Another Bad Tie-In Polliuting The NES Library

Captain Planet And The Planeteers was a big deal back when I was a kid. The cartoon may be cheesy, but it was popular enough to have tie-in media like comic books, action figures, and even video games. The NES Captain Planet game sees you going through ten levels. There are two segments, one where you control the Eco-Jet in a shoot-em-up while the second has you controlling Captain Planet to reach the eco villain to be stopped.

Yeah, this is not a good game. Made by Mindscape, this game has the controls mixed up. Here, select is pause, start switches between the five different powers, and A and B do different things depending on the segment you're in (B turns the Eco-Jet and allows Captain Planet to become the selected element, while A is the basic punch/shoot button). Also, the music is not from the TV show, as it's basically generic noise pollution, and chances are you may not be able to get through the first level like I did due to cheap enemy A.I. and the fact that the Eco-Vehicle segments are one hit and you die (Captain Planet has a health meter, but it's in his character sprite, so chances are you won't know how much health you have). This is one game that should never be polluting your video game collection.
