This Episode Greatly Progresses the Season's story lines
Rcwilkinson12314 December 2007
Lois Lane is forced to try and wrangle the truth out of Lex Luthor when a bomb is on her cousin Chloe in this very revealing episode.

Holiday spirit is in the air at the Daily Planet when Lois receives a call from an anonymous man claiming that Chloe is attached to a bomb, and the only way he won't let it blow is if she reports the truth of Lex's atrocious experiments. Meanwhile, Chloe and Jimmy Olsen are stuck in the elevator with the bomb ticking, prompting Chloe to reveal a secret to Jimmy. Meanwhile, it is believed that Clark has returned from the Fortress of Solitude. Uncharacteristically, he wants to re-open Lana's Isis program of spying on Lex with the intent of taking him down, and wants to become closer to Lana when he has been distancing himself the previous couple of episodes. What is the reason for this uncharacteristic behavior?

This episode reveals so much from story lines following both this season and the second half of last season. The action is very minimal, but the revelations within the story make up for it.

at last lex does something
joh0309628 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Finally, there's something worthing calling Lex a villain over. Cloning your dead brother and murdering one of the failed clones who threatens to expose the cloning secret is something I can get on board with. It's a scheme that's perfect for Lex. It's a somewhat well-intentioned plan, but he's a complete sociopath in the means by which he accomplishes it. Lex could be the best character on this show if they gave more stories like this cloning story. I know, 33.1 and Lana's fake pregnancy were on par with the cloning story. But those stories didn't feel as fleshed out or integral to the rest of the story as this cloning story is already turning out to be.

Unfortunately, it's only the audience and Grant Gabriel, and somewhat Lois, who actually learn about Lex's clone experiments. So I'm still going to be mad every time someone yells at Lex for being evil when they don't have any reason to think he's evil. As far as they know he's reformed! What do they know? They know nothing. But at least I'll know he's evil, and maybe that'll make it better.

Chloe is still upset about her meteor power. That storyline is getting extremely tedious. Her meteor power is the power to HEAL PEOPLE. How could that power possibly corrupt a person? Does she really think she's going to go crazy and dig up Hitler's grave and heal him back to life or something? I would understand Chloe being upset if her meteor power was death-touch like Rogue from X-Men, or fire eyes, or the ability to force people to tell the truth (which she loved, let's not forget) but not mystical healing. Never mystical healing.

And in the last episode Jor-El promised consequences for Clark's constant refusal to take Jor- El's advice. We had to wait until the end of the episode to find out what those "consequences" were. Apparently, the consequence Jor-El had in mind was freezing Clark in ice and unleashing Bizarro Superman. Jor-El's advice is usually solid, but his actions haven't always made a lot of sense. Jor-El doesn't really seem to be all there on this one. What is he hoping this will accomplish?

Poor frozen Clark!
firechief_1019 December 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Wow, this story is multi-focal. Clark returns from his fortress of solitude and gets closer to Lana Lang wanting to help her get or spy network fully up and running on Lex. Lana had decided that Clarke had been correct all along and was wrong for trying to take Lex down, "Clark" convinces her other wise. Mean while Lois is trapped into writing story about Lex and his cloning project, if she doesn't one of Lexs' renegade Clones will blow Chloe up, who is now trapped in a Daily Planet elevator with Jimmy Olsen, who pours his heart out to her and they kiss and make up right before the bomb blows up. Fortunatly "Clark" rushes in and saves the day. Lois on the other hand is knocked unconscious while confronting Lex in her editors office with the clone, Lex and her EDITOR. Who finds out the Clone is an older version of her boyfriend the EDITOR. Lex shoots the clone from a gun that he takes from Lois, the clone had planted the gun in Lois' purse.

This pretty much concludes the action scenes except, that "Clark" flies away...Clark doesn't fly yet, but Bizzaro does. Clark is actually stuck in a block of ice/ Force field in his Fortress of Solitude.

Gemini
Colcatron19 April 2011
Clark, and Kara are all on the side lines in this episode (for the most part), which allows for the show's supporting characters to have their stories move forward. While Chloe, Jimmy, Lois, Grant and Lana's personal stories wouldn't normally be interesting enough to hold an entire episode, especially one that initially aired after a month long break, and would be followed by a month and a half long absence due to the writers strike, this episode surprisingly holds up as one of the strongest of the season. While this many supporting stories could have resulted in this episode being an instant dud, it's saved and driven forward by 2 elements. First, the connecting plot revolving around a bomber in the Daily Planet, and secondly the choice that was made to play this episode out almost entirely in real time. Those two elements make this episode exciting from start to finish, even though it's mostly wall to wall dialogue scenes involving secondary characters.

Elevator Scene
vtactor00722 February 2008
Warning: Spoilers
In the Elevator scene with Chloe and Jimmy some Christmas music can be heard in the elevator, it is an instrumental piece, I couldn't believe it !!!! The piece was from the Album - Christmas Brass performed by The Monterey Brass, an album I listened to so much as a kid that it now looks like someone played Frisbee on pavement with the LP. I'd like to know who at the production team of Smallville picked these songs from that album. This will now go down in history as my favorite episode of Smallville just for that great piece of childhood memories for me. Does anyone else remember having this album growing up? I was able to find another copy at a used record store in perfect shape, and can now enjoy it agin and share it with my kids.

Happy Holidays VTActor007

Great Winter finale, and Christmas special.
m-4782627 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Gemini was gripping and full of Christmas decorations, and revelations. With Lex embracing his god complex, we can now assume he's becoming the vilain « the seer » showed him, in season 1. So far season 7 is not a big improvement from season 6 underwhelming stories. But it seems to be getting there, with all the intrigues and unexpected twists. The show under the CW brand, is still a glorified soap opera, but somehow they managed to make it more appealing. Better soundtrack too. And not make me regret it's the last we'll be seeing of the Lana character, who grew up to become a very manipulative and power hungry young woman. Perfect for Lex, actually. See why they dressed up as Caesar and Cleopatra last season, now? The best part, is the Isis foundation, founded with his money. Because she assumed she was owed a part of the Luthor fortune, for their two minutes of marriage. Lois and Clark can't come soon enough... Chloe and Jimmy are just, boring. And he's killed off next season anyway. As far as bad soap opera goes, we learned on the recap that Kara (the new girl, Supergirl) lost her memory, and we see this episode close on the real Clark, being trapped under a block of ice, in his fortress of Solitude. How quaint...
