Frank Sinatra shines in a story of police corruption that tries to say it like it is -- or like it was in 1968, just before the ratings system came in. The well-intentioned, suspenseful story is burdened by odd censor choices, Sinatra's conservative self-image, and rudely retrograde attitudes toward gays. In a sparkling new transfer with Jerry Goldsmith's jazzy score isolated on its own track. The Detective Blu-ray Twilight Time Limited Edition 1968 / Color / 2:35 widescreen / 114 min. / Ship Date December 8, 2015 / available through Twilight Time Movies / 29.95 Starring Frank Sinatra, Lee Remick, Ralph Meeker, Jacqueline Bisset, William Windom, Al Freeman Jr., Tony Musante, Lloyd Bochner, Robert Duvall, Horace McMahon Cinematography Joseph F. It's been nearly two months since Amazon debuted the first season of "Transparent," and more than a month since Amazon ordered a second season of the Jill Soloway-created drama. I've been meaning ever since to write a spoiler-filled book-end to my original review, looking over the entire 10-episode first season, but other things kept getting in the way. Better late than never, here are many thoughts on this show's great first season coming up just as soon as you let me know if you see any mustard... It's been so long since I watched the season that my thoughts are more fragmented than they might've been had I written this right after the renewal announcement, though my overall feeling remains the same as in that first review: this was gorgeous, intimate storytelling, among the very best things I watched all year. But let's go straight to the bullet points and bounce around different characters,...

Spoiler alert! If you haven’t watched Suits’ season 4 premiere, stop reading now. Creator Aaron Korsh takes us inside the row between Harvey and Mike, the introduction of multiple new characters, and what’s to come.
Entertainment Weekly: In our walk-up to the premiere, you said the plan wasn’t always to put Mike and Harvey at odds, which they are now that Harvey’s had to side with a client who’s plotting a hostile takeover over of the same company Mike’s investment banking firm has its eyes on.
Aaron Korsh: We always knew Mike would be a client of Harvey’s.

Spoiler alert! If you haven’t watched Suits’ season 3 finale, stop reading now. Creator Aaron Korsh phoned EW to talk about the show-altering twist and what you can expect from season 4, premiering this summer.
Entertainment Weekly: This episode ended with Mike informing Harvey that he’s accepting the investment banker job — and he’s really leaving Pearson Specter. How do you hope fans are feeling?
Aaron Korsh: Surprised. When the idea of Mike getting a job offer was floated to me, I thought to myself, I don’t want to give Mike a job offer unless he’s gonna take it.

"Scandal" had such an insanely intense first season that fans have all been wondering how Shonda Rhimes and Co. will top themselves in Season 2 (premieres Thurs., Oct. 25 at 10 p.m. Et on ABC).
HuffPost TV visited the show's set to talk to "Scandal" stars Kerry Washington, Katie Lowes, Guillermo Diaz, Darby Stanchfield and Columbus Short from the office of Olivia Pope & Associates; their White House pals Tony Goldwyn, Bellamy Young and Jeff Perry; and Josh Malina, who plays Olivia Pope's favorite sparring partner, U.S. Attorney David Rosen.
We've got questions that need answering right off the bat, mainly: Who is Quinn Perkins? Is the First Lady pregnant? And does that mean Olivia and the president are done for good? But how much will actually be answered in Season 2 remains a mystery -- even to those playing it. "You never know," Lowes said with a laugh. "Freaking anything is possible,...

Covert Affairs‘ spy gal Agent Walker is growing up.
“We’ve always thought about Season 3 as Annie’s teenage years,” says executive producer Matt Corman, which means we’re about to see her give in to some adolescent impulses. After all, Corman notes, teenagers tend to “push boundaries… and also act a little bit frisky and maybe act out.”
As Annie tests some limits this go-around (premiering Tuesday at 10/9c on USA Network), she’ll be dealt quite a few new challenges. Below, Corman and fellow Ep Chris Ord preview a loss, a new boss and some heartache ahead for our favorite field op.

I had a chance to screen the first three episodes of Scandal, the new drama from Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes. But, it didn’t take me three episodes to realize that Scandal, starring Kerry Washington, would be one of the more intriguing new series of 2012.
It took me five minutes.
Within the first five-minutes of Scandal’s premiere, viewers are re-introduced to the great dialogue that makes Rhimes such a brilliant showrunner. A simple blind date between Harrison Wright (Columbus Short) and Quinn Rielly (Katie Lowes) turns into a job interview that’s not really a job interview at all. The short segment introduces to the kind of series you’re about to watch, where everything is not as it seems.
Similar to Lie to Me and the presidential segments of 24 (seasons one through five), Scandal is all about introducing several layers of truth. Washington stars as Olivia Pope,...

Cal (Tim Roth) and Gillian (Kelli Williams) are called in after the disappearance of a couple's adopted daughter, Samantha (Madeline Carroll). Peter (Bradford Tatum) and Lorraine (Megan Follows) have offered a reward for info and as usual this brings out all the gold diggers and low lives looking to score a quick buck. There have been plenty of tips on the tipline. Lorraine asks Cal if he has children - as does everyone - wondered how long that question would take to be posed. Cal comes straight out with it and asks if they've killed Samantha, over and over. The parents are genuinely shocked and distressed by this, leading Cal to conclude they didn't. Outside, Cal sends the reporters away by giving them a false lead to the Happy Dragon restaurant. The restaurant could do with the business and the couple needed their privacy. Det John Hughes (Mahershalalhashbaz Ali) wonders...

Chicago – Fox’s “Lie to Me,” the second season of which was just released on DVD, has fluctuated wildly in quality since the day it hit the air, a fact that was underlined when the great Shawn Ryan (“The Shield”) came on-board and seemed to find the program’s personality, only to leave it and watch it drift again. Just when it seemed like “Lie to Me” would develop into must-see viewing, it would falter again and the incredibly-lackluster season two release doesn’t help.
DVD Rating: 2.5/5.0
It’s worth noting that the peak of “Lie to Me” is buried within this DVD set. The show became a smash in the summer of 2010, ending the season as one of the most-watched programs in several key demographics. It was forced to come back early when Fox canceled “Lone Star” and has shown signs of the same identity crisis that often plagued...

This episode of Lie to Me (TV) is chocked full of flashbacks. Starting with a flashback to a scene: Boston, 2003. A man, his wife and daughter are in a cab just after the St. Patty's Day celebrations. After the wife and daughter exit the cab, the driver turns and attempts to shoot the man sitting in the back seat. The struggle for the gun results in the deaths of the man's wife and daughter. As it turns out, the survivor is Jimmy Doyle (Angus MacFadyen), leader of a Belfast based terrorist group. Cut to Present Time: Cal Lightman (Tim Roth) is late for his flight. Apparently he and his daughter, Emily (Hayley McFarland) are going to look at Berkley as a potential college. Gillian Foster (Kelli Williams) brings word that an old acquaintance/ex-boss of Lightman, from the Pentagon, has called and wants to "come clean" about the Boston 2003 shooting.
