1. Earn, Van and Lottie go camping
2. Earn tries to cross a lake
3. Lottie catches a snipe.
This episode was a beautiful and wistful family drama. The ratio of this episode was different from other shows, giving it a touch of nostalgia as if they were looking back at this camping trip through a memory lens. You get a sense that they don't feel like a family even though that's what they seem like from the outside. You can feel Earn's absence because he doesn't seem to know Lottie as well as Van does. This was a groundbreaking moment for Earn and Van because Earn finally admits that Van is who he needs. This conflict has been in the background since the very beginning and they've finally ended up here in comparison to Earn who couldn't even pay child support in season 1. A big character development for all of them and Earn's conversation with Van was honestly heartbreaking. We are so invested in these characters so much and as we head towards the end of the series, we finally see a glimpse of a happy ending.
I love that Atlanta is so versatile - they can pull off some of the greatest comedy but also get down to business when they are portraying an emotional family drama like this one. Fantastic episode!
