really good ep

As this ep tests the ethics and morality and beliefs of many characters this is a great ep. Fritz vs Pope is really good and Pope gets egg on his face.

The bigger issues that I won't spoil are quite sad and simply make it clear that not every one should be a parent even if they go to great lengths to obtain a child.

Annoying.

This is not a great episode. Some of the regular characters have reactions that are not normal. Notwithstanding the fact that Sergei is a child, it's quickly evident he is a criminal psychopath, destined for much worse behavior in future. Fritz being so sanctimonious - why? Pope acting in a rational manner, especially given the keen competing need for scarce police resources. He apologizes, more than once - why? It would have been a good story, but for that. Instead, it ends up being a very annoying episode.

Disturbing episode
pjbunnell10 February 2024
This episode got under my skin. The writers wanted to make the victim as evil as possible but at the same time they make those responsible as sympathetic as possible. In the middle they turn Chief Johnson into a sociopathic martinet who wants to act as the champion for a budding Ted Bundy. This episode took its eye off the morality. It ends with life as normal between Brenda and Fritz. They just destroyed a family and showed no empathy to what just occured. Poor writing imo and lack of judgement from the producers. There needed to be more empathy shown to the decent people who got so badly letdown by an uncaring system.
