Anderson Cooper seemed to be at a loss to describe the new radical concept behind the CNN/YouTube US Presidential Democratic Candidates Debate. First of its kind. What would happen? The internet is involved. The folks at CNN were all in awe. Anderson was struggling for words and seemed to be imitating America's favorite house guest, Kato Kaelin, at the OJ trial. This was going to be special. This was going to be unique. The majesty of it all!
The 2007 CNN/YouTube US Presidential Democratic Candidates Debate was nothing but candidates responding to a series of canned (pre-recorded) questions. There was no direct internet interaction, so this debate format was less interesting than debates with live reporter questions or live audience questions. And yet again, the lawyerly top tier candidates ALL had center stage, while the direct, honest low tier candidates were again ignored in the fringes of the stage.
The best idea of the night was by Sen. Gravel, who said that there is only one thing worse than a soldier in Iraq dying in vain, and that is having more soldiers in Iraq dying in vain.
