Manipulative danger
uyen-3414824 February 2022
Forget about the annoying accent by Anna and exaggerating facial expressions by the journalist Vivien Kent, this series actually got me hooked. This is a real story and it is happening in real life. Manipulative people (accompanied by paranoia) like Anna exist everywhere, and it scares me. It is not easy to break out once you're tangled under their webs. See for yourself.

Hey Netflix, fire the subtitle creator/proof reader, please.
Nos200111 February 2022
I would have given this episode 9/10 if it weren't for your shoddy subtitle skills.

At around 38 minutes, when Anna and Todd are debating/arguing about defense tactics, the subtitle reads: 'I would rather go to jail forever then come off like some wannabe.'

Surely the no doubt highly paid subtitle creator knows the difference between then and than? It's very simple English grammar. Whilst this may seem like a petty grievance, I'd expect the creator and proof reader to know the difference.

Is it any wonder that so many English speakers (or should I say writers?) also have no idea that 'then' is an adverb, adjective or noun; whilst 'than' is either a preposition or conjunction, and both have completely different meanings.

Considering the size of Netflix's audience, and the possible influence to learning minds of its subtitles, please make more effort to use correct grammar.

Dialogue that works
Faristuta16 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I liked the dialogues in this episode, especially between Anna and her lawyer Todd when they went after each other and their raw feelings were exposed. Anna is a psychotic manipulative person with lack of insight to her own lies and this episodes revealed it more than any other time in the series.

The last scene of Anna talking to Vivian shows how cunning she is. Vivian is very smart but appeared naive to Anna convincing her to visit her in jail. I think Anna just wanted to stay relevant and Vivian was her way of doing so after going to jail.

When Todd was talking to the jury, telling them "we're all liars, we all have a little bit of Anna in us", he was talking to the audience, regardless whether or not you agree with his statement.

I liked this episode a little more than I liked the series which dragged a bit too much IMO.

A Celebration Of Criminality and Victim Blaming
johnconroy-4509625 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
What??? Just what did Netflix think they were doing with this episode.

Everyone seemed to end up celebrating the unpleasant criminal brat and went on to blame the victims, some of whom were not super-rich and able to afford her theft.

Stupid delusional people

Warning: Spoilers
I thought during the whole show that anna is actually pretty dumb person. She was not that smart and is she did things differently she would have actually pulled it off, but i turns out she is smart enough to pick people in her life that she groomed and played them enough to make them lose their minds, families, sensibility and common logic. Kacy (a person i kinda respected early in the show) was actually blaming Rachel for handing Anna to the police was a bad choice because she was a friend!!!

WTF, Anna stopped being a friend the second she stole Rachel's money. Rachel is not that innocent in my mind though but selling her story and choosing to help police find Anna is her best moves.

Second thing is the lawyer and Vivan. No reason for both them to root this bad for Anna especially not Vivian who knew the details of how horribly she used people yet she acts like Anna was wrongfully convicted !!! She was actually rooting for her to win and she was actually happy that Rachel fid not get her 62,000 and she turned Anna to be the absolute victim of that friendship.

Let's not talk about Neff, one of the most delusional stupid people I've watched in TV recently.

Shonda trying to make a scam artist likeable
mithikshamed4 March 2022
I can't believe that they made Anna look like she was innocent and they made her lawyer and the journalist both root for her (the lawyer I get but not the journalist).

Utter trash of a tv show. Shame on you Shonda for trying to make a con artist who scammed so many people as being the victim.

This is why...
kris-1979115 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
When you glorify bad people and don't offer stories with any sense of justice of virtue we end up in a culture without justice or virtue. Anna is in no way a victim but this episode treats her like the victim and the victims as if the deserved it. Con artists know how to manipulate people. They will seem sympathetic. It looks like the cast and crew fell for the con.

Everyone else is to blame
dusadomovine14 February 2022
Typical American BS - everyone else is to blame except the sociopathic scam-artist. Boo-hoo, her father must have been a bad man that abused her. Boo-hoo American society is misogynistic, Boo-hoo she is an immigrant in Trump's America. Everyone it to blame except the criminal. This is so silly.

Director like to have people yell at each other.
itsallthesametome9 March 2022
Unlike the other episodes which centered on interesting situations and engaging dialogue, this episode mostly consists of people insulting and yelling at each other.

Love the show, but this episode is the worst.

Too much
dbuckshnis6 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Todd's character seems to co-dependent on Anna and god that horrible accent - I would have preferred her "Ozark" accent. Acting over the top at times - love the casts of three old timers. Vivian played great other than baby scenes seem unrealistic....

scam artist(s)
liljseinfeld21 September 2022
People were saying that Shonda was making Anna out to be the victim in all of this and they are absolutely right.. She is, in her own warped mind. Along with all of the other woke garbage.. Reason being, Shonda is no different. She's a far left liberal and they are always the victim. As far as the sympathy for the con artist, same thing, she's a con artist too. That's what the entire Democrat party is all about, conning people. Always has been. Anyway, as for the story, it was simply not very good. I have watched a ton of streaming and cable tv series in the last 3 years, and i have to say this was by far the worst i've watched yet.
