swim animated series, which returns for Season 5 on June 20, has not only been a ratings juggernaut — it has turned into a merchandising machine.

Airing in more than 110 countries and dubbed in 26 languages, the show was basic cable’s No. 1 comedy in 2019 and has won two Emmys for animated program, in 2018 and 2020.

Welcome to the latest edition of our regular crowdfunding feature here on Nerdly – Back This! – where we take a look at some of the cool content taking the crowdfunding route on sites such as Indiegogo and Kickstarter. This time we’re taking a look at 2 different campaigns, one for a comic book based wrestling federation and the other a new horror movie from the people behind The Special.
Championship Wrestling League #1
Championship Wrestling League is a brand new wrestling promotion, except it’s not on your TV or on YouTube, it’s in a comic book. Pretty much combining two of our favourite things (besides movies) that we love here at Nerdly! The Kickstarter campaign, which ends this week, is for the first issue in a five issue arc that will showcase the Cwl roster as well as follow the feud between Cwl Champion King Terrance King and Scotty Sundown...

Photo: ‘Doors’/Epic Pictures A Story In Parts Recent sci-fi release ‘Doors’ from directors Saman Kesh, Jeff Desom, and Dugan O'Neal and starring Josh Peck, Lina Esco, Wilson Bethel, and Kyp Malone is a creatively told story that impresses in some areas and disappoints in others. In ‘Doors’, hundreds of thousands of mystery, alien doors appear unannounced on Earth and it is up to the human-race to uncover the meaning and purpose of them before it is too late. From the team behind the ‘V/H/S’ trilogy, ‘Doors’ structures its film in a similar way dividing itself into four narrative vignettes that all take place after the start of the door crisis. This creative structure is the biggest strength of the film but unfortunately also fuels the film's greatest weaknesses. Science fiction is a genre that allows just about anything to be possible. It deals in both high-brow and low-brow concepts, and the range of methods in telling these stories is about as vast as the stories themselves. In Doors, we see a trio of directors attempting to tell multiple stories surrounding a singular event, and to convey different aspects of this event to the audience.
Directed by Jeff Desom, Saman Kesh, and Dugan O’Neal, Doors takes an interesting concept and maneuvers it in some challenging directions—some work better than others. The general premise is that one day, out of nowhere, hundreds of alien portals appear all over the Earth. We have no idea where these doors come from or why, so naturally, the next step is to begin investigating. Some people are sent through the doors, never to return. Others are sent through and come back, but are driven insane by the experience.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to a brand new month of streaming! Hard to believe it’s already March, but that just means we have a new slate of VOD and Digital releases to look forward to, and the next few weeks are bringing us a lot of cool entertainment to enjoy at home. Shudder’s March release calendar is chock-full of great films that I heartily recommend genre fans check out, Netflix has a few new offerings that are well worth your time, and Arrow is kicking off March on the right foot with the digital debut of Jill Gevargizian’s The Stylist.
And as if all that wasn’t enough, HBO Max is giving us both Zack Snyder’s Justice League and Godzilla vs. Kong this month as well. We also have a ton of indie horror being released on a variety of platforms throughout March, including Come True,...

Mongolian filmmaker Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir’s “Ze” won the top prize at the Locarno Film Festival’s Open Doors co-production forum, which featured eight projects from Southeast Asia and Mongolia looking for international partners.
Purev-Ochir’s feature debut tells the story of the budding relationship between a teenage shaman and a young woman, set in the rough-and-tumble yurt district of the Mongolian capital, Ulaanbaatar. “Ze,” which is produced by Mongolia’s Guru Media and co-produced by France’s Aurora Films, will receive 40,000 Swiss francs in production support from the Open Doors initiative in collaboration with the City of Bellinzona and the Swiss production support fund Visions Sud Est, which is financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (Sdc).
The jury praised “Ze” as “a project so well developed that it’s definitely ready for the next step. A true incoming and fresh author, presenting us a contemporary vision and not stereotypes of her country.
