No one seems to be more excited about the opportunities 2021 may bring than Josh Gad. To celebrate the end of a hellish year, Gad partnered with Captain Morgan for an updated retelling of a holiday favorite, lovingly called "'Twas the End of 2020." The retelling hits the highs and lows of 2020, including the shortage of toilet paper, getting to wear sweatpants everywhere, and reuniting with friends over Zoom. "It really does speak to billions of us who, I think, have all had this Twilight Zone experience together," Gad said to Popsugar. "What it calls upon are things that each of us understand to a T, like the crisis of being able to get toilet paper or the idea of putting on the Covid 15."
He continued, "It does such a good job of saying a fond farewell to a year that I don't think many of us...

Josh Gad’s show Reunited Apart has been tearing it up in its own way as it has continued to bring old casts together in order to talk about the movies, what they’ve been doing since then, and how they got suckered into making the movie as well. Realistically this was one of the best things that could happen to any of them no matter what happened on the set since they’ve all been immortalized at this point and will remain that way since the movie was something that knocked it out of the park in a big, big way. Josh Gad has been extremely busy recently, particularly with his YouTube series Reunited Apart - where he brings together famous casts from movies like The Lord of the Rings and Ghostbusters - and the recent release of his film Artemis Fowl. When he's not getting starstruck over actors from his childhood, he's professing his love for his wife, Ida Darvish, on Instagram. The pair first met in 2004, after they were cast as a married couple in the David Ives play All in the Timing, before becoming an actual married couple in 2008. In an interview with i, Josh described their meeting as "one of those things where it was just kismet and we've been together ever since."
The couple have two daughters, Ava, 9, and Isabella, 6, and run a production company called Angry Child. Just like Josh, Ida has a few notable onscreen and voice roles, including multiple characters in the Assassin's Creed video game franchise,...

The role of Gollum in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings really pushed the boundaries of motion capture and spawned a whole subindustry in cinema. The centerpiece of this new wave was Andy Serkis, whose portrayal of Smeagol and many other subsequent revolutionary roles have immortalized his name.
When Jackson, Philippa Boyens, and Fran Walsh were developing their adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s world, mocap was a fairly new technology that, at its best, didn’t do much to suspend the disbelief of moviegoers. That is, of course, until Andy Serkis came along and took our breaths away with his other-worldly performance as Gollum. And to give credit where credit’s due, the VFX team also made sure that the render looked as photorealistic as the technology at the time allowed. The cast of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings reunited online yesterday to talk about all things Tolkien and go behind the production of one of the greatest movie trilogies in the history of cinema.
People all around the world are going through a difficult time right now. To say that this is one of our darkest hours would be an understatement. But even when things seem to be desperate, J.R.R. Tolkien’s concept of “eucatastrophe,” which is a sudden turn of events from bad to good, can help us fight off this darkness. Alas, there are not a whole lot of stories right now that depict this inevitable truth, which is why Josh Gad’s idea to reunite the cast of The Lord of the Rings was as timely as it was needed. Yesterday, the Fellowship of the Ring came together again in Gad’s Reunited Apart YouTube series.

Expect a Splash next week from Josh Gad’s Reunited Apart YouTube series: Cast and producers of the classic 1984 mermaid comedy will get together – remotely – on Tuesday for the third installment of Gad’s reunion series.
Gad just posted a new teaser for the series, confirming what an earlier, briefer, wordless teaser hinted at: A Splash reunion. In the earlier, 11-second wordless teaser posted by Gad on May 20, a mermaid’s tail fin surfaces then sinks back into the sea.
The new teaser, set to the tune of Sam the Sham’s “Wooly Bully,” displays the Splash logo and the date and time of the reunion episode. Though neither teaser names names, the Splash reunion is expected to include director Ron Howard, producer Brian Grazer, and the principal cast. The comedy, of course, starred Tom Hanks, Daryl Hannah and Eugene Levy. (Cast member John Candy died in 1994).
Watch both teasers below.
The comedy, of course, starred Tom Hanks, Daryl Hannah and Eugene Levy. (Cast member John Candy died in 1994).
