Anna Chlumsky!

I am just one episode in so far, but I am already just so thrilled to see that finally, someone, has put Chlumsky into a role that shows her incredible range as an actor. She is excellent in this first episode.

Obviously I can't ignore this introduction to Julia Garner's Anna... she was featured less here but already her shapeshifting accents are building my anticipation for what might come next with this role for her.

This is well casted. 👏🏼👏🏼

Loving all the characters so far. What a wonderful cast! Shonda never disappoints that's for sure! Using the journalists perspective is not what I expected but I like it!

Interesting story

The first episode seemed a bit long to me. It seems to me that some moments could be shortened, because it becomes boring to watch. Sometimes it's hard to perceive what is happening.

Nevertheless, the plot is interesting. Especially considering that the story is based on real events. Character development in the first episode is not going very fast, but perhaps in the next series this will change. The actions will become clearer and the viewing will be even more interesting.

The first episode interested me, and I am sure that I will continue to watch further to find out how it will end in the end.

I love the premise, hate the execution

The series is waaaay too dramatic I wish they approached this series like tinder swindler This was too fake at times And Vivian looks really old.

I like the story though and will continue to watch for that reason.

A start of a long story

I have recently watched the pilot episode of the "Inventing Anna" series and would like to share my opinion.

Firstly, I think that Julia Gerney looks great in Anna Delvey's role. I enjoyed watching her acting and even speaking with some kind of an accent. I also like it how Anna is described and presented in different ways and situations so viewers get to know many of her sides.

But there goes a flaw I have noticed. I think that this episode might be pretty boring for somebody who has never heard of Anna Delvey. In my opinion, a pilot episode should have told some more about the actual story of the main character.

However, it's just the first episode. I can surely recommend this series to anybody, especially to those who are interested in watching investigations of long and complicated stories.

Maybe a little slow, but I love slow with great acting. You've got to take it all in. Sit back and enjoy the show.. I loved the story line. The directing was excellent should have been more appreciated.

Left to watch next episode

The first episode looked boring to me, but I hope it's only because of the beginning of the plot. The episode is far too long, as if the characters are purposely wasting time.

In any case, I wonder how the relationship between the main characters will develop and what gossips about Anna we will hear from her "friends" in high society. It is fascinating to find out how Anna's character will develop, what she will feel and what thoughts will visit her.

Since the series is based on real events, it will be interesting for those who know the whole story of Anna Delvey. The same story, the same people (well, with replaced names), but now we can picture what was happening in New York at that time and did not get into the mass media.

Wow what a boring pilot

Thought this was a movie until I paused and saw that ep1 notice.

As a pilot, this is such a boring episode. I was wondering where the Anna story is and guess they are saving that for the next episode.

The acting is... not so tolerable. Maybe that is the point in making Anna annoying. I also don't care much about the journalist's personal life...

Outstanding con artist

I only watched the first episode and I will post here some thoughts about this series. Firstly, I really want to watch the series to the end and get a general idea, but for now I can say that I like it. I don't consider myself a film critic, so this will just be my opinion.

To begin with, I was very surprised that this is an adaptation of a real story. I also liked both the main characters. Anna is a witty, interesting and mysterious girl. You should understand that if she managed to pull off such a scam, it means that she is really smart. Vivian is not like her, but the most striking feature of her character is purposefulness.

So far, there are quite interesting scenes in the series and the plot is developing rapidly, so at the moment I am happy with everything.

Interesting approach

The series Inventing Anna is simply superb!

The first episode grabbed me from the first seconds. I am very glad that there was good modern music, and there was also good humor. The most important thing is that the series shows us real life without any illusions. In this world, every person needs something, he goes to his goal, but everything has its own price. And I also liked this series with the extraordinary personality of the main character Anna, with an intricate story, which is very interesting to watch. Unusual twists in the plot make you watch the series without looking up from the screen, which captures. It was interesting to watch how some of the main characters lie to each other to achieve their goals, but at the same time, not everyone reasoned far-sightedly and made truly correct conclusions based on the situation. I was also amazed at the perseverance and determination of Vivan Kent, who conducted the interview with Anna. Vivean is very brave and decisive, she was not afraid to tell Anna that they were not friends, that is, she did not pretend to be a false friend, but told Anna directly that both of them would benefit from this situation if Anna did not agree to the deal. I suggest you start watching this.

Garner mesmerizing performance... but surprising lack of sensibilities.

The general strides of the show is a smooth fun ride, but often it's wobbly when the show displays an appalling level of lack of sensibility and mediocre performances. The side characters completely take away from the show.

Honestly this show should've been 100% Garner, hyper-focused biopic like Queen's Gambit. I'm not sure why I spent a episode with the reporter and setting some backstory with mediocre acting surrounding the whole thing. Garner is great but everyone she interacts with (because of bad writing or bad acting) breaks the illusion. I was really hoping for the next Queen's Gambit, but it ended up being meh.

Horrendous and boring first episode

Don't let my headline stop you from watching this miniseries. The story behind this girl is thrilling, but this feels like too much of filler and that may scare some viewers.

Read a resume of the episode, watch like the last 10 minutes and enjoy, because it gets really interesting.

Kinda meh for the pilot

Based on the first episode, it's pretty boring. If you delete all the filling moments that doesn't matter for the story, the episode would be like 20-30 minutes long, but a whole hour for this? It's too much.

The story is ok but as I said before, it's boring to watch. There is no character development, interesting twists and so on. Maybe it's just a pilot and everything gets better in the show later, but the pilot didn't hook me and I don't really want to watch further Also some people say that they like acting in this show, well that's not my case. Most of the actors doesn't really act, and those who does are more annoying than anything.

Considering the material at their disposal, this is a very boring start

I had high hopes for this series, having listened to the BBC's docudrama podcast, which had me captivated a couple of years ago. Anna is one of the most audacious scammers, who becomes a kind of anti hero for many people.

Combine that with the brilliant acting skills of Julia Garner...

...and you get such a treacle slow start with back stories for characters you just don't care about. (Sigh)

I hope it gets better from here, but I'm not holding out much hope.
