It's flown by, loved it.

Rory Harrison is in town, an actor and former friend/rival of Sebastian, he gets caught up in the latest case for the Detective duo, the case of a Mother's concerns over her son's possible criminal activities.

This very good third series ends on a high, it's the perfect mix of fun and drama, they got the mix spot on. Being the finale they brought in a very well known name, Tamzin Outhwaite, and of course she's excellent.

It was a big story for Sebastian, his thirst to tread the boards had been silent for some time, so it was good that they revisited the theme. I was very glad it ended the way it did.

A very good episode from what's been the best series so far. Bring on the next. 8/10

Teach Me, Dear Creature

The finale of series 3. Sebastian misses his acting career when a fellow RADA student is now appearing in Stratford.

Rising star Rory Harrison is the lead in Hamlet and is staying in Sebastian's flat.

Frank and Luella have been contacted by a tiger mum Jessica Duke who thinks her teenage son Charlie might be involved in some kind of criminal activity. She has put her tracker on her son's phone and is concerned about his behaviour.

Jessica has less worries about her daughter who is Oxbridge bound. A model student.

Both kids have private tutoring from a highly regarded centre noted to increase exam grades. The tracking information suggests that Charlie might be having an affair with his tutor.

It is not long before Rory is dragged in to help out. One of the tutor's is a big fan of his. Later both Rory and Sebastian stumble into a dead body. The case revolves around cheating at the centre.

The murder was rather dark and shocking I thought. There was also a hint that Sebastian might be leaving the series after getting an opportunity to tread the boards.

It was a good episode with Sebastian playing a bigger role, some good fun with Rory fighting on the stage with a possible suspect. Then there is PC Deacon making soppy eyes at Sebastian, I think she fancies him.

Loved it

Warning: Spoilers
For the ending alone. Seeing pure joy on Sebastian's face was worth it all!! I'm glad the ending didn't leave us in suspense. Cant wait for the next season to see what shananigans they all get into. This show has really been fun (enthough not all episodes are great). It is a great bit of escapism for me!!! Love the chemistry between all of them.

Bring back Amber Aga

Warning: Spoilers
There appears to be a conspiracy of silence of the conspicuous absence of Amber Aga (DI Marlowe) from season 3 of Shakespeare and Hathaway. Marlowe added a welcome softer edge to Hathaway, and she's sorely missed. Was there some sort of contract dispute or what? Anyway, DS Keeler (Tomos Eames) steps up, but he's been too one dimensional throughout season 3.

Anyway, it's taken me ages to watch this season 3 finale where the focus is mainly on Patrick Walshe McBride (and rightly so and about time!). This is one of my favorite episodes of season 3, and the outdoor scenes reminded me of the time I lived in England, especially in Warwick and Carlisle. Anyway, Tamzin Outhwaite guest stars as a tiger mom, similar to a role she played in the New Tricks episode Love Means Nothing in Tennis.

This was the last episode to be screened before the pandemic, and thankfully Shakespeare and Hathaway returned for season 4 two years later.
