‘Let Me In’ Gets Official Release Date & Synopsis

21 hours ago | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

As those of you who are sick of seeing news of great foreign language films getting remade will probably be aware of, the brilliant Swedish vampire romance Let The Right One In is in the process of being remade for English speaking audiences (they say it’s a new adaptation of the original book of the same name, but it’s essentially a remake just the same).

This time they’re shortening the title to Let Me In, either because they need to go as far as simplifying the title or it’s easier to fit on the posters (probably both). We get word now via /Film that Overture Films has announced a release date for Let Me In: October 1st, 2010. Also, the studio has revealed the official (and quite lengthy) synopsis for the film that we have below if you’re especially interested.

Let Me In Gets Its Release Date

Following Tracy’s appalling experience with the sublime Let The Right One In further nails in the coffin of the Tomas Alfredson’s haunting adaptation of John Ajvide Lindqvist’s vampire novel appeared today with the announcement of the release date for the Matt Reeves directed remake.

October the 1st is when our American cousins can choose to ignore the wonderful original film and fill the cinemas to catch the retitled remake Let Me In, and while I certainly am not going to damn the movie unseen this news only means one thing to me: If you haven’t seen the original you have just under ten months to seek it out.

In a sea of unnecessary remakes this film will benefit from the buoyancy of a compelling original tale, which could stand any number of remakes, my problem stems from the fact that its critically lauded cousin is so »

Let Me In to Hit Theaters on October 1st

6 January 2010 2:09 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

In 2008 Let the Right One In, a Swedish film about a boy’s friendship with a young girl vampire, was released to critical acclaim and resonated internationally on a greater level than any other Swedish film of the decade.  Likely inspired by the current popularity of vampire-based media such as Twilight and True Blood, an American remake similarly titled Let Me In was commissioned by Overture Films.  The film now has an official release date of October 1, 2010.  Let Me In is directed by Cloverfield’s Matt Reeves, and stars Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloe Moretz, and Richard Jenkins.  For a look at the film’s potential and a full plot synopsis, hit the jump.

I was a bit surprised to see that the film is scheduled for a wide release, if only because the rather subdued tone of the original seemed more suited for arthouse cinemas.  I am curious to see how »

Vampire Remake 'Let Me In' Opening October 1st

6 January 2010 1:08 PM, PST | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

We just found out from Overture Films that Let Me In, the American remake of the fantastic Let the Right One In, will be released on October 1st. Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) is directing the remake, and if you've not seen the original, I urge you to find two hours in the next nine months to check it out.

The film has been shooting in New Mexico since November, which could signal a significant change in the look of the film from its predecessor. Or as I wrote a couple months ago, "By moving it from the dead of winter to possibly another kind of desolation, Reeves invites a new kind of atmosphere to his film, and that can impact everything from cinematography to tone to character."

I don't know that the goal is to improve upon Let the Right One In, which would be hard to do, anyway. But if »
