Another case where you'll meet some folks who are MUCH more obnoxious and awful than Doc Martin!

Warning: Spoilers
When the show begins, Doc Martin and Louisa are about to share a nice evening together. Unfortunately, Louisa's new neighbors, the Oakwoods, arrive. They are the most god-awful family in the history of television...or perhaps this series. They have a beastly child-- beastly because they NEVER discipline him in any way. They also are jerks. In the course of the episode, the boy vandalizes a long series of cars--and the parents really don't care and 'don't believe in setting limits'! If this isn't enough, the Oakwoods think vaccines are bad (after all, if Jenny McCarthy says they're bad, who cares what medical science and repeated tests indicate)...and their little monster soon is infected with a deadly disease. Unfortunately, the illness is detected and the child is saved. Too bad they didn't have to put down the boy or his parents!!

The episode is interesting because it shows us another example of folks WORSE than Doc Martin when it comes to social skills...believe it or not! The only negative about all this is that it is a bit predictable--and my daughter kept correctly guessing what was coming next.

Horrible Neighbors
Hitchcoc28 January 2018
Several plot elements here, but the most serious focus are some boorish people that in next to Louisa, replacing the elderly lady who moved. The husband is psychologist and his wife is a latter day hippy. At one point she gives a funeral to a badger, burning it on their deck. They have an incorrigible son who is totally out of control. He is destructive and his parents feel he is just expressing himself naturally. At one point he begins to key several cars in town. Joe, the new constable turns out to be agoraphobic. And there is an elderly lady who has a rash and a bad cough. Pauline, by the way, is slipping backward, becoming more and more like her predecessor. Doc and Louisa keep trying to enjoy each other, but Doc is so dense, it's hard.I Knew These People in the Seventies

Another winner but...

...don't use the Doc Martin series as your own source for health advice. Everyone who has come in contact with either the old lady, her cat, or obnoxious child Sam would need to be tested for TB.

Come on Doc

Warning: Spoilers
Surely you must understand that smoking is a horrible addiction and it's hard for a person (especially an elderly one) who has been smoking for many years to just quit cold turkey. But of course the good old doc has no patience for that...lol..Enjoying the show with all its quirks.
