This TV promo special about the world premiere of the infamous camp cult classic "Valley of the Dolls" on the maiden voyage of the luxury cruise ship the Italia offers lots of pretty scenery and several choice clips from the film, but alas tends to meander quite a bit and hence proves to be a rather blah experience. While hosts Army Archerd and Bill Burrud are likeable enough, they unfortunately are bland interviewers. The interview subjects are reasonably entertaining: Perky Patty Duke, sweet Barbara Parkins, glamorous writer Jacqueline Susann, and an endearingly earnest Sharon Tate. Moreover, hunky Tony Scotti sings both the haunting theme song and the delightfully corny "Come Live with Me." An acceptable diversion.
