I honestly don't know exactly what this song's all about. All I can truly say is that I love its instrumental, Ian McCulloch's deep voice and how it all makes sense with the gathering of De Freitas, Pattinson and Sergeant. There's power, there's energy and there's love going on as well. "The Cutter" is certainly one of the highest peaks from the great Echo & the Bunnymen and this video, although slightly strange with its junction of band performance and scenes from frozen nature with its snow covered mountains and glacier forms, it is a video with impact, presence, beauty and style, and one that it's hardly ever imitated these days. Curious minds and hearts, the clip was shot in Iceland as did the album art photographs. Oh man, it's a true beauty! What more can I say...enjoy the show and feel the magic of a badass song. 9/10.
