When the story begins, Louisa is allowing herself to be pulled into a very unhealthy situation. Her first client is not respecting professional boundaries....and Louisa seems so flattered that the girl likes her that she actually encourages it. Late in the episode this will lead to some terrible complications.
The most interesting plot involves the family dog, Buddy. He's acting very listless and needs to go to the vet. However, the vet is ill and cannot operate on the mutt...and Doc finds himself a surrogate vet and needs to fill in for her. Oh the indignity of it all!
Additional stories in the episode are Janice returning to town for the upcoming wedding...and Penhale is obviously thrown for a loop, Bert and his new boss get locked in the basement and Mrs. Tishell's niece comes to work for her as she finishes her pharmacy degree...with disastrous results.
Overall, a very interesting episode...one that was great simply because the Doc is forced to care for a doggy...something that seems beyond him.
