A good episode and the return of one of the greatest characters.
Barnabas and Julia find Hortense near death in the woods. Julia sends Barnabas for her medical bag at Collinwood. He rushes in and tells Quentin what happened. Julia enters and says Hortense is dead but she told her about a headless body. Quentin rushes out.
Julia tells Samantha about Hortense, she is still determined to take Tad away. But Quentin comes back and stops her.
Quentin tells Barnabas the story of the beheaded warlock Judah Zachery, Barnabas says they must destroy both the body and the head.
Julia reminds Barnabas that since Hortense is dead, that would leave things open for Daphne to become governess. They think if they stop that it will prevent the destruction of Collinwood in 1970.
Julia goes to Daphne and tells her she will be offered the position of Collinwood governess but she should not take it or she will die. Daphne refuses to believe this. Later Quentin comes to Daphne and offers her the job and she accepts.
Later a cloaked figure enters the secret room at the mausoleum. It turns out to be Angelique who vows that she will find Barnabas. This is poignant now because this is the first time I saw Angelique in an episode since Lara Parker's death a few days ago.
