The mystery continues... a little slowly.

DCI Jones is convinced of Sheila's guilt, DS Stan Jones thinks it impossible that she commited the crimes, Jeremy has a strange attitude towards the slaughter of his family.

Enjoyable once again, there are definitely some great positives, Mark Addy is wonderful as Stan, he's charismatic, and to me he' the standout, the story is memorable for many, I'm glad it's been dramatised to remind and tell people about the tragic events. Terrific production values.

On the debit side, Freddy Fox's hair makes him look like a Lego man, I can cope with that, I cannot however cope with that accent, Stephen Graham is one of my top ten favourite actors, but he was totally wrong for this part.

Intriguing. 7/10

Soooooo sloooooooow

Another stagnant episode with the plot moving on at a snail pace. The rural idyllic views detract from the severity of what has actually happened. The fashions, furnishings and vehicles from the era keep those of us of a certain age happy but this is a true story not Ashes To Ashes. I feel the first 2 episodes could quite easily have been slotted into one.

I'm not glued to my seat with this one!

Well this is not at all what I was expecting. At the end of the first episode I thought it would have to pick up pace as I know from looking on the internet this case was complex with lots of different aspects to it and I feel deflated that at the end of episode 2 we are not really any further on in the story. I'm not quite sure if I'll even watch any more I thought I might be gripped but I'm baffled more than anything. The accents are appalling and I had to look up where this happened. It's just too dragged out what has been shown so far could have been covered in one episode easily. I hope it improves but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Fiction

Having watched the first two episodes I now realise the White House Farm drama is more fiction than fact. I seriously have the impression it is playing on people's heart strings rather than uncovering the truth. It's very dragged out which makes it frustrating to watch as well. Then comes along another inconsistency. For instance, a big thing was made of Sheila Caffell's fingernails being perfectly intact. In reality they weren't so it makes the police look incompetent. Ann Eaton was not at the meal with the Bambers the evening the shootings took place so had no idea about that evening. It is well documented that Colin Caffell knew Sheila was unpredictable because of the schizophrenia she suffered from, and his father told police he was worried that Sheila might harm the twins. Police asked Jeremy for consent to burn carpets etc. not the other way round. It just keeps giving a twisted view of the truth. As for the dog being put to sleep! There were actually 2 dogs. They were given to the vet and the farm dog was re-homed quickly but the other dog was old and distressed and kept biting everyone. The vet, not Jeremy Bamber, advised it should be put to sleep. These inaccuracies by ITV are so obviously designed to get as much reaction from the public as possible. As the drama is so inaccurate it comes across as pure fiction and has nothing in common with the real crime.
