One of the highlights about this show during its seven year run has been how they have written Liza. She has made some mistakes, done a lot of things right, but they've never painted her completely as the moral compass yet she's still been the heroine. Credit Sutton Foster for pulling that off. As a result of her work she is able to make the same repetitive Charles and Liza stuff enjoyable even after all of these years.
But the Maggie stuff is just so horrible. There is nothing appealing about the character. She isn't cool or hip and not completely mocking students you refer to as "woke" comes off as really cringeworthy.
Maybe not the worst episode of the season, but the show is lacking a certain presence at this point.
